not bad but i would have prefered at least a 4.5" screen because im used to my gs3 screen size. But nun the less a solid phone.

9. Nookie4u posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:28 2 1

imm, yes, a lot of people prefer bigger screens nowadays, I wonder why they didn't put a bigger one on this beauty..

16. Wiki_jaan posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:36 5 1

what about Ativ S 4.8''

31. ogy_dogy posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:59 10 5

Lousy samsung design, if this is a polycarb single shell like on the lumia its far better, some people dont compensate their own lackings with bigger phones :D

40. Doakie posted on 19 Sep 2012, 11:25 9

Meh. Dismissing other people's preference of larger screens as "Small penis syndrome" is rather short sighted. Some people just prefer larger screens, does everyone have to like what you like? That's like saying anyone with a full size car has a small penis and all Smart car drivers are well endowed... The logic doesn't work.

If you're not a fan of Samsung's design that's a valid personal opinion. My personal taste is the opposite of yours, I'd take an Ativ S over all other designs. But that's just my opinion.

45. ogy_dogy posted on 19 Sep 2012, 12:28 1

You see the smiley face in the end, i was kidding, id love to have a huge car, phone, not so much. As for the sammys, i just cant get over their construction methods, but as you say thats my opinion, i always preffered tanks over planes :-P

21. Nathan_ingx posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:48 4

If Beats audio is HTC's answer for the 'Floating lens' tech in 920, then HTC has lots of gap to fill up. Otherwise, this phone could be good for some serious music enthusiast, though i heard Beats isn't much enhancement in the phone. (Wondering if there is an expandable memory card slot)
But the phone definitely looks sleek...

33. snowgator posted on 19 Sep 2012, 11:08 4

I think the 4.3" option is fine. Both Nokia and Samsung have huge screens if that is a deal breaker for you. This is the industry average these days. There are those who want top shelf options in a smaller screen. Some are probably upset there is no elite device in a 3.7" or 4.0" screen size.

2. bobfreking55 posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:26 8 4

awesome! Windows Phone will beat iOS in no time!

3. jimjam posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:26 10 5

Wow looks like a lumia. Bad HTC.

23. kirholstov posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:49 5 14

I think that it looks better than lumia

32. jed27 posted on 19 Sep 2012, 11:04 3 2

lumias looks way better. even the 8S looks better than 8X. lumia920>8S>8X design-wise.

34. Commentator posted on 19 Sep 2012, 11:08 3

Kirholstov, I voted you down because you expressed your opinion. You see, many of the commenters on PhoneArena are Nazis, and in lieu of being able to leverage the fear of death, choose to vote people down. I'm sure you understand.

41. kirholstov posted on 19 Sep 2012, 11:29 2

Guys, this is only my opinion. I love the design of lumia but htc's design is a bit closer to me. I know that htc maybe even have copied Nokia's design. But I always loved htc design. Two years ago I bought htc desire. I'm happy with it. This year, probably, I will buy a new phone, and now I'm choosing between iPhone 5, Android and WP8.

42. Commentator posted on 19 Sep 2012, 11:35 2

You're lucky to have these choices. When I was in the market for a new phone last spring it was a choice between Android, a vastly inferior WP7, and the aging iPhone 4S. Needless to say, I pretty much had only one choice...

Given the same opportunity now though, I don't know what I'd choose: all three operating systems have their benefits.

(By the way, I didn't actually vote you down.)

44. kirholstov posted on 19 Sep 2012, 11:55

Where are you from? :)

46. ogy_dogy posted on 19 Sep 2012, 12:31 1

Dafuq? I vote people down cos i dont agree with them, but i do appreciate their right to voice their opinion. If you look at all the tumbs up/down you see what people think, not who hates whom...

37. snowgator posted on 19 Sep 2012, 11:14 2

How can we judge without actually seeing them in person?

