HTC Inspire 4G gets update; no, not Android 4.0 but HTC Sense 3.0

0. phoneArena posted on 31 Jul 2012, 21:59

So the HTC Inspire 4G isn't getting Android 4.0, that doesn't mean that it won't be getting any updates at all; AT&T customers with the phone will be happy to hear that the device will be receiving Sense 3.0 with the latest software version...

I guess HTC figured out a way to get it working on this phone. All we have to do is get the OTA, install it and test it out, and see for ourselves.

Still kinda wondering why this won't get ICS and the Thunerbolt does as both have very similar, if not the same, specs.

Different carrier.

Probably because the Thunderbolt has 8GB of internal storage and the Inspire 4G has 4GB of internal storage. The update files for ICS are fairly large.

it's simple the Inspire is crap! I get calls on that phone everyday..

HTC said that we would need a lot more internal storage to have the ICS update to become a reality, which will most likely include all of us having to repartition the storage, and making more room just for the update. That will in turn, be possible for the more advanced techsavvy people, but there are also not-so-techsavvy Inspire owners and that's what enabled the decision of dropping the ICS update for the Inspire. I hate the Inspire for not having a front-facing camera, having a single-core proccesor, with 768MB of RAM, and only 4GB of internal storage, where we have access to only 1+GB...

if it will improve this phone until i can get another then thats fine. this phone has been a disappointment over the last few months.

has been a disappointment to me ever since I heard of the rumored "Holiday" back then, now known as the Vivid. I'm more aware of what to expect in terms of specs in a smartphone now. The Inspire to me is truly an entrance to the world of smartphones. Had my fairshare of both great and bad times, but overall, the phone isn't something I can say great things about. I do love the exterior design for the most part, except for the jutting out camera... Also the speaker isn't that great, but something I wasn't expecting a lot of. Hopefully HTC can make better phones than the One Series. I want another Android with the designs and specs of SONY, Samsung, and HTC for the most part. A microSD slot, a RAZR MAXX like large capacity battery, at least 2GB of RAM, and a dual-core processor. Also the screen should be rather easily viewable under direct sunlight. Just my thoughts and desires on my next true smartphone =P

Can't wait for the OTA!!! I don't want to the latter of manually updating the phone right now, since HTC Sync is not allowing me to sync the data. I'm getting the "unknown error occured! (1000 or 1003)" message, not being able to sync the data from the PIM... Unless I can either fix this myself or someone can kindly help me fix the problem, I'm just going to have to wait for the OTA. In all, I'm really happy to find out that we, Inspire users are going to get another update. I've been wanting Sense 3.0, but been worried that it'll be a laggy performance on the Inspire with only 768MB of RAM and a single core processor.

Hi All,

I purchased a UNLOCKED HTC Inspire from Amazon, how to upgrade its O/S to Ginger Bread without AT&T card. I am not using AT&T SIM card.

Thanks in Advance
