HTC had a miserable Q4, but a wonderful December

0. phoneArena posted on 08 Jan 2013, 10:44

Sure, the fourth quarter of 2012 might have been HTC's most miserable quarter yet, with revenue dropping to just $2.07 billion, but there's still hope for the Taiwanese manufacturer, as it has obviously had a stronger-than-usual December...

I hope Windows Phone will continue to aid HTC in their recovery.

How many OEMs are seriously making WP8 phones now? Only Nokia (no choice) and HTC (bribed by MS).

But seriously HTC needs much more than 1 month to see if they have reached the bottom. A host of 1080p competitors to DNA are coming very soon.

Nokia/HTC are the serious OEM's and then you have Samsung/Huaweii/Alcatel (WP7.5)

Android almost killed HTC, WP8 came to her rescue :)

Yo... it's quite the other way round... HTC stopped innovating on the Android front... with it's non Sense UI which hasn't changed for years now... Multitasking restrictions... They invested in spoiling a beautiful OS...We are getting reports about the Sense 5 which is supposedly a lighter skin with the UI being Simple and Beautiful... If that is true HTC will get back at it....

I don't understand why you WP8 are so jealous about Android...It's tons more functional, beautiful and beautiful than WP8 anyway...Any doubts....?

WP must save itself first, LOL

it's a bankrupt man (WP) trying to look like a billionaire benefactor.

See what price WP8 "signature phone" 8X is selling now?

Even poor sales of android sales will be 100 times more than successful sales of windows phone...
Article didn't said android killed htc...it is that competition is more in android than wp as expected...

Yep looks like their sales are started to slow. Most people now and days either buy GS III or another manufacturere

Android was not killing htc sales but htc was killing themselves by not making their phones competitive enough interms of user expectations in phones i.e low capacity battery, lack of sd. HTC DNA helped them because it was the only 5" 441 ppi phone available. We let's see what will happen whether others are released.

Htc had a nice bundle of The Desire c in some areas bundled with free UrBeats for around 150 smackers,it was received extremely well by shoppers accross the board no Doubt contributing to a good December.

All in all Htc deserve a good turn around, they rested too much on their laurels around 2010 - 2011 but have really put an effort in recently

I remember my old TILT WINDOWS 6.5 phone - great, solid feeling phone for its time...2007.

HTC is great, they just need to make their wonderful devices available on all the carriers, update their devices quicker, and have a removable battery and sd card slot. Personally I don't mind the removable battery, but right now I'm guessing they don't want to sacrifice their great designs for the removable battery/sd card.

We'll see what the M7 brings!

HTC fan :)

HTC makes great phones... I am using HTC since the WIndows 6.5 days.. My first android was the HTC Desire HD (I chose it over the then ruling Samsung Galaxy S) and my current phone is HTC ONE X(Chose it over Samsung Galaxy S III/ Note II). The main reason for my going with HTC is the premium look of the handset.. but yes.. they need to give regular updates to their phones.. My Desire HD was stuck on Gingerbread (No updates from HTC) but i rooted the phone to Jellybean and it was running perfectly.. I think the HTC Sense(Beautiful UI) doesnt let the phones get updates due to its size and RAM needs.. They should not force the users to buy a new phone by making their phones outdated.. coz they dont know whether a previous HTC user will update to another HTC Phone.. Instead they should keep updating the phones which will keep the users happy and bring them back to HTC.. Also, They make critical errors while making their phones like the HTC ONE X only has 1 GB RAM as compared to SIII. If they are first to the market(with a Quad Core) then they should try to be the best as well.. Samsung has neat software tricks(S Voice and so on) but HTC should not let Samsung beat them in hardware atleast.
