HTC has an awful lot to gain! HTC 2 won't be enough. HTC 22>>>> maybe!

It'll make 'Sense' if they just stop investing more resources for developing Sense UI. They can ignore all that and just stick to stock android with some very basic customized additions.

Unlike Samsung, HTC and Sony who heavily skin and customize the Android, plain vanilla android remains smooth and fast even after much time.

My 512MB 4.1JB vanilla android device hasn't slowed down a bit since nearly an year, even after heavy use. While I've seen very bad experiences my friends having with their 'Global Branded' phones.

The Xperia Launcher of my wife's SE Arc S is pretty close to the stock experience and performance. I'll go as far as say that it's the least skinned OEM launcher, latest MotoBlur comes close to 2nd.

Just saying give credits to Sony.

first of all there is no way any major OEM will drop their skin, as much as you and i want them to. this is what makes them stand out among the competition. they might just offer stock android as an alternative like the Google Play edition devices, but that's just about it.

my second point is, Sense is not that bad as you are thinking. if i have to choose between android skins, Sense would be it. it has gotten fast, if not faster than Touchwiz, feature-rich and actually looks much much better than Touchwiz.

Haha even TouchWiz is laggy and slow. All the anti-android people keep bashing Android, what is the reason do you think? In most cases it's the Skinning which causes such performance drop.

Well it's much less evident in latest phones with monster specs, but you can see this clearly among Mid Rangers. There is a huge group who can afford/prefer mid-rangers.

And btw what I was saying was especially for HTC, because already they are in heavy loss. Nexus-kind of devices will surely improve their sells and reduce operating costs, since they'll have to invest less in teams who prepare software updates for their phones.

you are repeating what i have just said. yes, Android skins don't perform as good as stock Android, but OEMs need new features to market the phone with, or to make them stand out. if they didn't, they will risk even more loss.

HTC outperformed Samsung this year because they have managed to focus more on the end user-experience than just cramping gimmicky features and marketing the hell out of them. that's why i believe HTC will do good next year too, presuming they take the same path.

But that is Touchwiz that is laggy and slow, as an One owner Sense 5/5.5 feels and looks miles better than stock Android and is as fast. Besides what would differentiate manufacturers if they all went vanilla?

I dont agree. While stock Adroid does run smooth and fast, companies need something to differentate thier products from the competition. My favorite custom UI is HTC Sense. Its clear, clean and most of all beautiful to look through. I dont find it stale (Touch Wiz) or Basic (Stock android) and they're use of a minimalisti style UI adds more 'Eye Candy.' Even the icons look better 'flat.'

And besides, HTC have revamped Sense 5 + to be more "out of the way" , light weight, implimentation,going to show that they are listen to consumers

The only big thing that happened to HTC (after their downward Spiral) is the HTC One Max - and that is big only in screen and dimensions.

HTC all it needs to focus on is camera, battery and sd storage since most consumers want that extra ballooni. The rest is already perfected, and this time work on the quality control, like I mean the HTC ONE would have sold way more then now if it wasn't for the manufacturing issues. Please HTC dont disappoint your fans.

my guess is that it will be a 4.7 to 5 inch screen, with less bezel, 3000mAh battery, the latest Snapdragon, 3GB of memory, 8 ultrapixel camera, IR blaster and even better BoomSound speakers.... oh and some new fancy metal build. It'll be the phone that makes me want to upgrade from my current HTC One.

Good luck to HTC. I don't know what more they can do to get the attention they need. It's too late to offer something truly new for the holiday season, and their attempts to beat Samsung to the market with the One last spring fell apart.

The One was a killer product...until the S4 arrived a month later and the market all but forgot the One. Despite the fancy design and great speakers and screen, I have yet to see one in the wild. My friends and I who owned buggy older HTCs wouldn't give HTC the benefit of the doubt this year.

competition has been groving since last year and evey single manufacturer have to create something innovative and unique feature and features. I didnt like nokia lumia series but know lumia phones are getting better and better. HTC releases good looking phones but they somehow didnt manage to sell well.Maybe next year will be decisive year for HTC.

Hope that make it at least 5-5.2, with 3,000 mAH battery. If they do this and increase the camera I will replace my One X with the new One.

they should skip that awful plastic side of the one mini and one max..keep the design of the one and add a 8-9 ultrapixel camera and a larger battery..that would be a winner

Phones are becomin' so OP nowadays, just 2 years ago 1.2GHz processor was beast now we're at 2.3GHz, it's madness, the phone industry is basically Dragon Ball Z

Goku = Samsung
Vegeta = Apple
Gohan = Sony
Picillo = HTC
Krillin = Nokia
Yamcha = Blackberry
Bulma = US Patent Office

Ok so if HTC wants my money, I'd like to see this spec on The M8:

- Android 4.4, Running under Sense 6.0 (Love the Minimalistic style)
- 5-5.5 inch screen (The ONE MAX is TOOO BIGGG and I haven't played with it yet)
- An Octa-Core proessor @ 2.2 Ghz (Possibly the '8' in M8) MediaTeck
- 4 GB of RAM (Or 3) (since the S5 is expected to have 4 upon Release)
- Beefed up Ultra Pixel camera, Perhaps 8 upped from 4
- Retain some of the ONE elements like the Beats audio, BoomSound and the Aluminum UniBody construction
- SUPPORT FOR SD CARD!
- Wifi AC, Bluetooth 4.0 Advance, RF Blaster, NFC Etc..

- HTC ONE watch combo?
