HTC One selling well, but not as well as the Samsung Galaxy S4
0. phoneArena 05 May 2013, 01:55 posted on
A survey of 20 AT&T and Sprint stores in Los Angeles reveals that the HTC One is selling well, but not as well as the Samsung Galaxy S4; despite a nearly two week head start for HTC's new Android flagship model, the Samsung Galaxy S4 has out sold its aluminum clad rival and has been returned fewer times than the HTC One has...

Lol. Did anyone actually think the htc one would out sell the s4? I know I sure didn't.

It's not selling as well, but I feel it's actually the better performing device. I think HTC released the more complete product this time, however the s4 has galaxy brand recognition and will simply smoke the One in sales. Sales vs returns will ultimately decide which one the consumers were most satisfied with though.

Htc have to many devices launching a year, it's very hard to keep up with Htc®
They should concentrate on the One series, and not produce to many highend devices!

That's also a problem for HTC. they need to simplify their brand

Samsung spends more money on marketing than HTC has in revenues. It is like comparing China's overall power against Taiwan's. They are completely different in scale. HTC does not have the marketing budget, production capacity or carrier offering to stand a chance. Do you really believe HTC is stupid enough to make One carrier exclusive? It is more like when Apple started iPhone, it simply could not make enough devices or get through enough contracts to offer it on all four major carriers.
HTC DOES NOT need One to outsell S4 to make a comeback, all it has to do is carve out a niche for itself to differentiate from all other Android producers which it certainly did with One. I would buy HTC stock over Samsung's today as it has been beaten to death and One will give it a nice rebound. It is actually a great differentiating strategy. Had HTC made a carbon copy phone just like S4, it would lose to Samsung badly as HTC's cost of production is much higher.
While Samsung has peaked and has nowhere to go but down. If you notice last year they announced pre-order numbers and play-by-play sales numbers for S3, this year it has been silent about S4. I am not saying they will sell less S4's than S3's but like Apple, when you have majority of a markets' revenue that no longer grow much on the high end, the curve flattens and Samsung stock is about to take a hit.

HAHAHA I told you HTC, you have a non removable battery, no removable SD card which are huuuuge mistakes. You aren't going to compete with the best smart phone out there now the Samsung Galaxy S4 :D and I told you so!!

The only reason here I think why S4 sold more is because of marketing. Something that Samsung is good at, HTC and the others aren't that good with marketing. If HTC makes more ads, ads that attack Apple or maybe Samsung, they might sell more.

I am happy that htc made a great device and even greater than s4 for some reasons, and s4 is also better than htc one for some reasons.. if d rumor is true_even samsung itself said that s4 isnt d best device in a lab test.. if thats true huh..
Why im happy? Coz samsung is given a chance to do better w/ note3 haha my future :)

You guys sound like a bunch of kindergarteners arguing over a toy. They are both great phones it just depends on what the person is looking for in a phone. Some people don't like Samsung some peeps don't like htc each to there own.

Htc's problem that they can't see how the market will react to their products so they alway have production problem, they had a golden chance to kill it month before the announcement of gs4 which is an awesome btw, but they miss that chance with their delay.

Typical HTC build quality issues and problems. And people wonder why HTC doesn't well. Mine has capacitive buttons that go dead for 20 seconds and no update in sight for the Rogers version. Plus it has gaps.
Once my GS4 comes, this thing is going on Craigslist list.

I wish people that say they own a phone that they obviously don't own from previous comments would be banned from the site. People read the comments looking for feedback and when known Samsung/Apple/HTC/WP haters make up false claims it does nothing to help the community.

What about the issues the S4 has had with overheating and screen blurring issues that were posted in articles on this very website. No phone is PERFECT, nothing is perfect, everything from phones to tvs to computers will have issues sometimes. Everyone has a preference and should pick what they like best and ppl should respect that. Like chazking99 said, ppl on here sound like a bunch of kindergarteners with their arguing. Who cares if someone buys a phone you dont like, its their money, get over it and that goes for the fanboys of both sides.

I finally got a chance to play with a GS4 and the user experience is light years ahead of the One. Everything from toggles, to waking the phone up, to using the home button, to ergonomics in the hand, to weight etc. It is just nicer to use unlike the backwards set up that the One employs.
226. rizevnarastek (Posts: 338; Member since: 06 Sep 2012)
The One feels better in-hand. It's faster whilst operating. Toggles you can add from third party that are better than TW's.... LOL @Taters.
241. amro99 (Posts: 96; Member since: 29 Nov 2012)
Light years ahead? You cant use this term even when comparing s4 to Nokia 3310, cause the better build quality will still go to 3310, let alone a phone that is considered better by majority of experts!

Well good thing I never rush out too buy the HTC ONE or the GS IV. this shows u people need too learn too wait a few months before buying a phone just because its new u think u must be the first one too get it first

Well this is to be expected. HTC made a very good phone but they are weak at Marketing. More People need to know about the HTC One. Only a minority (like us) knows about the HTC One.
Having said that, the Galaxy S4 isn't a bad phone at all. It's their good software + marketing that makes the S4 sell very well.
HTC has revamped sense into a very slimed down Android Skin. I like where HTC is going, but HTC isn't strong or big enough to sell like Samsung yet.
227. rizevnarastek (Posts: 338; Member since: 06 Sep 2012)
I'll never "trust" a company with my money when they make "everything" like Samsung does. HTC makes phones, period. They are the expert. They devote their money, time and lives to the product.

7 days in a week, 27-19 = 8 days which equals nearly 2 weeks (14 days)? That is some impressive math you all are doing...

sick of hearing "fanboy" need fangirls now !!! oh yeash !!!! shake it. you pathetic morons fighting over smartphone.
239. amro99 (Posts: 96; Member since: 29 Nov 2012)
No common sense can expect htc one to sell better than the successor of s3 (i.e. s4), no matter how much it is better. It will definitely take more than one product to take market share from samsung. And this is the case with every type of market... For instance no matter what honda manufactures can not defeat toyota in one year, even though vehicle buyers are much more mature and informed than smartphone buyers!

When you see a comment section about 2 Android phones get more fighting and fanboys than an Android vs iPhone article......you KNOW Android has arrived....lol.
All I will say is they both have pros n cons. Every phone that has ever been created has pros and cons. No phone is perfect...and many times issues are blown out of proportion by posters, users online.
I dont really like Samsung phones....but I give them credit for what they do good. Same for HTC phones. Same for the iPhone.

I really don't care if people choose the One or the S4. They are both Android and both companies are pushing the advancement of Android further and faster than I could have hoped. Android FTW.
