HTC Droid DNA comes unlocked for use with any SIM card

With the Droid DNA, it seems, you can pop in any SIM card, enter the network settings, and use it freely outside of Big Red's zone of influence. The phone doesn't support T-Mobile's 1700 MHz band, so you won't be getting high download speeds there, but for AT&T and Europe/Asia frequencies you are golden. Verizon might still lock it with an update, but so far so good...

HOW do you know? This phone has a weak ass battery @ 2020 mAh.. The Note 2 has a 3100 mAh battery.
The DNA will be DOA within 6 months. Nice specs but no way to upgrade battery. No sim card slot, etc.
What they didn't mention is that you WONT get LTE on ATT if you use it there. You might just get 2g/3g

Even it gets locked with an update can we install a Custom Rom and we are ready to go for any Sim ?

I doubt you will have to worry about VZW locking the phone at a later date. VZW had to agree to unlock their LTE phones as part of a deal with the FCC for more LTE spectrum. VZW values LTE spectrum more than locked phones.

I am telling you this phone is looking more & more pleasing as I read up on it. To have this phone unlocked is going to be so insane. True WORLD PHONE.
Also I am reading that the phone comes S-OFF meaning that all you need to do is unlock its bootloader & you can install custom ROMs with root.
That means you can remove the resource hungry HTC Sense & add an Android 4.2 AOSP ROM with an incredible Kernel & get 1 to 2 more GBs of memory & better battery life on the phone.
They are also saying the 1080p SLCD 3 screen is incredibly frugal & the battery life so far is actually quite good.
I just want some more reviews ESPECIALLY from "Jooooohn V here from phonearena.com", to bring validity to that claim.
I am getting more & more intrigued by the HTC Droid DNA.

Your post in the earlier DNA article got me wondering about the DNA as well. If Sense could be dumped and if the phone and camera were state-of-the-art, the DNA could be compelling if the battery life was competitive.
HTC may have a winner with the DNA. I hope they have one. More competition is better for the consumer.

That is clearly my mentality, that is why I am willing to give the HTC Droid DNA a fair shake.
Let's hope the battery life is compelling.

But why not the nexus 4? Lol

No 4G LTE. To me I could never go back to 3G no matter how kick a$s a phone is. 4G LTE is a life changer. You need to experience it to know what I am talking about.

it is a great phone but i have to wait for the review especially on the battery...and for what its worth its an awesome smartphone but not a phablet

its HTC for god sake, if you really use it, it will only be about 2 hours. but if it only for show and left idle, it will easily last a day... better go with GNote2 with its 3100 mAh. i cant understand why htc always screw their customers: no sd slot, non remov. battery, and only put small battery inside.

From your post you have never used an HTC phone. I can easily get 3 hour of screen time with full brightness on my EVO LTE
29. BillyG (Posts: 305; Member since: 24 Sep 2012)
woww, i'm amazed that you're so proud of that 3 hours...
fyi, i did buy a htc one x, after couple of weeks i sold it to a friend and it becomes his problem now, bringing ext. battery everywhere he goes. few months later htc one x+ comes, and i'm laughing so hard at him and others that bought and stay with one x.

would've been a better phone had it had a battery of at least 2500mah
4. takay0 (Posts: 144; Member since: 25 Mar 2012)
no way man! you think it will be better phone with 2.5 RAM and 2GB S4 pro ?
oh curse it will be a better phon man
lets hope the lcd-3 its power saver and it will be just right
8. GUNDAM (Posts: 63; Member since: 20 Jul 2012)
i never said anything about the other specs being bad.... just very worried about this beast's battery life since it has to power over 2000000 pixels. My gs3 has a 2100mah battery and a lower screen resolution but it has a hard time staying above 15% by the time i go to sleep. i doubt that the droid dna will beat the gs3's battery life no matter how energy efficient the screen is :(
22. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5918; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
If the S4 Pro chipset is frugal power-wise, and if the display is also frugal with its power demands, there MAY not be an issue with the DNA's battery life.
Next question is when is PA going to do a review of the DNA?
30. takay0 (Posts: 144; Member since: 25 Mar 2012)
i know man... i was sarcastic... i know what you ment i was just kiddin... i agree with you that it would be better... but the screen is maybe with more ppi but its power savin compare to s-LCD2... and the chip is also better than the s2... so i hope it will be just enouth for 1 day use
31. GUNDAM (Posts: 63; Member since: 20 Jul 2012)
i hope so too :) but right now the battery is getting mixed reviews >_
13. JC557 (Posts: 1150; Member since: 07 Dec 2011)
My Rezound does surprisingly well for a phone with a 4.3" 720p display and old SnapDragon S3 on 1620mAH. Stand-by life is very good while mix usage is quite good.
A larger battery would've been nice considering the larger display with 1080p resolution. Hopefully the S4 Pro and new LCD3 will have advance power saving features.
If this thing is unlocked from the get go, has good battery life (considering), and is pleasing to hold/ use I can see myself buying this phone outright within the first week.

I am going to have to agree with you. The HTC Droid DNA is looking very, very sexy to me. I just hope the battery life is decent because if it is on STOCK, then once I root it will be excellent.

This phone just keeps looking better & better. I can't say the same for the 2,020mah non-removable battery though. But I have to admit, this phone is starting to grow on me.
9. Retro-touch (Posts: 264; Member since: 24 Oct 2011)
HTC always put in small batteries for some reason, but either way its a solid device and it shows people can never be satisfied despite all it offers
16. blackspot (Posts: 102; Member since: 14 Nov 2012)
As solid and as well-rounded as the HTC Droid DNA may be, HTC’s decision to go with that size battery in such a powerful device is questionable at best, when compared to a phone such as the Razor Maxx HD (3300 mAh battery) and even the Galaxy Note (2500 mAh).
Though I’m not very fond of HTC’s “non-micro sd card slot/non removable battery” approach, if HTC can achieve solid, if not commendable battery life in this phone, in relationship to the phone’s specs and size of the screen, I will be impressed.

Note 2 @ 3100 mAh..
The DNA will be DOA within 6 months. The battery life will kill this phone and HTC's chances of being a leading maker of phones.
HTC should have put at least a 3000 mAh battery and offered it to ALL carriers. But they didn't as far as we know. HTC is dying a slow costly death by sticking with one phone to one carrier. Like the EVO & others..
I'd consider this IF it were on ATT and had a better battery. This will be another Thunderbolt, just a HUGE dud

Can you unlock the carrier logo as well? Coz I hate that logo :)

Don't think you would get one anyway Wendy.
