HTC HD2 beats out iPhone 3GS and Acer neo Touch S200 in battle of the browsers
As if there weren't enough reasons to drool and go bonkers whenever you see the HTC HD2, a video from Solopalmari shows a battle of the browsers between the Opera Mobile 9.7 viewed on the 4.3 inch display of the super spec'd Windows Mobile device, Mobile Safari running on the iPhone 3GS and Internet Explorer Mobile on the Acer neoTouch S200. As the video shows, the winner was the Opera Mobile using its' server side compression to beat out Safari and IE. The rest of the video shows off the zippy acclerometer on the HD2, courtesy of the Snapdragon 1GHz processor. Finishing second in the screen orientation test was the Acer with the iPhone finishing last. Two contests, two Gold medals for the HD2.

Great phone. Outdated OS.

Windows Mobile 6.5 isn't outdated since it officially came out less than 2 months ago.

Make no mistake about it. It was outdated before it was released.

Have to agree biggles....I love winmo, but don't see any significant improvements from 6.1 to 6.5...

People might slag off the operating system but i've seen videos and it runs smoothly enough. The interface has also been completely redesigned by HTC.

OS sucks, but man the hardware is insane. I'll seriously be considering this when it hits stateside.

it will be upgradeable to WM7 according to numerous sources... and wm7 is supposed (emphasis on supposed) to be waaaay diff than all the previous WM builds... we'll see though.

I just ran this test on my neotouch using explorer over att 3g. It was just as fast as the iphone 3gs. So, I don't know what stock you want to put in this demonstration. Perhaps the HD2 is slightly faster... hard to say. I also ran it in wifi and it beat the iphone 3gs and just slightly later than the HD2. I followed the video and the result is clear, the test is erroneous or at least the results will vary. I can easily imagine that neotouch will beat hd2 in some sites and not in others. Remember, IE has flashlite built into it while opera does not. Therefore, the IE browser will have more elements to render. Generally, i'm pretty happy with the browsing speed. I also enjoy watching family guy on justin tv in my skyfire browser. So, for the lower price of neotouch compared to HD2, I think neotouch is well worth it. HD2 is a very nice phone, but i'm not going to drop 600 bucks on it.
