HTC One S for T-Mobile gets update to Android 4.04 and HTC Sense 4.1

0. phoneArena posted on 26 Sep 2012, 16:09

A new update for the HTC One S on T-Mobile takes the phone to Android 4.0.4 from 4.0.3 and at the same time takes the device from HTC Sense from 4.0 to HTC Sense 4.1; this appears to be the same update recently pushed through in Europe...

"prevents streaming music from streaming" i think that would be breaking something not fixing it...you prolly meant skipping

i like that fact you can change the recent app button into the menu button and get rid of the menu bar at the bottom of most apps. gives up more visible screen to work with. also there's no quick settings like most articles are claiming, unless they mean the "settings" button on the top right corner which has been there. the phone itself seems a bit more responsive to me or maybe it's just me.

Why HTCs on T-Mobile get updates so fast?
It took so long for some HTCs on Verizon to update relatively.

what i keep hearing HTC saying is that the "One" line is going to get quick updates. but i remember having other HTC devices and wondering if they forgot about my phone all together. it'd be nice if they stood behind all their handsets the way they are with the "One" line of phones.

Yes, let's make HTC stand behind all 30-40 devices, because it's totally worth it to still be making updates to the last version of Android when the next version releases, so that way the newest phones get updates half a year later after the new version launches.

I would expect HTC to only support the Sensation, Rezound, Vivid, and Evo 3D. Everything else should have support dropped, the people that want to keep up will be able to get ported roms from XDA.

Okay, more like 12-15, but come on, do you really want to force HTC to support devices that few people bought when they should be focusing on flagships?

The Sensation and Sensation XE are obvious, the XL might be okay but should probably also get dropped soon. The Rezound was the Verizon flagship, the Vivid the AT&T flagship, and the Evo 3D the Sprint flagship. That's already at least 4 devices that need to be supported. Put it at about 2 months per phone, and you're already up at 8 months of backlog.

HTC should be only updating devices that don't take much time to. The Sensation is an obvious target, and all the devices listed are just minor variations that shouldn't take nearly as much time.

Easy enough to update. The menu/recent apps button feature is nice. I use apex anyway, certainly still waiting for jellybean but this definitely helps the wait

I got another update on my EVO 4G LTE, it was supposed to fix contacts ringtone assignment!!!!

8. lsutigers posted on 26 Sep 2012, 20:37

Which update are you referring to and when did you get it? I just checked my EVO 4G LTE and there are no new updates available. Are you talking about the update to 4.0.4 and Sense 4.1 mentioned in this article but for the EVO? It was released over a month ago.

mmm, no updates available for my Tmo One S. I'm running 4.0.3 and the software version is one of the 2 mentioned in the article.
Any idea?

Not rolled out for your IMEI yet. You can try forcing update checkin but no real guarantees.

I just updated today and I already noticed a bug. When I'm reading an article here on phonearena the notification bar keeps appearing and disappearing forever or until I leave the web.
