The HTC EVO 3D, as its name blatantly implies, will focus most of the attention on its various 3D aspects. Although there was no mention in regards to a release date or pricing, it’s ...

just wish it looked a little hotter... not a fan of the black plastic... it wudnt be that hard for them to make it look like the hd7 wud it? Htc also needs to make their sense ui 3d. otherwise nobody will really care if it only does 3d video... it wud be cool if the whole os was 3d. also, i guess they learned that transitions do matter.. ie wp7...

I have studied both and to be honest they are pretty close. Both have their own pros and cons, however when I upgrade, it will be the LG that I will be getting.
Optimus 3D = WIN

What is it exactly about the lg optimus 3d that blows the Evo out of the water? Is it the display resolution at 540X960? Oh wait, that's the Evo. Is it the 1.2 Ghz dualcore processor? Oh wait again, that's the Evo. Is it the 1 GB of RAM? Oh no.......Evo again! Perhaps its the Andriod OS v2.3? No again, that's the Evo too! Hmmmm.....what was it about the LG Optimus you were refering to?

I am sorry, Apple's iphone 5 looks like just old news compared to the EVO 3D. What is best about the phone is that you can turn on or turn off the 3D at anytime. This is a great thing because I will not want it on all the time. I love the fact that I can turn it on & off at will. HTC is showing the world that there is another "high end phone" maker who cares about it's customers first, not the apps it can sell! (Apple) Good for Sprint, HTC & Sprint's customers. We all win!!

I know it sounds a bit picky, but I use the kickstand a lot on my Evo. I don't see one on this version. I would actually miss it.
This is another great offering though.

theres rumors of the evo 3D having a case that has a kickstand on it, thought i would pass the word on...

Strange... the Snapdragon proc in EVO 3D is supposed to be the fabulous MSM8660 with the addition of an extra WiMax chip I suppose for the WiMax not directly handled by this chip, but this Qualcom Proc handles all other WW Mobile bands as well as providing 2 x 1.2Ghz Cores and improved Graphics, including Europe GSM/UMTS/HSPA+ as well as US CDMA/EVO/HSPA+ in most popular frequency bands used on both sides. Means this should be marketted as a real "WORLD-PHONE" this time, compared to former EVO 4G that was 100% US-Centric with WiMax + CDMA/EVO only (Not travel possible outside the US). Why is this NOT marketed here, anywhere ? Are these Qualcom features unused or blocked in this EVO 3G ? Who knows ? Would be really sad that you can't travel arround the globe with that golden Smartphone, while it has everything inside except LTE.
Also I need to confirm if definatly no-Kick-Stand on EVO 3D (Only bad news for me so far. Little hope left that red circle on the back could be one...?).

oh ya... just wondering but wont this phone be behind becuase of its lte lack... isnt sprint going to lte?
23. phife56 posted on 23 Mar 2011, 08:32 0
no they are thinking about it in some sections of the country that dont get wimax
33. elandrumiii posted on 24 Mar 2011, 22:34 0
There is some speculation with the way Hesse is talking that they may use clear for WiMAX and they may put up LTE with the rest of their spectrum. Dont know how but you never know with them.

I know what you mean. The EVO 3D should always have a kickstand. Hopefully they change that on the final release. EVO=Kickstand, naturaly EVO 3D should=kickstand also right? Why would the Thunderbolt get a kickstand & not the EVO 3D? I will miss it too. Let's keep our fingers crossed & hope HTC does the right thing!
36. Phonecall01 posted on 26 Mar 2011, 00:17 1
According to a review I just read. The reason for not having a kickstand is lack of room. The dual camera module takes over the whole upper side of the back and the lower side got used for the 1730mAh battery (bigger than EVO 4G). I'll miss it too, but I'll take the extra muscle instead.
7. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 22 Mar 2011, 16:14 2
Sorry but that's probably the final product, despite how they say it's just a test model. That usually only has to do with the software of the phone. But from what the photos shows, that is what the EVO 3D will be. Sorry no kick stand =(

No just a better way of doing it. Just like all the BB and Apple fans say each time a new model comes out.

Any parallax barrier experts out there? Will the EVO 3D display 960x540 in 2D mode, or only half of that resolution?
I'm guessing no... and that when you turn off 3D and turn on 2D, it is really just displaying the same image to both eyes, and so the 2D resolution is only half of the 960x540. However, I read that it will display 3D in both portrait and landscape mode, so is it possible that functionality of the parallax barrier is flexible enough that it can be turned off completely, and you actually can see 960x540 in 2D mode?

By the way I heard from one of the videos that they will release a case with kickstands so we should have it anyways...I can't wait for this ph to come out
13. J (unregistered) posted on 22 Mar 2011, 18:41 0
There is likely no kickstand due to the fact that the 1750 MAH battery will take up all the space within the phone under the duel 5MP cameras. There's likely not enough space for a kickstand with the 3d Technology

Great job by Htc and Sprint....Haters can back off cause this is the best device in the industry period. Now the granddaddy of 4g the current Htc Evo 4g can now retire and fall into the background it held us down for 10months and now a new member to the family will take over and lead android and sprint/htc into 2011 and 2012. Current Htc Evo 4g owners should be proud and should be on line for this guy just as they were for the Htc Evo 4g...It's a great time for sprint in 2011 our line is tops in the industry.

FINALLY! The ultimate replacement for my Hero. Most important to me is the 4.3" 960X540 display and the dual core CPU w/graphics acceleration. My poor eyes will welcome the bigger sharper screen, while the CPU & Android 2.3 will open apps and navigate much quicker. The Photo & Video capability is just icing on the cake.

battery life is going to be key
48. leefer77 posted on 28 Mar 2011, 16:34 0
I would guess that battery life will be better than the original EVO. The battery is bigger plus the processor is dual core, which from what I've read is more efficient. If it gets a good 12 hours of moderate use per charge, I will be happy. I have to sleep a little bit anyway.

Here's a question to those who know what there talking about:
should i get this or the galaxy s2? it seems to me that they are both just as powerful but
this has the addition of 3d, so its better. I dont particularly care for 3d too much but if they are both the same in terms of power the 3d is a just an added bonus, so why not?
46. leefer77 posted on 27 Mar 2011, 22:51 0
Possible consideration... I personally like HTC's Sense UI. I have a rooted EVO and have used quite a few ROMs both with and without Sense. I find that I always go back to a Sense based ROM. Not that those without it aren't good. Its just a matter of preference.
47. phbelov posted on 28 Mar 2011, 02:50 0
This phone is great. But, does anyone know about the european version of EVO 3D? I have this question because in previous year there was a similar situation to the EVO 4G, later there was Desire HD(european version of EVO 4G, supports GSM).
52. BDW2008 posted on 30 Mar 2011, 22:13 0
This is a great phone hands down htc is known for making these stellar android phones and this is no exception if you one of the people that's not impressed by this device you must he upset that you'll probably not be able to get it I'm an iPhone 4 owner and my iPhone is no slouch it's a pretty damn good phone but the service is way too expensive I've been looking to switch to sprint for the cheaper prices and this phone just sealed the deal if the iPhone doesn't open up with some customization, flash, and bigger screen and AT&T doesn't stop being so damn expensive i know I won't be the only person making the jump to a cheaper carrier also I could care less about the acquisition of tmobile that does nothing for me I'm still going to be paying the same $130-$140 a month to these people all in all keep up the good work htc.
