HTC reports better earnings for Q1 2008
The Taiwanese company, which is currently at the number 1 position on the Windows Mobile mobile phone market, shows better financial reports for Q1 2008, compared to last year. Apparently, the smartphone giant performed better than expected, unlike Motorola and Palm, earning NT$32.7 billion (US$1.08 billion) in revenue for the January-March period. This is a 38.6% increase, compared to Q1 2007, but a 16.2% decrease from the previous quarter. According to inside information, “The first-quarter bonus-adjusted net earnings were higher than expected due to a higher-than-expected gross margin and lower operating expenses in the January-March period."
