HTC EVO 4G updated with Swype and other goodies
Share:
There are a few more improvements, like the latest Sprint TV app and Sprint Zone update, as well as the Visual Voicemail and Kindle eReader applications. This update also provides you with an unremovable trial version of Gameloft's NOVA, not unlike what the DROID X owners received with EA's Madden NFL demo a few days ago. For the update, check your HTC EVO 4G's settings and if it's not there, it should be soon.
A full list of all the enhancements/fixes you receive with update version 3.70.651.1:
Enhancements/Fixes:
-Blockbuster (including WM DRM 10)
-Kindle eReader
-Preloaded try/buy video game: NOVA from Gameloft
-Sprint Zone update
-Latest Telenav
-Latest Visual Voicemail Application
-Latest Sprint TV application
-SWYPE keyboard
-Scan Now Widget for 4G

they push updates out in bunches. so within the next day or so you will get it. they do that so that not everyone crashes servers and updates at once.

Can someobdy pleaseeeeee explain to me how to make swype my default keyboard?

@EVo userrr: Go to Settings > Language & keyboard and make sure "Swype" is checked on/selected. Then open a new or existing text message where the native Android keyboard is displayed. In the text body/composition area tap & hold until the 'Message options' window appears and select "Input Method". There you should have the option to select either "Touch input" or "Swype" as your input method.
Also, every once in a great while Swype won't work (swype input doesn't translate to text). If/when that happens...repeat the steps I just gave you to switch to Touch Input then BACK to Swype. This has always fixed the problem for me.
Hope this helps! :^{D>

I got the update for Swype thinking it would be better. I dislike Swype, I dislike the new 4G Widget that actually is more annoying then anything. At least the old one would stay on and reconnect itself, this one doesnt.
I HATE I cant remove the apps they installed, Kindle, BlockBuster or NOVA game.
What the hell do I do?

Anyone else having noticeable lag issues, wifi problems, and poorer battery life after this update?

Don't install this update. I don't know if it's that stupid game that I don't want (thanks, now I can't let my kids play games that I DID want and downloaded) or Blockbuster's POS app, but something keeps turning on maps, gmail, and about a half dozen other apps. My GPS was even turned on somehow. Battery life now stinks, and oh by the way, these apps have the ability to do just about anything.
I had been a big fan of my EVO, and have even sold friends and coworkers on it (I'm in IT, so they tend to listen). Not anymore, if Sprint's going to pull this kind of garbage. I'll start recommending the iPhone on Verizon. I'd have no problem with these apps if I could uninstall them.