I will say this- Nokia and HTC are really entering the multi-color device world hard. If you want a more traditional look like a professional who is at meetings or clients a lot, maybe just your preference, the Samsung ATIV might actually score some points as it has a look way more mature (wrong word, but only one that is coming to my head right now).

I really like the multi-color options from Nokia and HTC. I have been itching for some choices. I love me some Samsung, but HTC has scored some points with me. The 8X will get a look see.

48. -box- posted on 19 Sep 2012, 12:34 2

Both HTC and Nokia still offer black (and will probably release white versions later), and the gray one the 920 is nice enough. That said, I don't mind the colors, especially in a corporate environment, as it seems to state that I have a sense of individuality and personalization and won't conform to the monochromatic attitude

47. -box- posted on 19 Sep 2012, 12:32 3

At least it looks good, and isn't a blatant copy like the ipod touch. I really like the curvature on the sides to the glass, much like the N9, Lumia 800, and the new ones, looks so inviting to touch and feel, unlike the harsh sharp edges of iDevices or the severe edge to the face transistion (typically with a different material ring, making it an even more unpleasent textural transistion) on many samsungs

4. neutralguy posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:27 4

looks like a lumia 820 with that color!

5. Savage posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:27 5 3

Lumia-like design by HTC. Fancy stepping into Samsung's shoes?

29. Veigald posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:57 2

Agreed. Looks like a bit duller Lumia 920, with less interesting colours and a somewhat unsharp feel (hard to put the finger on).

49. -box- posted on 19 Sep 2012, 12:36 1

I agree that the colors are less interesting (the yellow looks like old dull highlighter, unappealing), but I find the blue to be very pleasant. I've never been much of a fan of red, so I'll admit a slight bias there. Nokia's red is much oranger, so it's striking without being typical

6. papss posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:27 3

Me likes! Im happy to see all the support on w8 right now. As a Android owner this is good for competition.

7. ahhxd717 posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:28 1

Any word on whether there's an SD slot or not? Otherwise I'm really liking this phone. 4.3 inches is enough for me and that screen sounds awesome. The Lumia is still probs my top choice though

22. exynos5 posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:48 2

nope...the review is here...http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/19/windows-phone-8x-by-htc-hands-on-microsofts-modern-mobile-os-p/

8. jimjam posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:28

Does wp8 slove issues like wifi turning off when the screen is locked? Or internet sharing cutting off if there is a short period of inactivity? These two really forced me to buy another phone other than wp7.

28. Mobile-X-Pert posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:52 2

None of those issues are present on WP8. WP8 is like a whole new OS.

10. cdgoin posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:28

Eh... looks like a rectangular touch screen smart phone.. I WANT A QWERTY KEYBOARD darn it.. I want a DVP style device.. I guess for now its off to ebay to find a replacement DVP (Ironically.. keyboard is acting up)

50. -box- posted on 19 Sep 2012, 12:37

Bluetooth keyboard. Done.

11. bobfreking55 posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:29 1

this isn't enough to beat the Ativ's 4.8" display and I prefer the Ativ S' design. This design language is very common nowadays.

12. sarb009 posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:30 2

wow !! new lumia phone by htc

13. cGmC11 posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:30 3

14. pikapowerize (banned) posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:32 2

not bad at all!! look good! and HTC is now out with their black and white phones!!!

but honestly, 16GB only? with memory card or non expandable?

15. FranksGT posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:35

Condsidering HTC has had this same DESIGN for awhile you Sir are wrong and a APPLE lover obviously.

The only thing that has changed in HTC design is the front glass from what it looks likes. the back looks like a INspire/Desire/Evo

17. Joshing4fun posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:36 1

It's alright. Not enough to make upgrade from my HTC Radar off contract though. Nokia still in the lead too.

18. satydesh posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:39 1

lumia all the way.this look like ugly lumias!!!

19. skymitch89 posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:39 1

I'm thinking that the color/design isn't specific to the device manufactures, but I'm thinking that it's specific to Microsoft. Otherwise how would multiple device manufacturers develop devices that all look really similar.

