Yep, it's really looking good for Apple with iOS and about 3 more features that Android already had. Some people won't even get the three new features if they don't have the newest iPhone.

You probably won't find that kind of battle in "the near future" unless by near future you mean 2013. I would think that this chipset would perhaps turn up in the next iPad which you most likely won't see til 2013. Also, by that time you would probably see Samsung use the Mali T658 GPU in one of their tablets, or if Mali comes out with a new chipset then they may choose that.

ST-Ericsson NovaThor 9600 is equipped with Dual Core 2.5 GHz A15 cores and nxt generation PowerVR ROGUE gpu which has been sampling to diff. manufacturers from a long time and will most likely debut on at least one smartphone this yr itself(and that too most probably on any Sony smartphone bcoz sony has specified that they will be using nxt generation dual core processors from QUALCOMM and ST-Ericsson this yr).
So don't take everything to apple or 2013..., you will easily be able to see this battle before this yr's end

The ST-Ericsson NovaThor 9600 is not suppose to be released until Q1 2013. Just because products have been sampled for a year or two does not mean they are immediately ready for production.

Yeah, maybe some Apple agreement i guess? lol. And i heard that PowerVR is the best mobile GPU designers out there.. Mali series GPU is probably 2nd best GPU out there, just look at SGS 2 (on 2011) and now SGS 3 on how they bested all their competitors on GPU department..

TI needs to hurry their booties up and start announcing something. Since I doubt I'll be getting the sgs3 at launch (still trying to figure out a way to afford the import), there is a "Wow" window they could still hit me with and pull me over to an A15 omap5/powerVR combo.

They probably will.. Samsung considered SGS III as an "incremental" upgrade to SGS II.. So Galaxy S IV should be packed with a big hardware upgrades and features updates..

Mitchel, companies base their "upgrades" for a 2 year cycle. 50% increase in power is not "incremental" compared to the SGS2. And considering the target audience is the SGS1 owners that are up for upgrade.. its no where near incremental. Its like nearly triple the power.

well at least for the exynos quad version.

That said,
we may see the A15 exynos and the 6xx Mali in the next Note. If not, we will definitely see them (or something better) in the SGS4

I don't think G-Note 2 will taste the Exynos 5250 / new Mali GPU first, it should be reserved for the next Galaxy S Series.. I'm pretty sure the next G-Note will be very similar to SGS III, probably with higher clocked CPU and improved S-Pen functionality..

We'll find out soon enough I think. Though I think the quad core was more of a one shot deal for the SGS3 to hold us over until they had enough A15's to launch products with. They started sampling months ago, so we should see the A15 exynos out relatively soon in tablets, then in phones.

The race is on. Exynos A15 or OMAP A15.. which will be better. I really think its going to come down to Mali 6xx or PowerVR as the big difference between them.
