HTC Windows Phone 8X to come in 8GB and 16GB versions at AT&T?
Share:
The source also passed along the word that the carrier has started training staff on Windows Phone 8, and that is where the 8GB model was spotted. In theory, it is possible that an 8GB model was produced just for training purposes. AT&T will be taking pre-orders for the phone on October 21st so we should know shortly if the 8GB model will be offered to consumers.

8GB without MSD is a blunder, irrespective of who does it.

It's funny to me how so many people think their own needs are reflective of everyone else's. A lot of people don't need all that much space on their phones. For instance, I don't download music, movies, or take much video on my phone. I've had a G2 for almost 2 years now. It has less than 2GB internal & an 8GB card & I don't even have half of that total memory used up. That's with over 60 apps. Just because you need a substantial amount of memory, doesn't mean everyone does. It makes more sense to just speak for yourself.

What are you talking about? The point I was making was simply that just because people like you need more than 8GB, doesn't mean everyone else does. I'm for options. Different options for everyone. Even though I don't need it, I would never say 32+GB phones be should be banned. If there's a market for it, then it should exist. That is all.

The problem is, that may not leave much space, at all. Do you know why Surface RT starts at 32GB? It starts there because 16GB would leave less than 5GB of space not occupied by the OS (11+GB). I imagine that WP8 will be a LITTLE slimmer than 33+%, but not by much.

So will you buy a new phone when your 4GB/8GB model without an SD card gets over, and all of the data stores cannot be deleted? Cloud storage is not for everyone and it just sucks.

My phone does have an MSD slot & I don't think I'd buy one that doesn't. I plan on purchasing the Galaxy Note 2 when it comes out. My point was simply that for some people, it may not be an issue.

agreed, the basic standard for phone memory should be 16gb

The 8 GB variant is going to crash and burn with reviewers if it doesn't get expandable storage.
