Here's how you can still get unlimited data on Verizon

Here’s a neat little trick which allows you to bypass Verizon Wireless’ system restrictions and actually get the good old unlimited data plan the company nixed in the summer of 2011…

Thanks for the heads up but I would rather it be put in media outlets later than sooner so Verizon does not change that sooner but rather later. This is not a story I would think I would want to put out there first. It's kinda like tattle tailing or ruining it for people considering how many people read this and these kind of sites

I was thinking the same thing, why the heck publish this in the mainstream??? Verizon Managers read these articles, as does Apple (that's why PhoneArena has an "Agreement" with their employer [Apple] to ban certain anti-Apple words from this site, but I digress; publishing this is one sure fire way of bringing a speedy end to this "system glitch".
I was actually able to get Unlimited Data for my RAZR™ a completely different way but, I promised the rep' that I would never tell anyone and, therefore, I can not share. But at least I got rid of that KRAPPPPY DROID X.

Cause unless you don't have unlimited data on Verizon sprint sucks compared to from my experience. 10 extra for 4g that is not as good and is not going to see another two years before it is replaced by real 4g

Well Sprint pretty much no longer uses the $10 add-on as just a "4G Smartphone" now calling it a charge for all premium devices, smartphones 4G or not.

I'm surprised by how many people still think the $10 fee is for 4G phones.

Im surprised how many people think thats a rip off..you get a $79.99 with Text messages and Data included with the minutes, not add another $20 for text and $25-$30 for 2GB of data allowance..yet you complain about $10

Yes! Now that is hilarious, because when you do all the math, for the same services it works out sprint its the same or cheaper in most instances. Verizon had the killer network, but pricing is not their advantage.

I already have unlimited data for everyone on my family account. I have a Thunderbolt myself so no issues here.

Doesnt work anymore. There is no way to add Mobile Hotspot, it just tries to transfer you to customer service.

Sprint's Unlimited plan is a great value.....now if you only had COVERAGE in which you could use your handset, then you might be on to something!

Yea their data is basically useless if you are inside a building. I get good coverage outside everywhere I go but the data speeds stop all together in any house or building.

That's why we here in NYC have special outdoor Sprint Glass Hubs, they also dubble as MTA Bus Shelters but do not let that fool you. Whenever we have problems with coverage we just leave our apartments and walk to the nearest MTA bus stop (with glass shelter), take a seat, pretend we're waiting on the bus and make use of our Unlimited Data; these hubs come in handy in the snow and rain, I just wish they were heated (or cooled for summer) in some way.

I got transferred to customer service, the rep added it for me (I gave her the feature code from the article), and it worked!

Worked for me of an Xperia Play. Thanks Phone Arena.

Failed once with galaxy nexus. I already have 12 gb with hotspot. Paying 70 a month for it so you can probably tell why i wanted to get this deal.
If someone with similar situation can get it to work, i'll give it another try.
Was told by rep that the 30 only activated hotspot for phones already with unlimited data
16. theoak (Posts: 324; Member since: 16 Nov 2011)
Because you already have the hot spot feature ... I wonder if that is why?

I still have my unlimited plan from when I signed up in fall 2010. Hope I get to keep it when I switch to a 4G phone some day...
18. seanjohnusa91 (Posts: 31; Member since: 01 Nov 2011)
You should. I did. And if you don't talk customer service's ear off until they put it back on =].
19. MagicTaco (Posts: 11; Member since: 22 Nov 2011)
I had unlimited data when I upgraded to a 4G phone and I was able to keep it. I was a little worried I would lose it too but I called customer service prior to my upgrade and they said I would be fine.

I went from my droid 1 to my RAZR, and they let me keep my unlimited data.
21. atheisticemetic (Posts: 377; Member since: 18 Dec 2011)
tried to do this recently and had no luck. anyone have an update? i'm a verizon employee on a customer based account so I would like to have unl data too!
the feature code already doesnt work however, so i imagine Verizon got wind of this.
23. Zorin (Posts: 152; Member since: 26 Jul 2010)
Of course they got wind of this you dummy. Go sell another Iphone case and milk data from your FIOS.
24. atheisticemetic (Posts: 377; Member since: 18 Dec 2011)
im glad that in your overly condescending response you failed to read the other postings of people who got this to work no more than 4 hours ago (from my original posting).
perhaps in your anally retentive dissection of my post i should have mentioned the phrase "Verizon got wind of this and actually DID something about it"
no need to be a complete jerk.
clearly Verizon got wind of this but by implication i was saying that they actually did something about it.
gonna blame the dummy card on you for not figuring that out
Secondly i think the iphone sucks and FIOS doesnt even exist in the state of Michigan at this time (or at least not in my area). So im glad that not only do you make irrational insults, but clearly dont catch any form of implication.

Less QQ. More Pew Pew. I did fig. it out, dummy. Ur comment wasn't needed. Mine wasn't either, but you spoke first and I had to crush. Iphone doesn't suck. True techs no this. Battery is amazing, love watching droid users (and I like Android Phones) running for a charging port at the airport. Too Funny.

I work at a retailer and saw this occur a few weeks ago, but to my knowledge this no longer works.

You all realize that there is a team of people working on fixing this problem and removing the plan from people's accounts, right? And that you'll be charged any overages from your normal 2/5/10 gig plan? It's Verizon. One of the biggest companies in the world - you really think the company will let you keep your illegal data plan?
Thanks in advance for the money you'll be paying in overages. Helps my bonus at the end of the year. The more money the company makes, the more money I make.
