I liked Google talk, and now it gets even better.

Doesn't seem to be compatible with my Motorola Xoom, no Android tablet support?

Yeah my nexus 7 is also incompatible, it's looks like there is still no tablet support yet.

My Razr "Talk" just updated by itself to Hangouts - not even a play app update... Apparently. Because I got no notification of an update. I went to the Play Store, searched Hangouts, and it said "formerly talk" and my only option was to Open.
It also did not ask me for any phone number notification.... And is not listed in my apps as "Hangouts"
Basically - nothing changed. I haven't done any messaging yet to see for sure.... but it's all the same. Still listed as "Talk" - same icon, same name, and same look in the app.
Plus - not available on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0)

My wife's Nexus had that issue too. If your Talk app hasn't changed, then Hangouts hasn't actually been installed. You need to go to the Play Store on a computer and install from there.

Hi michael, but how did you manage to install from a pc if you can´t uninstall talk?
16. Coopcho (Posts: 3; Member since: 16 May 2013)
Yes like @marbovo said, I can't uninstall the old Talk to install the Hangouts app. And both my phone and my pc is telling me that Hangouts are already installed on my devices which is quite strange..

Thank you for your help, but when on the store on a browser... it just tells me it has been installed on my devices. Which - as I described - is not true.

Nevermind - updated just now.

Am I missing something? I also don't have those settings.

I think I will pass (if I can) until they bring back invisible mode.

I got to use it for the first time this morning on Chrome for PC.....I was not impressed with it. It pops out as a seperate open app on the taskbar on the bottom of the screen which I am not a fan of (especially when I need to use it at work and don't want everyone knowing all of my open chats!!!). It also appears in every open tab of Chrome instead of just in Gmail/other Google sites, which I am also not a fan of.
And if I minimized the pop up of the conversation, I did not get any indications of a new message that was sent in, so I had to randomly check back in to see if I missed anything.
It is not available on my Nexus 7, which shows lack of good planning on Google's part.
Why would you not have it available on one of your own branded devices that is so popular?
I have not been able to try it out yet on my phone so I don't know how different it is on there, but I did notice that it was officially changed to "Hangouts" versus "Talk".
