Huawei open to acquiring Nokia, but calls Windows Phone "weak"
0. phoneArena 18 Jun 2013, 14:11 posted on
Huawei is definitely serious about continuing to grow, and Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei’s consumer business group, thinks that one good way to do that would be through acquisitions. Yu has always been particularly media savvy and he showed it again today in an interview with the Financial Times where he said that Huawei is "open-minded" to purchasing Nokia...

You forgot to mention all the other noname manufacturers of Android devices. There seems to be that there are like thousands of junk dealers of Android devices. It cheapens the experience.
Nokia builds Quality with a great OS.... NOKIA FTW!

S4 may have cheap plastic but the S3 and the definately the 920 are build pretty good. Infact the 920 is a pretty sturdy phone and the upcoming EOS phone will be Awesome!

But what's even greater about Nokia is that they are able to sell cheap phones but still keeping that great quality and premium feel compared to the other "trash" brands/cheap phones. No other company can achieve this solid quality in cheaper low/mid ranged phones!

Hmmm....Samsung, Apple, Huawei (with Nokia acquired), and maybe ZTE OR LG, I can see it, these are companies I've certainly kept an eye on and wouldn't be suprised if it all came down to just them at some point.

Umm lets not even entertain this idiot of a CEO open to buying what now!! Not on his miniscule ass will he ever get his hands on NOKIA!! First things first FINLAND and the EU regulators will object to such a move and regulations in the EU provisions will make this very difficult Huawei cheap ass!! 2nd the Microsoft market share rising with Windows Brand. Microsoft will not allow Nokia to fall in the wrong hands they have enough capital to secure a hostile bid. This moron of a CEO stated Android is free. Android is not free because at the end of the day Google still has to pay Microsoft a hefty bill for every Android phone made by an OEM which gives Microsoft capital every quarter financial. This mans claims are baseless. Nokia's brand alone will be destroyed in the hands of this Chinese company!! Move along nothing to see here NEXT!!!

I'm wondering what patent is Android Google paying Rooten MS?
46. GoBears (Posts: 255; Member since: 27 Apr 2012)
I love Nokia but being WP only kills them for me. I'd love to have the 928 running Android. It wouldn't replace my Note2 but it would be a great alternative when I need a more compact, more durable phone with a great camera. I'm not bashing WP, I just can't stand it. I don't care who would buy Nokia as long as they would bring Android to Nokia's design.
47. THEJET88 (Posts: 18; Member since: 11 Sep 2011)
Microsoft should buy Nokia and make their own phones like apple does
53. General-Levy- (banned) (Posts: 66; Member since: 18 Jun 2013)
They will never sell it to those bad rotten companys, never. The patent thiefs
Ms is just like Apple
56. SIGPRO (Posts: 317; Member since: 03 Oct 2012)
Nokia is number 19 on the worlds biggest brand list.
Nokia is worth 21 billion, Huawei is not even in the top 100.
So Huawei.......keep dreaming!
65. jackhammeR (Posts: 1548; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
not gon na happen. Many tried, all failed. Nokia is in too lucrative collaboration with ms to be sold. Moreover, it won't be sold as Finns wouldn't accept such decision. It was just a simple, meaningless rant i somebody's interview and out of the blue, Nokia-haters crawled from under the rock and started spreading doomsday. You wish Nokia made android phones. Not gonna happen so cut the crap.

There are not as many Nokia/WP8 haters on this website as you think. It's the same idiots posting dumb comments using duplicate accounts. PhoneArena needs to do a better job of weeding out the frauds...

Seems like you are in troll denial. or jelous fit. Seek profesional help.

Well if it's not gonna happen, prepare to give it away free, or head down south, RIP....
Or Nokia will just be a patent company and live of with it's patent, and not make phones. That is another option!
80. windork (Posts: 16; Member since: 24 May 2013)
Not going to happen.
a) Huawei is never going to be as innovative as any of the front runners
b) Unless Yu manages to get a bunch of money they can't afford it
c) Microsoft would buy Nokia first
d) There is this thing called a monopoly on low end and this pretty much defines it
e) The europeans would pressure Samsung and HTC and Microsoft and Google all to compete and bully Huawei out of it
f) they don't need Nokia for anything
82. UrbanPhantom (Posts: 910; Member since: 30 Oct 2012)
General-Levy = Paid Samsung Shill (duplicate account)
94. ZeroCide (Posts: 594; Member since: 09 Jan 2013)
Agreed!!!!!!! The Blatant Avatar and the General Troll Rage is a dead givaway.
95. Timmehor (Posts: 598; Member since: 09 Mar 2013)
This is why Huawei is going NOWHERE in the near future if they have a CEO with that attitude. The lack of innovation, countless stealing/copying other companies followed by lawsuits and boring mass produced phones. That CEO is a, douchebag. Nokia is more than just phones, they own Navteq and Siemens, some of the largest telecommunication and GPS/Mapping companies in the world!
99. CardiWPfan (Posts: 129; Member since: 12 Sep 2012)
Exactly he looks like he is smoking crack. Nokia is a "conglomerate" and its divisions under it umbrella make it very lucrative. In fact alot of people forget Nokia's Patent portfolio includes the "4G" band technology. The Mapping base in Navteq is beyond lucrative for Nokia. This ceo does not get it. Lets not entertain this idiocy of Nokia being sold to a company like Huawei pffft next!! Read my lips this shall not pass! I'm just mad that this stupidy of a rumour rattled the markets and forced Nokia's stock holders to get all rilled up smdh!! Lets think long terms HERE, no pun intended. Nokia productivity is on the up and up!!
106. Timmehor (Posts: 598; Member since: 09 Mar 2013)
Totally agree with you! People undermine the power and size of Nokia!
97. Sharky (Posts: 69; Member since: 24 Jun 2008)
"Yu also predicts that the smartphone market is going to consolidate to about 3 or 4 companies, and he certainly would be counting Huawei in that, and we would assume Apple and Samsung as well. Given the market share of Apple and Samsung alone, it is certainly possible, but we definitely don't like the idea."
Agreed. I would hate for the market to be composed of just 3-4 companies. That would be absolute crap. As if Apple and Samsung didn't already just settle for "just being good enough" to hold onto their marketshare already.
103. jackhammeR (Posts: 1548; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
that's how it works. Some douchebag spreads a rumor and idiots react. It's harmful for companies.
104. Antonyjoseph (Posts: 171; Member since: 06 Apr 2013)
Who told this Huawei guy that Nokia is up for sale? Both Microsoft and Nokia have deep pockets and neither of them are going anywhere. Nokia and Windows phone is going to increase their shares. Most of these statements come because of fear of Microsoft/ Nokia.

NOKIA IS MORE THAN JUST PHONES IT'S ALOT BIGGER THAN JUST PHONES THEREFORE THEY CAN'T SIMPLY BUY NOKIAS
