With the blink of an eye, literally, the HTC Jetstream is making its touchdown landing with AT&T starting today for the 2-year on-contract price of $699.99 – well, it’s $849.99 if you want to pick it up without being tethered to any agreement...

$700? What a joke, actually all tablets are.

didnt they learn from the moto xoom?!? people arent going to pay 700 bux ON CONTRACT to have "eventual" sparse LTE coverage. People dont care that much. Good lord. And it packs a measily snapdragon in for that price? Fail HTC.. huuuuuuuuuge fail.

ITS NOT A F'IN SNAPDRAGON, ITS AN S3!!!!! SNAPDRAGON IS S1!!!
10. remixfa posted on 04 Sep 2011, 19:28 1 1
its a DUAL CORE SNAPDRAGON which is ALSO called the S3. It is A CRAP BASE MODEL DUAL CORE CHIP. Since we are talking HIGH END devices and Honeycomb, only a moron would assume that we are talking about a single core S1 Snapdragon and not the dual core S3 snapdragon.
any questions?

I bet you never use an S3 chip device so please STFU already about how bad the chip only basing it on benchmark scores, because you will not be able to tell the different, if you say you can, you are a liar and a dumb fanboy.

since i sell phones, i see the differences in the chips EVERY DAY. If you like snapdragon, good for you. Not all of us like walmart quality.

At least this chip is put on well built materials unlike the s**t plastic in your beloved galaxy s ll. Ever used a sensation or EVO 3D after the update to 2.3.4 its as smooth as the galaxy s ll. The A9 chip wasn't a massive step forward In anything and A8 chips are still relevant.

i prefer plastic. its light weight. And i use a CASE on every phone so it doesnt really matter what the phone is made of.. does it? im glad that you think somehow 2 cents worth of tin is worth more than 2 cents worth of plastic.. lol.

People are dumb in personal opinion. When you compare the Ipad2 with other tablets that have the same memory, etc... they are about the same price. The new Jetstream with 32 meg memory and lte when it come out in your area is 700 dollars. Ipad2 3g with 32 meg memory cost 729 dollars. Only difference is Ipad has more tablet based applications.

With iPad, you also get iOS and that is something you can't anywhere else. Consumers have voted with their wallets and they want iOS.
11. remixfa posted on 04 Sep 2011, 19:29 1 1
is that why android is dominating iOS by over 2 to 1 margin now in worldwide sales?
17. ardent1 posted on 04 Sep 2011, 23:35 2 1
I don't recall android dominating iOS in the US for tablets by a 2 to 1 margin? What see and read on a constant basis is how android tablets fail to meet or beat the ipad and as a result, android OEMs are discounting their tablets.
24. remixfa posted on 05 Sep 2011, 10:31 1 1
ipad had a 1 year jump on android. honeycomb didnt come out until what.. febuary? Android already is making huge leaps in the tablet market. Within 2 years android will cannibalize iOS in tablets just like it has in phones.

Okay. remixfa so you got caught with your foot in your mouth. If you say the wrong things, don't get upset if I point them out.
For the record, android OEMs are cutting prices to move their tablets in the US. Acer had to cut their 10" tablet to $300 and were selling their brand new 7" tablet at a $50 discount a la Walmart, respectively.
Therefore android is NOT outselling iOS for tablets in the US. remixfa, that was a really stupid comment on your part.

@goingpostal4365 What you seem to miss is that the iPad cost that much with no contract. They are asking you to pay $700 under contract or $849 outright. RIDICULOUS! And what you list as the only difference (apps) is a major defining factor for many in the purchase of a tablet.
5. IEatApples posted on 04 Sep 2011, 16:22 0 0
so other then lte this thing has the same processor and ram as a 100$ touchpad? And only 600$ more on contract huh? What a deal att. I bet everybody will be ditching their ipads to get a piece of this ridiculous deal.
6. iblackdroid posted on 04 Sep 2011, 16:27 0 0
I honestly never liked AT&T... and this just made me think theyre even stupider... cant they use verizons mistake to their advantage and learn from it? Idiots....
9. Sniggly posted on 04 Sep 2011, 17:43 0 0
Well, depending on its internal memory, that's not a horrible price. The 3g iPad2 with 32gb memory is near the same price range.
12. remixfa posted on 04 Sep 2011, 19:30 1 2
correct, but the ipad2 has iDiot hype and brand recognition behind it so it can sell at that price range. HTC and snapdragon do not.

Whats the crap over Ipad...its an oversized Ipod that you have to buy every single accessory for for things like HDMI. You cant add storage(beyond cloud stuff and until everybody has 4g speeds at home too you wont hardly use it for other then music already in the cloud. I was going to upload to box.net the other day and it owuld have taken days just to upload some gigs of pictures on 3.0dsl ..upload is like 512k. so i dont see cloud as "extra storage" counting much yet.) You have to live with icon only UI. You have to live with their version of a phone only(still 3.5 inches!). They did great with the first iphone and ipad to start the industry, however now they are not moving fast enough and ppl who will buy the new iphone5 are crazy. It wont do anything better then the iPhone4 because it doesn't need to. it will cost more then other phones with better hardware and features, and you have to like it their way or sit on it. I just don't like the way they treat customers. Most ppl like them because they are not smart enough to know better. Oh well. This is wayyy too much. For HTC to get into the market they need to lowball apple to get ppl willing to try it. Hp showed its possible.

BTW I wont argue that apple products are good. they are. I just dont like how they treat them. Their true colors are starting to show by forcing magazines and papers to give apple part of their subscription renewals or get out(30% actually). Apple may have all the apps that has built it up...but its the apps that built it up. And if you start getting greedy the HTML5 they so happily promoted is going to be their fall if they are not careful. jUst like what amazon and FT have done. That is why i dont like apple. They are greedy and they show it. At least Google offers a lot for less. ICS is going to make a huge change in things i think.
