Heins disappointed in March launch for U.S. BlackBerry Z10

While BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins should be pleased with the way that the BlackBerry Z10 launch has taken off in the U.K. and Canada, the executive is disappointed that U.S. carriers won't be selling the device until late next month; Heins says that for BlackBerry to be successful, it has to take market share back in the U.S...

To be honest I could personally care less about the first phone.. Mediocre at best from the reviews I've read. BUT I've never owned a BB product so maybe I'm missing something

my only worry is the abysmal battery life that is being reported on the Z10

You guys are taking way too damn long for ur BB fans to release here in the U.S. while Europe and CANADA gets theirs first

Strange crowd the UK. Why would they buy a 2011 tech phone for 2013 price? Don't get me wrong, it would've destroyed your average gingerbread and it's a well-rounded phone. For 2011 standards. The Xperia Z and Galaxy SIV will smash the Z10 in sales. (I guess Lewis Hamilton has great selling power on the Isles).

Why are u So slow? Who cares about the android! Its about the amazing software that the people love about the new blackberry...you are so stuck up about android that its depressing. I can easily get any android device I want right now but blackberry is just better in ways

"Its about the amazing software that the people love about the new blackberry..."
Could you explain me what is so "amazing" about BlackBerry's software?
"...blackberry is just better in ways"
Could you share some examples, please?

None have you has ever used BB10, therefore all of your arguments are irrelevant. You should all be hoping Blackberry succeeds instead of being stuck in your fanboy ways of, "My OS is always the best and everything else sucks." Competition breeds innovation. Stupidity breeds more stupidity.
10. Xtasy (Posts: 284; Member since: 13 Jan 2013)
I never said my OS is the best...I'm saying i prefer it for these reasons. I have a galaxy 10 tab ok so don't be talking....Stupidity is what breeds when u speak!
19. thephoneguy92 (Posts: 191; Member since: 29 Dec 2011)
If you read my post, I wasn't referring to you xtasy. Relax.
12. Xtasy (Posts: 284; Member since: 13 Jan 2013)
Oh and btw Blackberry is already succeeding so suck it
13. _Bone_ (Posts: 2149; Member since: 29 Oct 2012)
Why, have you? Lol.
Nothing is more idiotic than assuming something that is not there, in your case creating fantasies what kind of phone another user may have.
18. thephoneguy92 (Posts: 191; Member since: 29 Dec 2011)
I have not used it. That's why you don't see me spouting off ignorant statements about BB10.
20. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 5498; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
"None have you has ever used BB10..."
If I have not used something, that's mean I can't have any opinion about it?
"...all of your arguments are irrelevant."
What argument do you see in my comment #5?
I just asked few questions, there was no propositions in my comment #5!
"...instead of being stuck in your fanboy ways..."
For example I'm not excited about BlackBerry 10, how that makes me a "fanboy" of something?
"My OS is always the best and everything else sucks."
I never have said that, so please don't make false interpretations!
"Competition breeds innovation."
Agree with that.
"Stupidity breeds more stupidity."
Agree with that also.

Nicely said. Some people are so damned hooked on the OS they own it unbelievable. Why can't everyone just relax and enjoy the phone they have, why bash on why the other Phone/OS is outdated and sucks..
People want variety, having to OS will get tiring eventually, because there is just "that much" of innovation that a company can produce, then eventually, it will be repetitive stuff labeled as "new and innovative" and the company has you where they wanted you, Your Cash in their pockets.

I thing I hear most often was / is BMM (BlackBerry Messenger). Their security doesn't really matter anymore when overseas governments have access to BB's servers.

What phone in 2011 had a dual core processor with 2gb of ram, LTE, and an HD display?
6. Xtasy (Posts: 284; Member since: 13 Jan 2013)
Thanks for asking...Peek and flow makes it easy to keep contact with anyone through text, facebook, etc without having to close the app or game u might be using... Another great thing is the active tiles which are in real time. Android has widgets which is great but i rather have the active tiles
The revolutionary keyboard which is still the best even on touch screen! This is the only time that i finally decided to go full touch while still on my BB 9900. Cuz they make it easy. Iphone and adnroid doesn't come close. Above all who wants to copy everyone with android or iphone like all my friends have or left BB for...the resoltion better than rest, screen size not HUGE! so i still have pocket space, etc etc........
That right there is enough to keep me with BB cuz it's different and easier to use from other platforms...They make what the fans wanted, simple!