35. Commentator posted on 19 Sep 2012, 11:11 1

In an interview an HTC rep stated that they were going for what a LiveTile would look like in real life, like if you were to actually hold one. I'm sure that's probably the same inspiration Nokia used.

20. McJobs posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:48 1

Lumia 920 is a winner this year.

24. Aeires (unregistered) posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:51

These are the types of phones Windows should have launched with, not gradually building up to them. Now that the OS has some great handsets, let's see if the gradual increase can pick up momentum.

51. -box- posted on 19 Sep 2012, 12:43

I don't disagree, but Windows Phone 7 and 7.5 weren't capable of phones like this. I would rather they had released 7/7.5 to build a name and get momentum going than start off with 8 (which would have been called 7) which would then be an untested and arguably untrusted system.

25. The_Innovation posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:51

720x1280 with 342 ppi...on a 4.3 inch screen? Holy s***!

26. mrllano posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:51

I think that design is going to be the trend for Windows Phone. It's pretty though

27. dawolf posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:52 1

that's the problem with windows phone they're all the same!

30. jed27 posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:57

but.. but.. but i like the design of 8S much much better than this. oh well..

36. Commentator posted on 19 Sep 2012, 11:13 1

I'd like to see HTC pay homage to the original Touch Diamond, complete with LED circle and everything.

39. ahhxd717 posted on 19 Sep 2012, 11:18 1

Me too! I loved the design of that phone. It would be cool if HTC picked up the Diamond line again for their WP's

38. Tsepz_GP posted on 19 Sep 2012, 11:15 1 1

Im suprised they didnt give it the 4.7" display of the One X. HTC were the ones pushing the screen size limit in WP and Android, now they seem to be more conservative, im guessing the Titan2 didnt sell that well after all?

The WP8 flagships are rather dull, i must say. They all have VERY similar specs, same features missing, and obviously the same UI, its like the same phone, just with a different name on it, it's a damn shame.

Looking forward to HTC's S4 Pro based Android flagship, clearly WP isn't going far.

43. 7thspaceman posted on 19 Sep 2012, 11:40 1

wow why only 16 gigs with no SD card expansion for this smart phones main memory of their best windows phone 8 device. Hmm HTC make a 32 gig vertion real quick please

52. -box- posted on 19 Sep 2012, 12:44

Skydrive, and other cloud storage, works well, but I agree, I like having physical media so I can switch devices without syncing stuff

53. KingKurogiii posted on 19 Sep 2012, 13:08

...i kind of want this. man Verizon has so many phones that i want now!

54. jibraihimi posted on 19 Sep 2012, 14:25

Does this phone has micro sd slot or not...........??? Because other sites are reporting that it has micro sd slot to expand the internal storage which is 16GB.............

55. jibraihimi posted on 19 Sep 2012, 14:28

If this phone really has micro sd slot then Nokia should take a look at this device, and learn how to incorporate Micro Sd slot in polycarbonate unibody, without affecting it's look..........

56. regkilla posted on 19 Sep 2012, 20:15 1

looks cool

57. Nikolas.Oliver (limited) 3 days ago posted on 19 Sep 2012, 21:14 1

i really hate the design, not elegant,

58. pikapowerize (banned) posted on 19 Sep 2012, 21:59

it looks nice but i think this isnt a worthy flagship! its a stepdown from titan/titan2!

59. DP777 posted on 09 Oct 2012, 18:36

Nokia Lumia 920 has better dispalay by size, sensitivity, brightness and resolution and the best camera on the market, 32 GB of memory against 16 of HTC, Lumia 920 has wireless charger and HD Dolby Stereo sound, better battery, the best navigation and maps, Nokia City Lens, exclusive maps, Optical image stabilisation great accessories. HTC might compete only with Lumia 820, but Lumia 820 is still better and has some unike features just compare and you will see that HTC 8X by all specs is avarege phone, some specs are good but it's not not a flagman.
