How much storage memory do you actually have in your phone? (Poll results)

I just realised that 16GB is actually enough for me and it's just nice.. But if I have to buy phones with non-expandable storage, then I will have to choose 32GB and above, "just-in-case"..
16GB internal memory on my S3 is enough for apps, but the additional 16 I have on the sd card is already full with movies.. it can't even hold a single tv series. But I can use USB drive just like on the computer so overall I'm covered:)
Verizon Galaxy S3 - 32gb internal plus 64gb microsdxc card. Just under 12gb left on the card, so clearly 32gb isn't enough.
2GB internal with an 8GB microSD card.. will get a 16GB soon. I didn't know some android games would go over 1 GB lol
8gb internal + 16gb card that came with the phone = 24. The only reason I haven't added is more is because I'm cheap. (Although, I would like to have more space for music...) My next phone will have 32 internal + 32 card for a total of 64 gb. Droid Razr Maxx HD or LG Optimus G.
I have the 16gb Galaxy S3, a 64gb SDCard, & the 50gb Dropbox storage. I would not have got this phone without the SDCard slot. If the phone did not have that it would need a minimum of 32gb's of internal storage. I will not buy any phone without a SDCard slot under 32gb's of internal storage. Period!

32 GB+, but barely. The + is from the 2 GB SD card that's been legacied phone-to-phone from my first Android, which was an LG Optimus One, and the only phone I've ever purchased that included an SD card. Of course, it also only had 512 mb internal storage, little of which was available to the user.

We need to sit back and realize just how much we take new age mobile tech for granted. A long time ago, back when cds ruled the world we could fit like 20 songs per CD. Portable CD players could only hold one cd so you had to also carry around your bag of other cds. Even the first MP3 players were a joke, siper expensive and could only hold a limited amount. Now eith smartphones these days most have at least 16 gb internal storage and can hold thousands of songs easily. Its really insane how fast technology has evolved.

One thing I've realized from observing people is they store a bunch of useless things they don't need just for the sake or cause they're too lazy to delete things they've watched or don't use anymore. I have friends who have like 10,000 songs on their laptops and carry thousands on their phones and they never listen to them, have tons of videos which they never(rarely) watch and complain about not enough space, wasted space if you ask me, not to mention large game collections that they don't play

Very true, its as simple as hooking up your phone to your computer with the USB cable and deleting them out. I did that recently and got over half of my storage back and most of those songs I haven't even listened to(just skipped over them) in years.

Retail audio CDs store music as lossless. Lossless files are very large files due to their high quality, compared to lossy (ie: mp3). Those CDs were, and are, fully capable of storing many more than the 10-20 that they contained, had they stored lower-quality files, such as mp3's. Since you brought mp3 players into your argument, which allows for adding and removing songs at will, you should also bring RW CDs into your discman argument, which allowed more than 200 songs per CD. That's up to 20 CDs on a single disc, which pretty much eliminated the need to carry around a case of CDs.
I agree with your general idea, just not the way you portrayed it.

Smartphones are awesome. Last year, I converted all of my LP's, tapes and CD's to MP3 and put them on my phone. It is awesome being able to carry my entire music collection with me. I also like the fact that I can set them to randomly play, so I don't have to listen to an entire album of the same artist at a time. Being able to shuffle all of the songs makes listening to my music more enjoyable for me.

16GB is enough for me don't even have an SD card in my S2 cause I have my laptop at home and use it at work, so its sorta redundant keeping content stored on both and bigger screen is always better for viewing content. I cycle my content on my phone and delete when I'm done with them and have a small collection of selected tracks that I enjoy listening to otherwise I don't listen to music much

By optimal, I think you mean minimal. At least that's what I think. I'm always right on the edge of buying a 32GB microsd card but 16 just barely squeaks buy for me. Once I get my next phone I think I'll make the jump unless it has larger internal storage.

I need more than 16GB. It was the only reason I did not get the HTC One S. I need 32GB to store all my songs plus have enough left over for other stuff.

What about 1080p video recording? Is 16 GB enough? I am thinking of getting HTC One S but not-expandable memory really concerns me...Especially because of that 1080p video recording because I shoot a lot of videos, I listen to a lot of music and would like to watch some 720p movies in mkv format (so no less than 3 GB per movie) and store some of them if I go on holiday or something like that so I could kill some time with more than one movie. And yes, Apps... although they don't need much of a memory they still use it. So....
Is 16 GB (for example: One S) enough for all of that?

memory cards are not dirt cheap in my country nor widely available (32 gb)
after currency conversion, a 32gb memory card will cost about 25-30 USD

this is how i see it, 16gb is barely enough, 32gb is enough, and if you can add a microSD to that 32gb then you are happy(even if you never add that microSD card)
i actually have 32gb integrated +2gb sdcard from my last phone, i like to feel free to add whatever i want to my phone, 32gb does just fine but i feel i can fill it up, i think manufacturers should move to 64gb as the next standar for high end phones, anyway why is soo hard to do so? the price difference between 32gb and 64 is barely noticeable(for manufacturers not end consumer) and if im buying a top of the line smartphone getting it out of free space is just lame

I have and currently use the HTC Inspire 4G rooted, but given 4GB of internal storage, where I can only use ~1.12GB, I'm forced to use a 32GB microSDHC card.... Also, I need to space for the backups since my phone's rooted... I can't wait for the upgrade, which I'm due in January. I like the HTC One X+ with the 64GB of internal memory, but a microSD slot would be a real killer with 2GB of RAM instead of 1GB of RAM, and a 2,500+mAh embedded battery. Otherwise, the LG Optimus G, or if AT&T releases a 32GB and 64GB of the SGS3, then sure, I wouldn't mind, but I need a microSD card with the games I have downloaded and play, in addition to the lossless music I have. And yea, the lossless music files take up so much space... -_- I really want to get a new smartphone ASAP!!! =)

Most people are on limited data plans so if you don't have enough internal storage you gotta use cloud storage to access you data when mobile which uses MORE DATA! Apps aren't getting smaller either!
I like having access to my music and pictures and other stuff without having to go online and use MORE DATA! My stuff when I want it, where I want it at no extra cost other than the extra cost of the extra internal storage or micro sd card.
THAT'S WHY HAVING ENOUGH STORAGE IS IMPORTANT!

Ive now got a S3 32GB and also added a 32GB Micro SD, as i said before i cant imagine living with less than 30gb in my smartphone.
