Once considered Verizon's strongest smartphone, the HTC Droid Incredible launched to strong demand and that plus a shortage in AMOLED screens led to the phone being on back order since day one; earlier Verizon documents point to a 3/31 EOL date for the phone...

The Droid Incredible is already showing up as Retired in the VZW Equipment Guide.

About damn time! Many retailers have essentially been giving these away for the past 6 months. Some (like Dell) were even offering to pay you (through rebates) to clear out the inventory. Apparently someone in marketing and sales expected demand to stay considerably higher for a longer duration than what actually occurred. Not that the Incredible is not a slick phone, but with other phones that have been introduced in the past 6 months and the launch of LTE, the phone no longer has any edge.

Just kinda brings to light one more time how short of a shelf life "premium" phones have. This time next year, these phones we are excited about and are ready to pounce on will seem so tame. The owners of the Evo on Sprint are already getting excited about an Evo 2, and it was released in November. 2 year agreements for these phones seem way unrealistic, despite the initial loss carriers take on the devices.

Actually, the EVO was released in June, but your point is well taken.

Its still better than some of the crap that has come out in recent months. If you are going to pay for the premium data plan, get a good phone! At this point, with LTE far away for many, getting a quality 3G phone now while Verizon irons out the 4G bugs is a smart idea.

can't take an opinion that's not your own?

Well, it would be preferable if people justified their opinion instead of just saying "this phone sucks" and running away, but you can't have everything.
