cdma isn't 3G. cdma networks like verizon use different signals for 3G like verizons EV whatever its called, and I don't know what sprint uses but you can make video calls over it

EVDO rev A, is what a CDMA network uses for 3g data. Verizon and Sprint use the same tech. Tmo and ATT use the same tech (GSM) data and cell signals are not the same. they are seperate. Which app was he using to make the call? And are you sure he wasnt tricking you by being on WiFi? My understanding is that it wouldnt work on a 3g signal, only wimax or wifi. Have they changed that?

he was not connected to wi-fi he was using fring we were in the car so no wi-fi here , he had 3 bars of 3G

hey i also have an evo i live in los angeles so no sprint 4G over here >=/ and video calls work perfect over 3G ,thats why i like sprint cuz u can make video calls over 3G without havin to be connected on wifi

Sprint uses EVDO rev A as their 3G, for data, when the Evo makes a VOICE call it switches to 1x RTT for the voice, if you're making a video call, it does it all over the data network, kinda like a webcam chat on your computer, they simply reccomend you use 4G because it gives you a better connection.
