The ones who said it would be a POS were right on the money. If you really want this phone, but can't wait...Go buy a Nexus. It's out now & much cheaper.

Frankly, anything with android under the hood is a POS!!!! But thanks for pointing out what many already know.

they were a heck of a lot closer on this than they were with the iPhone.

Unfortunately for ifans most of the iphone rumours should be divided by 6 and the final product will be close to the result.

"One area where the rumors fell short was with the display. There had been speculation, seen in a story from a Korean website and elsewhere, that the Samsung Galaxy S III would offer the first AMOLED screen without a PenTile display, using the RGB matrix instead. Unfortunately, this did not come true and the unit will indeed use the oft-criticized PenTile display."
Galaxy SII already did that... i think you mean first Amoled HD with RGB
7. andro. (Posts: 1998; Member since: 16 Sep 2011)
The actual minute difference between rgb and pentile is negitable unless viewed through microscopes. The only feature which fell short for me is the design, albeit ill wait to see it in the flesh before any decisions are made. I've often see phones unveiled that don't seems all attractive when viewing online but have a totally different feel and presence when you get it instore

from the looks of it, its a slightly larger SGS2 hercules/skyrocket with a center button.
One thing that has not been brought up is that center button. That is common design language for the international version, but has never made it to the US version. Will the US version keep it or will it go with the standard 4 capacitive buttons?
44. nickjjay (Posts: 79; Member since: 10 Oct 2011)
i hope it finally goes with the center button

I love this phone I wish it come to T-Mobile in June.
5. theBankRobber (Posts: 681; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
I really like the phone, it has a different phone design and fantastic screen. People say its ugly but once they get their hands on a working unit, I feel they might change their mind. There is nothing wrong with stepping it up to make yourself stand out from the rest. All the new features are really nice, mainly the direct call and using the video feature that allows you to move the video in a text message while to type. Hey IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, that's why its GOOGLE ANDROID, you have the option to choose something else. Lol :) also, tomorrow is Friday, time to party :-p

The only rumors I was disappointed to not be true were the SA+ HD screen and ceramic body. Maybe the GS4... Ceramic body is doubtful, but still hoping for that SA+ HD!
10. MartyK (Posts: 806; Member since: 11 Apr 2012)
You and I both were looking forward to SA+HD & Ceramic Body, I wonder how this will stand up against the HTC EVO 4g LTE.
19. Mario1017 (Posts: 336; Member since: 04 Sep 2011)
i would take the EVO in a heartbeat if they where both sitting in front of me
22. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4275; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Now that the final product is released, I'm getting the EVO LTE hands down.
26. MartyK (Posts: 806; Member since: 11 Apr 2012)
Yep,! I'm going with E4G LTE
(After reading/looking over SGS3)
32. Lboogey6 (Posts: 281; Member since: 31 Jan 2012)
how to put this nicely ..... you're ridiculous .... one reason why the evo besides design.
37. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4275; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
The screen. It's amazing. WAY better than SA HD. I like Sense UI better than Touchwiz. And it's being released earlier. Why wait for the GS3 when the EVO LTE has the same specs, a better screen, better design, and is going to be released sooner? There is no reason for that. EVO LTE ftw

