That is what he is talking about. Tethered modem = Broadband Access Connect. $59.99 a month. Only way to teather the phone.

I too saw the review on inforsyc and i was very dissappointed. They gave the phone a 57% percent rating which is crazy. I have had to phone for almost a day now and i haven't had any problems with the touchscreen they way this guy talks about it in his review. He just doesn't know how to use the phone right yet. So anyone who is thinking about getting a Dare but changed their mind after seeing that review. I'm here to tell you don't listen to it, this phone has been great so far.

Since this is first and foremost a phone, it would have been nice to hear something about the reception...signal strength, sound/voice quality, etc.,

82. (unregistered) posted on 28 Jun 2008, 19:40

Ive had the phone since friday. I'm a new verizon customer and have been really happy with the reception and signal strength. Calls sound perfectly clear, and the people i'm speaking to say the sound quality is great as well. I used to get terrible signal quality at work with my previous provider. With the dare i had a good signal with both 1x and evdo. Web is FAST.

Any comments on the durability of the touch screen?

52. Mo.MPrime (unregistered) posted on 28 Jun 2008, 13:03

it's strong and sturdy, but it will get finger prints on it, and it will probably eventually scratch (like all touch screens) so i'm definitely getting a screen protector

Tried doing a mobile speed test and got about 1.2MB. Tried doing it again and it keeps saying that the connection is too fast. lol. Thank you Rev A!

I ordered my sons phone yesterday at 4:30pm and it arrived today. I did not pay any extra for shipping. I also managed to get the 8gb memory card for free.

HOW!?

58. (unregistered) posted on 28 Jun 2008, 13:54

went to iphone speedtest website and clocked out at 1.7MB the first time and 2.3MB the last time. Ha Ha beat that IPhone! Im willing to bet this will even beat the 3G IPhone.

59. T-DAWG posted on 28 Jun 2008, 14:36

The speeds of the Dare may beat the iPhone (possibly the iPhone 3G), but the phone itself is far from being nearly as good a phone as the iPhone . After a few weeks of using the Dare you will probably get tired of it like I did with my Voyager...let's just face it, Manufacturers are just trying to copy the iPhone (and it's not working). This one I will have to say is, by far, the closest any phone has ever come to the iPhone (I don't care what they say about the Instinct). But there are bound to be glitches and downfalls to this phone very often. Why? Because this phone only took 6 months (tops) to create. Whereas the iPhone took 2 and a half years to create (even it had some things to fix!). Bottom line is this: If these so called "iPhone killers" are going to even be worthy of being compared to the iPhone they need to 1. Have more time taken to create them. 2. Be a smart-phone. and 3. Have a LARGE touch-screen (more than 3 inches). Is this so hard to accomplish? It is in a matter of months. If someone out there would just take more time upon planning these phone's they would actually be pretty cool. If you plan on buying this phone because you think it's better than the iPhone, all I have to say is: I warned you.

i couldnt agree with you more. it seems like all these phone companies are dieing to come out with a touch phone the fastest. by doing so they fall short in the actual usability of the device. of course any one can slap together a bunch of applications and features that can market the phone easier but the true challenge is to create a device that is fluid, responsive, and exciting to use. i dont know much about this lg touch...it definitely looks neat, but from some reviews, the responsiveness looks like it fell short. its ashame because like you said, if they just took more time to refine the usability, all touch phones would be looked upon evenly with the iphone. the reason why the iphone is so successful is because the interface is so easy, so responsive, and so sexy. not because it has more options than another phone. the iphone lacks some major features but people sacrifice them for a device that doesnt have major glitches

Finally, someone with some sense around here.

I beg to differ...The Dare is SUPERIOR to the iphoney. Pint one: LG was making innovative touch screen devices prior to the icrap (ggogle "LG prada"). Pint 2: It has so much of what iphone is missing (video, SMs texting, mobile IM - actually too much to list). Verizon has no desire to compete with the iphone - they turned down the iphone and were smart to do so. With he outrages fees Apple charges for the phone and the ridiculous fees you have to pay for the iphone, the Dare is a much better value for the non-business user. Fourth point: I have found the size of the phone ideal. Last point: Most importantly - a phone is only as good as a network - and everyone who knows anything know Verizon is king of the networks. Anyone who has spent a serious amount of time looking at the Dare will quickly point out that the question isn't whether the dare can compete with the iphone, but whether the iphone can compete with the Dare.

85. (unregistered) posted on 28 Jun 2008, 21:05

It is better than the iphone. It's able to send/receive pic and video, take, video, better camera, flash for camera, hapatic feedback and the most obvious the best network with more 3g coverage. So why is the iphone better? Because it has a pretty screen?? This phone is way better... and by the way LG came out with the Prada before Apple with the iphone. So who's copying who?

86. (unregistered) posted on 28 Jun 2008, 21:07

Iphone no major glitches hahha.... my friend got one a few months ago and the touch screen didn't work when it got to his house. Don't pretend like you know what ur talking about. Alot of touch screen phones (no matter who makes them) will have glitches

I don't know where you get the idea that the dare took 6 months to create, but whatever. And just because a phone has a touchscreen doesn't mean it's an iphone copy.... I'd say this phone looks much more like the prada than the iphone. And this whole comparison with the iphone shouldn't even be happening because the iphone is meant to be a smartphone. For business people (whether or not it provides is debatable). The lg dare and voyager are meant to be high end feature/messaging phones. Not smartphones. Your comment of the time it took to create is based on the time since the release of the voyager, no? And if you had thought about that comment you'd realize that lg doesn't only develop one phone at a time. Heck, the voyager and dare were probably in production at the same time at some point. Anyway. that's my 2 cents

145. (unregistered) posted on 09 Jul 2008, 21:53

I agree the interface is easy and its just neat it is reponsive I went to a verizon store and I have an Iphone I would never switch to the dare because of how not responsive the touch screen is.
