I think somewhere is an error, a BIG ONE (maybe is the way data are presented or missing data explaining what you present here). Because "everybody" knows symbian is the no 1 worldwide phone OS.... Check gartner´s report on Q1: http://www.gartner.com/it/page
.jsp?id=1372013 Nokia sold 110 million units worldwide, Apple 8 million, Samsung 64 million.... And by smartphone OS Symbian sold 24 million, iOS 8 million and Android 5 million... A LOT has to be changed for Symbian losing the no 1 in market share... even if Apple sold twice or more than Nokia the established base of nokia would make for more market share. Even if this about ONLY may it´s very very unlikely....

I think its only for AdMob usage from all the OS's.

I believe you're right, someone is a fault here? Now i know nearly everyone is Apple iPhone crazy but you have to look at it like this, the iso4 only added an additional 1.7 million to its total, given the updated firmware. Let's just base it off one of Nokia phones say the 5800, 17 Million plus of these handsets/smart phones have been sold to date, all running symbian, how on earth can you even, suggest that the OS share is higher on a iPhone, sorry but that's bull.. Ok here comes the sympathetic side of me now... let’s say for a quarter, (I’m trying to work for Apple on this one) they've sold around 3 Million iPhones, which is impressive (the Extra boost comes from the iPhone 4 figures) now, how many manufactures sell symbian handsets??? Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Nokia and these a few more i don't think i need to list them all.. collectively I’m pretty sure there figure will triple the amount sold by Apple worldwide. Apple have a good phone but COME ON…. it's not great and anyone that can't see that is an idiot... (and yes i have an iPhone 3, 3Gs and 4 for the fan boy to shut up) I just think of all the things that a missing from the handset in this day and age of technology…

The only bit of information I'm getting out of those charts is that Android's share is going up...

To put a little perspective here. Apple had sold roughly 50 million handsets. Those handsets all have apps with in app ads. Those devices all have full rich HTML browsers that click on ad mob supported ads. Not all symbian devices have rich HTML browsers where users click on ad mob supported ads. Not all symbian devices have consumer level apps. Consumer level apps aren't a big part of the symbian OS. these apps are the ones with ad mob ads that get clicked and support ad mobs research. Like said above this is due to these stats being taken from devices utilizing ad mob. Real figures could only come from carriers and their log of active imei's which is completely private.

yea, this is only for AdMob.. which is add based apps basically. It would make sence that they have iphone as #1 as it has the most apps (which should me a higher # of add based apps). This isnt "actual phone sales". Peeps, dont get your panties in a bunch.

Whats really gonna be interesting is when the new WP7 phones come out. I personally believe microsoft is going to to give google a run for its money mainly because of the buisness sector. However for being an open system to which I love; Android is a very solid OS for being open. However WP7 will be structured and I know won't make the same dumb mistakes apple made: maybe some dumber ones of there own but hey! Anyway as far as this artical is concerned I guarantee android would have 80% of the pie chart if they went by adult software content.