i walk slowly ,i gain life... thats has to be the cue samsung after this epic fail galaxy s3... everything up to this phone looks soo outdated except the prossesor ?... all this for a prossesor ??? samsung copy apple in a lot of points but what make me imprest is that they copy also in failure ? i speak about ifail 4s... i feel the only victin on this is the customers that they pay with blood for this craps...
11. Cosmo (Posts: 32; Member since: 03 May 2012)
this phone is just so sad.. the physical aspect of the phone is the top priority of most of the smart phone owners.. it's disappointing how Sammy failed to impress this time.. Apple and RIM will surely make better looking phones.. who cares about huge processors when your phone looks like a plastic toy car.. gees.. HTC should be the superior Android maker..
17. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
yes, asthetics are more important than functionality..
unless you actually want to use the device.
what a tool.
12. GeekMovement (Posts: 2156; Member since: 09 Sep 2011)
If Samsung improved the radio so that the signal reception is a lot better than previous devices, I'll get it.
13. intos (Posts: 90; Member since: 06 Jan 2012)
galaxy s2 was succesfull cause when they lunch was far away from the competition... that makes a phone really attractive when its innovate last technology and futuristic design..or its smells a cartel between the companys...
15. Mube1 (Posts: 153; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
Dnt believe in baseless rumors just wait for the actual product which I think so,but I was expecting atleast 12mp cam with great optics which could b game changer for samsung again
18. networkdood (Posts: 6330; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
ATRIX 3 is on the way - I hear it will have 2GB of RAM and dual core processor.
20. rockstarlive (Posts: 307; Member since: 19 Oct 2011)
I wanted 1080p display. But its still a good device.
24. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4275; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
1080p would be a waste of money and effort. If it's over 300ppi, its fine because that's all your brain can register. You won't be able to tell the difference between 308 or 415 ppi.
21. lubba (Posts: 1313; Member since: 17 Jan 2011)
Rumors are nothing more than just to build hype, interest, and advertisement. The worst offender is Apple and their followers. Regarding the iPhone 4, every rumor was spewed and nothing came close! Now we got liquid metal, the T-1000. If anything, it can shape shift into an Apple.

Sorry for the late comment :) just woke up
Firstly, Im impressed what the gs3 looks like. All of the design and spec doesn look like iphone at all (sorry isheep, svoice doesn count) The reason many people disappointed is because its overrated by the concept. Samsung shouldnt go apple pathway to name the device such as superphone 2 3 and so forth, it easily overated.
Look at HTC, they know they cant achieve HTC endover's design and spec which is overrated by concept, so instead they named it oneX.
Samsung cant change the name because it stuck at the name GS3 which is overhyped by many person. Im pretty sure nobody would buy it if it is not named GS3.
28. theBankRobber (Posts: 681; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
Samsung gave what everyone cried for, HD screen, Quad Core CPU, even better features for its polished UI. But Yet, its still not enough.
45. medicci37 (Posts: 1272; Member since: 19 Nov 2011)
I don't recall anyone asking for a pentile screen. I have the pentile Nexus, & the you do notice a big difference with pentile. & they didn't give us in the US quad core. Scamsung could have at least used a duel core Exynos A15. & better camera for all this bs hype.

I have no offense at all, just express my feel as an iphone4s user :)
And I never never EVER believe what iconcept give.
Im looking forward Micheal's Samsung article like 'concept vs reality' or 'naming dilemma' or 'I hope its not the final design'.
had read HTC article 'the power of 1%' about ten times till now :)
27. Sleepy (Posts: 13; Member since: 26 Apr 2012)
My initial impression is a little disappointment as Samsung used a Pentile display (yes it makes little difference but it just feels like a step back) and no rumoured ceramic case :( The SII was better than the original Galaxy S in almost every way (I have the i9000) but this.. not so much. Well I may have to eat my words once I play around with it though :)
34. Stoli89 (Posts: 333; Member since: 28 Jun 2010)
Doesn't a pentile display make text less crisp/sharp than on RGB?
40. Sleepy (Posts: 13; Member since: 26 Apr 2012)
I believe at that pixel density (~300ppi) the difference is negligible. I think had they not said it was Pentile not many people would have noticed but they did... and considering the SII used RGB subpixels I had hoped Samsung would do the same here. Its their flagship after all.. until the S IV rumors start :)

