While the HTC One X was recently privy to a software update that was purported to improve Wi-Fi connectivity and throughput on the device, some users continued to insist that there is a hardware issue with some HTC One Xs...

Screw you htc...what will happen to existing devices? Its been just two days I bought One X...and been wondering wifi problem has to do with location of router at home.

At least HTC is acknowledging the issue which means they won't leave current One X owners hanging. Also, not all One X owners are having issues, it is very isolated.
If this was Samsung, they would ignore the problem like they did with the GPS issues on the Galaxy S I & II. Then again, Samsung's radios are pretty weak so they probably thought it was normal operation. To this day, my SGS2 still has a hell of a hard time connecting to GPS.

The past is the past, and Samsung have changed to the point where even very very minor paint defects are recalled (eg, Pebble Blue SGS3).
I never had an issue with my SGS2 GPS, but for sure the SGS1 GPS was pretty ordinary.
Regardless, HTC - the phone company thats known only for its awesome build quality, really fcuked up on this one....

But they didn't fcuk up, the phone has an issue, like many other new phones do, and they are acknowledging it. The WiFi issue only applies to a FEW Tegra 3 versions, the problem does NOT apply to the US Snapdragon version of the phone.
Samsung is a business like any other, they will do whatever it takes to make money, their track record is not exactly great when it comes to customer service after the sale, which includes timely updates.

thats not true my nexus has horrible signal issuea that samsung still hasnt fixed 4.0.4 didnt help at all

Isutigers I have to say you hit the nail on the head with that comment. HTC is very good about customer satisfaction, and have acknowledge there might be a problem, Samsung has the same issue all the time because they use the same crappy parts, and send out lame azz updates to fix it.

Uh, something called a warranty.
They were very accommodating with the creaking issue with the HTC sensations.

HTC are handling this all wrong.
Step 1 - Deny the issue.
Step 2 - Tell users they're holding it wrong.
Step 3 - Claim that all phones have this issue.
Step 4 - Give away a free case that fixes the issue, even though the issue doesn't exist.

More like how Android is blowing iOS out of the water in market share. Or how Samsung blew Apple to second place smartphone manufacturer. Or how the SGSIII blasted into the fastest selling phone position. Or how the RAZR HD exploded into first place for sales on Verizon.
But, good news. We do have some new material. I mean, I didn't think Apple could get any more petty and absurd than the holding it wrong gaffe, then they write a legal brief asserting that a tap is a "zero length swipe," so tapping to unlock violates their stolen/copied slide to unlock patent. Thats some good stuff, too.

when a company like apple(which is quite famous for providing great after sales service) didn't recall it's phones for having big hardware issues... i don't think that htc would ever do that

HTC are already showing more class than Apple by at least admitting the issue exists. To this day, Apple still insists that touching the gap between the two exposed antennas was not an issue, and was no different that the proximity interference other phones experience.
That said, Apple didn't recall, but they did extend the return period, waive restock fees and offer a free bumper that alleviated the issue. To my mind, that was more than sufficient. No one was stuck with the issue.

no no, I've meant shipped, but not yet sold stocks; so basically phones that are sitting on the shelves at the moment.
It'd be good business practice to recall them.

Of course not, why would HTC actually go out and TRY to fix the problem. They are too worried about "profits". More power to them on making money, but if they want to keep screw customers, then they can't expect to keep making those "profits" they covet so dearly. So much for HTC turning their misfortunes around.

I want them to support their devices, ones that I own, for 18 months like they said they would. That's what I want. I never said that "other OEM's don't care about profits", I said that HTC cares more about profits than making and supporting their products anymore.

Buy an extended warranty buddy, no OEM offers a factory warranty over 12 months. And, if you're talking about software support, you should know that even Google, which owns Android, scrapped plans that promised consumers software updates for 18 months through the Android Update Alliance.

It won't take much for HTC to recall and fix...overall...phone is awesome...this is my first HTC phone...and I think HTC should do whatever it takes to win customeer's trust...otherwise...it won't take long to sell this phone and wait for s3.

Even though HTC still has great potential..., quality of their phones is decreasing day by day.
They just need to improve their R&D and also fix the already existing issues that are quite synonymous with HTC devices

No their quality is not decreasing. This happens all the time. Look when you mass produce something there are always some bad units that make it to the public. This happens to ALL OEM's.
HTC has a history of making very HIGH quality devices, look at the reviews, they say HTC build quality is TOP NOTCH!

You & I really don't know that for sure. Also based on this article HTC is acknowledging the issue. I quote: "While many customers have not experienced any problems with signal strength, we have taken immediate steps to implement a solution in our production process to prevent this issue from happening in the future". At least they are admitting some problem unlike Apple who said that people are holding their products wrong.
Based on that how do you know it's "a large no"? Like I said you and I don't know for sure so let's not pretend to know the answer here when we clearly don't.
HTC makes an ABOVE average phone & their people are working very hard to fix this issue in the future. HTC’s quality is not decreasing as you said before.

One X has unibody construction...build quilaity is un-arguably best...and display...I'll just say...you won't miss SAMOLED :)
Performance wise...on daily usage...I don't see any diff from my sgs2 (with exynos)...I thought my sgs2 running aokp has best sound quality...but beats audio can reproducce low sounds very effectively...its pleasure to listen music.

Have you seen the EVO 4G LTE aluminum unibody? That phone screams quality, easily the best built phone in recent memory. The One X is no slouch either.
HTC has always built quality phones, to the point where they wonte enter the low end market in China due to the sacrifise

It's not only the international version, here at&t us version has the wifi problem as well. My one x keeps dropped connection (on and off) to 15 foot away from router

Started with the Thunderbolt....and they are releasing phones with the same issues...reason for declining sales...they havent produced nothing of significant value on vw to date....thunderbolt..rhyme..trophy..rezound..incredible 1 and 2..all flops

The most recent OTA Update from HTC to try & fix the issue had a negative effect on the phone's performance as well.. HTC has yet to acknowledge this..

Before the OTA Update I would score over 5,000 regularly.. Now.. after more than 60 tests ran on a full charge on Quadrant Standard I can't score a single 5,000 to save my life! I'm not the only one who has noticed this!

I was waiting months to get a HTC One X, but before they released I switched to Verizon and bought a used Rezound. I know I made the right choice, specs and phone display sound and look great, but no true multitasking and antenna problems.... what else?

Kinda late with this post.. but the issue I complained about seems to have been fixed with the most recent OTA update. I've scored higher than ever on Quadrant Standard now with a 5643.. Pretty damn amazing for a dual core phone :)
