any word on when this will release on vzw? no need for all you bashers to start crying about how vzw takes forever. it's a simple question and requires a simple answer.

with a phone like this I do believe sprint has an exclusive on it for a given amount of time. When this happens VZW tends to release a better device rather than take a while testing it. Having worked for both companies I would say that VZW wont carry this phone.

3. (unregistered) posted on 04 Aug 2008, 08:54

why wouldnt they carry the phone? if u worked for verizon b4, then u would no that verizon is in fact getting the device

4. (unregistered) posted on 04 Aug 2008, 09:10

I'd expect exclusivity of 30 to 45 days, especially having in mind there already are rumors for VZW getting it ...

I know there is a lot of "rumor" about this phone coming to VZW but I need concrete PROOF!!! I, personally would love to see this phone come to VZW. I don't know if anyone here remembers but ealier this year, HTC was supposed to release the Iris. It too was a rumor and showed up on Phonearena's site as one of Verizon's upcoming phones. It never happened!!! I really don't know what the deal with HTC is. They are good company when it comes to PDAs. They released great PDAs for each on of the top four companies: Mogul (Sprint), XV6800 (Verizon's Mogul variant), Wing (T-Mobile), and Tilt (AT&T). But out of those four, only the XV6800 is next to impossible to find support for on HTC's website. The Mogul is there but there are little differences between the two devices. Let's just HOPE this doesn't happen when the Diamond hits America. And if a Verizon version of this phone is truly in the works, then I am ready to upgrade my XV6800 when it comes out. Then again, I just might opt for the Raphael (another rumor).

well since this phone is coming for VERIZON...i would guess it would be around chirstmas time maybe even november if we get lucky...and this is becasue of all the testing they go through....but i have no idea how long the exclusivity with sprint is

6. dumbasses (unregistered) posted on 04 Aug 2008, 09:26

it is not an exclusive product for sprint and should not be advertised as such, my Dad works for HTC marketing and knows this device is coming to VZW in November, and it will have some enhancements.

7. (unregistered) posted on 04 Aug 2008, 10:10

can you provide more details without your dad getting in trouble? enhancements? november? how exciting! i can't wait to use my new-every-two for at least a partial discount on this beauty.

Would you also please elaborate and/or confirm the rumor that the HTC Diamond is coming to Sprint in August?

I have official training documents for Sprint (my buddy works there, I work for VZ Dub) that show the GSM variant pictures but explicitly state the names of the phones and specs. FYI, the sprint will NOT have the Diamond OR the Touch Pro, simply put: VZW will. The document (Competitive Comparison)which I am more than happy to send to anyone who does not believe me, shows Sprints as being called the "Herman" (I have to chuckle at that name), it will be aluminum cased whereas VZWs will be the Raphael with slightly different specs and stainless steel casing. The processor for Sprint is the Qualcom 7501A 528 MHZ 32MB ISM. The VZW is Qualcom 7500, 400 MHZ 64MB ISM. The Herman has 256 RAM and Raphael is 128 MB RAM, both have 256 ROM. The Herman has a "Motion G" Sensor, basically an accelerometer. Both are Rev A out of the box, aluminum framed, WIFI B/G, 3.2 Megapix AF lenses with flash, and have internal GPS, OPERA browsers and touchflo 3D. For the "Diamond": Sprint: 7501A processor, 256 ram and rom and 4 GB of flash memory(!!!!), motion G sensor, no mem card expansion, rev a out of box, and all the same from above. VZW: 7500, 256 ROM 128 Ram, no motion G, mem card expansion slot, Rev A upgradeable (means will be out first), and finally the sweet stainless steel casing. SPRINTS: called the Victor (lol, have to laugh again) VZWS: Diamond ENJOI

hey i really hope you reply to this, but i also work for sprint, and am wondering where you found this information at?? i would like to know for future reference!! please and thanks

Ouch - no memcard expansion on the Sprint version? That could be a real pain in the butt...

9. (unregistered) posted on 04 Aug 2008, 10:49

i know for a fact that alltel is supposed to get this phone as well this month. so if a company being bought out and this small is getting the diamond then its obviously not exclusive

10. (unregistered) posted on 04 Aug 2008, 12:30

im a advocate for the diamond at my store and the diamond and the pro will be 30 day exclusives. the pro will launch october 2nd 1 month after the diamond.

11. (unregistered) posted on 04 Aug 2008, 13:15

well since both companies are running on CDMA why cant the one on sprint work on vzw? jw

12. (unregistered) posted on 04 Aug 2008, 13:41

Enhancements meaning making the thing work like crap or overcharging for data?

15. (unregistered) posted on 04 Aug 2008, 14:40

I was thinking more along the lines of locking it down from OTA downloads (unless you are paying for them from VZX) or maybe a lower quality housing like they did with the 6900. I wonder if they will launch it with the HTC name or rebrand it like they have done in the past.

22. LessthanZach posted on 05 Aug 2008, 00:36

VZW does not lock down OTA downloads on their PDAs. I know because I have the 6900 and I downloaded around 15 third party apps for free from freewarepocketpc.net and several other sites. And Verizon I AM sure will rebrand it. I have official training documents for Sprint (my buddy works there, I work for VZ Dub) that show the GSM variant pictures but explicitly state the names of the phones and specs. FYI, the sprint will NOT have the Diamond OR the Touch Pro, simply put: VZW will. This phone will be released for Verizon in quarter 4. That's what my higher up managment is telling me. We will be recieving the Touch Pro and Diamond.

14. (unregistered) posted on 04 Aug 2008, 14:12

To the guy who said Alltel is getting this phone, thats entirely 100% wrong. Reason is most companies are holding because Verizon buying Alltel. Alltel is a done deal... No reason to produce phones for a company that has till the end of the year.
