Huawei curved screen smartphone reportedly in the making, possible Mate S2?
Samsung has so far reigned supreme in the niche for smartphones with curved displays. LG has reportedly dabbled in the edge-like curve, with reports of prototypes that can be traced as early as January of last year, but nothing has been confirmed or launched yet. It was only recently that China-based Vivo launched the XPlay 5 with its dual-curved screen, which quickly drew comparisons to the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+, and for good reason, but the handset itself will probably not be widely available in international markets. Another smartphone that comes with a dual-arched screen is BlackBerry's PRIV, which is also only popular in its own niche of hardware keyboard fans.

Well, another China-based manufacturer is reported to be planning to launch a curvy smartphone, and this one is a bit bigger than Vivo — it's Huawei. Supposedly, a leakster that has ties in the smartphone slinger's supply line has solid information that the company is preparing a handset with an arched display. Interestingly, the report says it would be “unlike the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge”, but we've no idea what that's supposed to mean. Possibly, the curves could be on the top and bottom of the display, instead of the sides?

The leakster continues to speculate that the device in question could be the second generation of the Huawei Mate S. As you may recall, the Mate S — or, more specifically, it's top-tier, most expensive variant — was the first announced smartphone to feature a pressure-sensitive display, beating Apple's iPhone 6s by about a week. Well, in announcements at least – it was still a good while before the Mate S was actually available for purchase.

So, Huawei has already established the Mate S line as one that tries to feature the newest, trendy tech. We wouldn't be surprised to see it adopt the curvy glass design, as the world seems to love the Galaxy S7 edge's sleek looks.

If all of this turns out to be true, we should probably expect more leaks throughout the Summer, with a possible official announcement some time in early September. We'll keep an ear to the ground!