I'm a bit underwhelmed.I guess I'll have to stick on the Note for now.
31. Jericho (unregistered)
where's the 1080p display?
Where's the 2gb of ram?
Samsung just crapped in their pants. And all of those people who are saying pentile and rgb are not that different(don't act like sheeps) you can kiss my @$$. You samsung fans have became s-trolls with no respect for other brands. When the htc one x and optimus 4x were announced the comments section was filled with 's3 is gonna blow it away' yeah right.
38. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4275; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
I don't see why everyone wanted a 1080p display. It would be useless. But yes, this was a disappointment. Even though I am a supporter of HTC, even I thought that the GS3 was going to blow the One X away. Samsung made a mistake, not releasing the SA+ HD display, not having more RAM, and not having the ceramic casing. All they did was change the screen, bump up the processor, and improve the camera from the GS2. The Note 2 will probably have the specs people wanted from the GS3 (minus the 1080p screen). But then again, HTC's Note competitor will be out by then hopefully, with Qualcomm's new quad S4 processor that will out-perform the quad Exynos. Sigh, Samsung is falling behind
33. Lboogey6 (Posts: 281; Member since: 31 Jan 2012)
I'm sorry but anyone disappointed is an idiot have you seen what the phone is capable of??? Y'all don't make sense OK no its not what was expected but its features are amazing HTC has nothing on this phone besides "design" I need one feature that's better
39. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4275; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
The screen. The SLCD2 HD screen on the One X is alot better than the SA HD screen on the GS3. There's your one feature.
41. Lboogey6 (Posts: 281; Member since: 31 Jan 2012)
oh ok my bad i didnt realize we were carrying out magnifying glasses around would you like me to list the features that make the one x look like a flip phone?
42. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4275; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
No, without the magnifying glass. With just your eye, the SLCD2 has the brightest and most realistic colors, and best viewing angles and overall quality than the SA, HD or not. At ANY resolution, the SLCD2 wins. I would rather have SLCD2 rather than SA+ even
43. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4275; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
And sure, say what makes the One X a flip phone. The candybar form factor? Arguably the best screen on any mobile device? The HD display? One of the highest performing processors in a mobile device? The advanced camera technology? The excellent design with nice edges and curves? All while running the newest version of Android with an intuitive user interface, HTC Sense. Yeah, that sure sounds like a flip phone to me! I hardly call anyone this, but you really are a fanboy. I'm not saying the Galaxy S 3 is a bad device, it's anything but that, but the One X has some clear advantages over it. And I wouldn't say I'm an HTC fanboy, more like a supporter. I don't go around saying that the One X is the best device ever. It has it's pros and cons, but right now the pros outweigh the cons, and it is arguably the best overall device right now. Granted in a few months, something better will come along, there's no doubt about that. The hardware makes it arguably the best device overall, and the software makes it the best device for me.

My opinion i want to use new phone and i hope comes to. Verizon
47. Lboogey6 (Posts: 281; Member since: 31 Jan 2012)
The camera technology is the same they've tested abilities of the one x and it doesn't exactly pass with flying colors I retract my flip phone statement it is a good phone but to say clear winner each of the phones has their pros and cons but by no means does it blow the gs3 out of the water with processing power the gs3 has already proven to be the head of its class. As far as fan boy no sir I'm a fan of Samsung I've owned plenty of phone mostly HTC but I simply grew tired of them having something missing in the software loved my sensation but the booting of the phone and screen capture on its own got tiring I'm done rooting I want a phone that just works so design to each his own but the one x is a sleek and great phone but software I have to give touch wiz
48. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4275; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
The camera is debatable depending on what your idea of a good picture is. That's why some people say it's amazing, and other people say it's kind of lack-luster. Processing power, I am a bit under-whelmed by the new Exynos. I expected it to completely obliterate the rest of the competition like it did last year, but that didn't happen. It only just beat out the Tegra 3 and S4 in some areas, and in other areas it was beaten. Now this doesn't really matter, I doubt there will be any lag with any of the processors, it's just by the numbers alone it's a bit disappointing compared to last year. When the S4 Pro comes out in a few months, it will probably beat the Exynos completely in numbers (though there won't be any lag on either). To each his own on design, you are correct. And that applies to software also. For me, Touchwiz just doesn't do it. I love the eye-candy that is Sense, but I will be sure to try out the new Touchwiz as soon as I can to see if there's anything different I might like. You should do the same with the new Sense 4.
