Here is why the Nokia Lumia 920 has no microSD card slot

0. phoneArena 06 Sep 2012, 09:41 posted on

You know what a Nokia Lumia 820 has that a Nokia Lumia 920 doesn't? A microSD card slot. Not that the company's newest Windows Phone flagship necessarily needs one since it has 32 gigabytes of on-board storage available right out of the box, yet still, the decision to leave out the option for storage expansion boggles the minds of many smartphone enthusiasts...

You right here.
Looks like I made a mistake buying Nokia not waiting for HTC that have memory card on-board....

I dont know why there is so much antagonism agianst nokia. they have brought to the table some serious inovations and people say, still there is something missing. And the bigger camera sensor saga is crap, cause everyone wants a slim phone, and say if lumia 920 had a huge 21mp sensor or what ever, the phone would have been huge. And people will be crowing about the size and weight. 'Remember samething happened with the 808, now people are praising the 808 so they can banter the lumia 920. Come on appreciate some thing amazing. It has one of the the best displays (Pure motion HD) with 332 ppi making it one of the best beating the iphone retina display, A pretty awsome innovation in camera technology with floating lense, curved glass, clear black technology (refined), scratch resistant unibody, wireless charging, better sensitive touch screen. And people are complaning!, "there is'nt enough innovation''. Common guys be logical and reasonable.

"Here is why the Nokia Lumia 920 has no microSD card slot"

Who cares? I'm definitely not gonna buy it after they f**ked me with the Lumia 800. In fact I will try as much as I can to convince EVERYONE that come into contact with me NOT to buy both Windows Phones AND Nokia's.

For all I care I'd rather give my support to LG or Sony or any other "underdog" o/t industry.

You right (f***d here as well)...

Why information that L800 and L900 won't get WM8 update was provided so late? If it's a hardware capability Nokia/MS must have known about it much earlier ; so, that was kept away from customers purposely to make them buy Lumia twice....

Not an honest business practice, isn't it?

Won't consider purchase of any other model of Nokia before they release WM8 update for Lumia 900...

.... just a matter of principles of Nokias happy customer that won't like to be cheated/deceived twice.

Consdering the look of their devices I can see why then. However, seeing 64gb in a device might be something to enjoy more in the future.

Mr Elop thinks this phone will compete with the new iPhone 5,but its not got the Stupid Tiles on it,Why?could Nokia make the Windows phones with Themes as thats why people use to like Symbian as you could Customize how you phone looks, but you look at the Windows phone an the Tiles spoils how the phone looks,Android with Go Launcher is Miles better than the Tiles on Windows, but Mr Elop does not seem to Realize thats why alot people do not like the look of Windows phones

Tiles are quite handy. Did use to them after 2-3 days (Lumia 900).

The problem with them is that WM7.5 allows you to have only two of them in a row and fixed size....

Search mechanism helps a bit but it's a bit annoying at the beginning.

32gb internal memory isn't even enough for me. i'd rather have a SD CARD SLOT you can remove or add more. the thing is it will take bout 8-10GB worth of preinstall memory then you only have bout 26GB left.

Even without any data on it. You will start with between 30 and 29GB free space after partitioning and formating the 32GB storage.

The quoted sizes are marketing capacities. the HTC One X has about 26GB free space from its 32GB internal Storage area.

Great excuse Nokia. Fail on your part. I'm sure you can find a nice spot for it on the top of the phone next time opposite the microSIM slot.

It's not useless but a disappointment in many ways (for me at least)...

Must be said that calls are made mostly without issues and mobile is rather responsive (my SE Arc was sometimes able to 'hang-around' for 10-30s before screen became responsive).

However, even parts of functionality of Lumia 900 (that is on the market for a while) is rather IMO below comment (ie. e-mail client with zero configuration capabilities ; mobile is turning off Wi-Fi on screen turn-off while there is file download in the background (I know, KeepAlive application helps here but it's patching semi-ready product than solving it) ; poor implementation of contact import from a file (implementation of bluetooth import was BRILLIANT and worked with SE Arc flawlessly but didn't work with my wifes older phones ; need of usage of 3rd party program to send contact to somebody, etc).

I do work on product development and I would not give a green light to the product after 1-2 days of use ; unless, that would be 'to be or not to be' for a company and a direct order by e-mail with CC to somebody above me...

Its not about if users want more storage. Its the fact that we wanted to quickly put in our micro SD card and bam, instantly have every song, photo, video, etc on our new windows phone.

This is exactly why I didn't want the One X, despite it having only 16gbs on the att version, the fact it lacked a micro SD slot for the purpose I mentioned before is the reason.

Hmm in Microsoft world there is such a thing as the Cloud folks I would put most of my music in the cloud and not have my smart loaded with a lot of music I will get tired of listening to after awhile. I am old school any I want to use my smart phone to send and receive phone calls and only occasionally use the web to get information when I am on the go because carriers charge the hell out of you these days with data usage fees unless your carrier offers an unlimited data plan. so a Person really has to self budget themselves as far as data usage is concerned or else good old AT & T and Verizon will smile as they give you a bill for going over your Data quota

Lame excuse. It's a smartphone and not some Designer Vanity Kit. Should have had the provision for microSD.

Kevin Shields are you living in some weird parallel universe or what?! Kevy-boy you're such a good example of why phone companies die! Instead of listening to what people are screaming at you that they want you decide for them that they don't need a memory card slot cuz it'll ruin the phone's design?! Are you for f?%$#@ real? What cave ARE you living in Kevin! I think it's your brain's design that's already ruined.
