HTC to stop offering Beats Audio technology on future handsets?
0. phoneArena posted on 22 Aug 2012, 22:54
HTC has stopped adding Beats earphones in the box along with its new handsets and has given up control of the company which all together could mean that HTC will stop offering Beats technology on its smartphones...

You do have a point , but isn't mp3 players are being replaced by smartphones , I don't think those crappy galaxy player devices sell very good

Well...not fond of beats audio anyway...MusicFX or DSP Manager are best sound enhancers

Agreed beats suck... I would like to see sennheiser or something make a phone speaker that would be awesome!

Harmon kardon , Bose or bang and Olufsen will be nice

I'd love to see a phone come with some bose earbuds. Seriously some of the best sounding in ears I've heard in my life.

I agree, I've never tried Music Fx but DSP is way better.... even works when streaming netflix over bluetooth while at the gym doing cardio on the elliptical! Lol

it just a logo...beats technology...give me a break... set of predefined equalizer settings...
7. nicholassss posted on 22 Aug 2012, 23:24 6 0
exactly, I happen to have been in the recording industry for quite a while, and their headphones are just sorta louder than the rest and anything beats audio sounds like it has a "smiley-face" EQ curve.

the beats headphones i just a product of hype and good marketing. As far as sound quality, from my experience trying them out in store, they tend to be too bass heavy. They are not good monitoring headphones.
36. nicholassss posted on 23 Aug 2012, 21:04 0 0
Maybe its a sign of my nerdom, but I use monitoring headphones for everything pretty much, the engineer spent a lot of time to make a record sound good, who am i to ruin it with bad EQ or headphones with a very unnatural frequency response.

Paid for the brand name, sound still sounded rubbish.

In all honesty, I tried on a pair of Beats headphones and I didn't really see the big difference. It could just be me. I'm not saying anything against those who buy them, but I do think they are overhyped. Also, Beats was another one of those "everyone who's anyone has these" items. It reminds me of going into a coffee shop and seeing Macbooks everywhere or when you were a kid and everyone wore those light it up sneakers.

the beats audio enhancement in my Laptop does make my speakers sound well.
11. Savage posted on 22 Aug 2012, 23:57 4 0
Beats do sound nice with their bass-enhancing but that's it. In the long run, it ain't worthy buying headsets of that cost whereas their are many equalizers in the Play Store, some are free.

I'd rather buy htc phone with beats than without! Ok, maybe some people say that it's 'crap', I have beats solo hd and they are much better than regular headphones! But if you don't have beats and you've never tried them, just don't tell anything!
19. thelegend6657 posted on 23 Aug 2012, 01:34 1 1
They are better than regular 50 bucks headphones , but they are nowhere close to othernheadphones of its price

My buddy has a Rezound so I gave the Beats buds a test. They seemed muddy and shrill with low comfort level.
Recently snatched a set of the Klipsch S4A (for Android) ear buds with inline mic. Decent sound, good looks, extreme comfort, not fussy, less than $100. I highly recommend for anyone who listens to music on their phone. They also make an S4i (for iPhone).
Worth a look.

I have the Rezound as well and tried out the included iBeats. Yes, they are a step up from the regular ear buds that come with some phones but they still sucked. Wires felt cheap and the sound was muddy. It does look good with the phone though.
Now I'm using the Klipsch S4i Rugged (red), Shure SE215, and Soul SL49 earbuds. This way I'll still have something good should one of them break. I also have a FiiO E5 amp if I feel like having some more oomph from my iPod Nano or Rezound but not needed for my Cowon D2/ J3.
Now that I think about it, Cowon needs to make a phone that has a Wolfson DAC and BBE... or HTC can make a phone with that stuff.

Even if you don't use beats headphones the beats equalisers still works rights ?
Btw I am using Harmon kardon AE
24. JC557 posted on 23 Aug 2012, 02:09 0 0
Not sure, I never bothered with that. Just plug straight in and use music player. I tried the included Beats headphones on my Cowon to see what they are like and they fell flat as the Cowon's hardware is superior. Same after 100 hour break in.
I had the Harmon Kardon AE and NI. Nice sound but could've used more isolation. I didn't have my Monster Supertips at the time to see if they could be better.
26. thelegend6657 posted on 23 Aug 2012, 02:22 0 1
When you plug in your cowon try turn on beats audio to see if there is a difference , to me there is .
But I don't have a HTC I am using g nexus
15. thelegend6657 posted on 23 Aug 2012, 01:27 1 1
I don't like beats headphones , tried one and it sucks
But the beats equalisers are good when using it with high end headphones of another brand such as harmon kardon so I think it's good for HTC to keep them

Beats Audio being just a software enhancement didn't have great effect even not that up to the mark in Phones. May be it need to have user optimizable as well as auto optimized like features configuration to have more variaton to its sound enhancement. Seriously HTC it self SRS enhancement was good enough too. I have used it in Amaze 4g and I was impressed. Beats Audio still fall back for phones enhancements upto now need to work out for more auto stablized performance specifically for phones.

As long as there are a beats logo on the phone im ok with it :D
28. Nathan_ingx posted on 23 Aug 2012, 04:05 1 0
Come on!!! This topic has been talked about months before...and Beats didn't disappear...it just hanged on!
Seriously, Beats software and some equalizer without a hardware in the phone is nothing but just another music player...
Might as well buy a decent pair of headphones and plug it on a Xpressmusic phone!
32. Hunt3rj2 posted on 23 Aug 2012, 09:36 1 0
Good. Get rid of the beats branding because it's absolutely retarded, and instead deliver actual sound fidelity from both the external speaker and mic jack, and then put universal equalizer settings for the speaker and headphone jack.
33. gwuhua1984 posted on 23 Aug 2012, 10:19 0 0
I think it's a good thing they're ending Beats. Always seemed more like a marketing gimmick to me, as big as Beats was, it's too bad that it couldn't help HTC back up.
34. kindahipdude posted on 23 Aug 2012, 10:43 0 0
The Beats sucks on their phones! HTC should never have done this, the Galaxy S III has way better sound and sound options.

I think the best smartphone in audio departement (especially recording) is the Nokia 808 Pureview. The inbuild speaker sound terefic.
These stupid handset makers should better use better speakers into their handsets. They NEED to be louder without distortion!
A friend has a Xperia U (which also has some audio enhancements Xloud I think) and my Nokia 701 sounds WAY louder and cleaner then her Xperia U. You can hear my phone while inserted in a leather case inside a handbag while hers is barely audible.
Handset makers ought to concentrate on using BETTER components instead of marketing tricks.

HTC should "Beat" the Sh** out of their phones!! :D
41. HUSSAM posted on 18 Nov 2012, 05:59 0 0
WHAT?!!!!!!!!!!! They are cancelling beats audio, that was the main reason why I bought their phones, I am warning them, if they cancel beats, their sales will go down!!