good points. Its sad that Blackberry missed the boat to do a launch last year, they could have potentially staved off some of their lost customers, but its good to see that the resulting release is a strong one. WP8 is pretty much screwed.
14. Xtasy (Posts: 284; Member since: 13 Jan 2013)
I agree with u but so far i heard that 50 percent of people from canada who pre ordered the blackberry don't have one so ye off to a good start
17. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 5498; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
I respect your opinion, at least you have stated some arguments!
1. Peek and Flow
I agree that Android or Windows Phone OS don't have it, but we can't say that BlackBerry OS is better than Android or Windows Phone OS because of "Peek and Flow" because it is more question of preference than evident advantage.
2. Live Tiles
In my opinion it also doesn't make BlackBerry OS better than other because Windows Phone also has "Live Tiles" and as you have mentioned already Android has Widgets. Also it can be solved with additional applications.
3. Newfangled Keyboard
Agree, it is something unique, but only unique keyboard can't make whole OS better than other OS(es).
4. Screen size not "HUGE"
There is even more different models with different display sizes in Android camp.
16. papss (unregistered)
I can't imagine people in Canada interested in BB...

Time to eat your words, BBZ10 "shattered" sales records according to PA.
21. theBankRobber (Posts: 674; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
Wow I see the android people are upset with more blackberry news. Its old tech they say.... But you don't need massive hardware for a perfectly optimized OS. Its DOA they say...... Its selling faster then windows phones and its sold out just about everywhere. Its this and Its that blah blah blah. You Blackberry haters are just But Hurt that a promising fresh new OS is on the rise and you feel threatened that it will succeed and make android not so cool anymore. How sad that PA has been overtaken with android users and now they troll in every Apple and Blackberry article.
22. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 5498; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
Again, a lot of propositions and zero factual arguments.
23. axllebeer (Posts: 270; Member since: 05 Apr 2011)
From my eyes, and I'm a BlackBerry, iOS, and Android user here, I think it, looks really great and refreshing. I'm almost certain that the Z10 will be my next device.
24. downbeat4 (Posts: 90; Member since: 03 Dec 2010)
I used one today...it kicked ass...period. This is coming from a guy that owns a large Android memorabilia collection. I love Android, but I'm getting this phone.
25. 9thWonderful (Posts: 232; Member since: 24 Jan 2013)
It's no secret that android fans possess a sickening level tunnel vision when it comes to their OS. The sarcastic, condescending, jealously-based comments that occur & then on top of that you have to give them bullet points on why you may prefer an OS over Android. If you would like to see this in action, ironically, check your latest Apple article. There are plenty of android users there to express their self-righteous opinions.

BB10 may lack some of the applications and needs some tweaks esp. in copy/paste( quite hard to do) and customization we have to take consideration that BB10 os is just a new platform built from scratch i think it's still worth considering and i also think that this BB10 os 1st version is way better than the 1st version of ios or wp7 BB may not be able to give something new or extremely stunning feature but that fact that they we're able to catch up at some point is worth noticing. again we have to remember this os is blackberry version 1.0 it is unfair to compare its features to the current leader top 1 or two but for sure BB can make some update tweaks to maximize the os gesturand so on.. in no time BB10 can catch up or even exceed the wp8 well thats my opinion by the way the BBM seems to reach the point of maturity im really excited to experience the video chat and screen sharing! :)

I wanted to like this as there were things I loved about my 9930. But after trying android on my nexus 4 there are something's that can not at this time be matched on blackberry. The cloud is the big thing I know keep all my music docs and photos in the could and have auto upload with Google +. I don't find peek all that different then the notification bar, I can see the same previews in it as I can in the hub. Also I wish blackberry had a feature like Google now that provides info to you with out you asking for it, the more I use it the more benefit I see. Not hating on blackberry as I may still try the z10 I just wish it could have now or someday will have these features.

Sorry about some of the typos I do miss my 9930 keyboard.

A March launch is just plain stupid...Galaxy S4 announcement, anyone? oh I suppose BB forgot to figure that one out.....
35. speckledapple (Posts: 892; Member since: 29 Sep 2011)
Blackberry cant stop the S4 annoucement like that can with any other phone but that doesnt mean that should not try to focus on their own products and release when they can. I am quite sure that anyone who is at least considering a blackberry would still give it the benefit if they have not chosen yet. But the only ones who have already chosen are the ones who chill on these tech sites saying that they will get a phone they have not even seen yet.

Smart buyers will hold off to a better, faster , smarter phone...the Z10 has no chance whatsoever
32. thealphageek1 (banned) (Posts: 942; Member since: 02 Feb 2013)
I think what a lot of don't realize is that the Z10 launching in March is the fault of BlackBerry, but more the fault of US carriers due to their testing of the product, adding their bloatware, ect.
34. speckledapple (Posts: 892; Member since: 29 Sep 2011)
The US market is important and it probably hurts them that they did not release it at the same time but at least they are. If they can stick tot he schedule, they still may be able to come out on top.
