0. phoneArena posted on 05 Nov 2012, 19:27

Not only did the HTC DROID DNA visit the FCC, but there is now speculation that the device will launch on December 6th; this will certainly be a beastly model witrh a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor and 2GB of RAM on board to go with that 5 inch 1080p screen...

Cue the epic music. The era of new quad-core beasts has begun.

Absolutely! and the phablet market is just starting to grow...however I do feel that being HTC's first phablet they shouldn't be pricing it close to the Note 2 as the Note series is already a proven success...HTC has to price this bad boy better I am saying somewhere around $149 fora two year contract and about $500 for an unlocked one.
That being said I know HTC too well....they never price their products in the reasonable range...the company has some sort of fixation on premium brand imaging!

2. KingKurogiii posted on 05 Nov 2012, 19:36 7

when this Droid rises all of the other phones will fall before it's might...until it's battery dies then the MAXX HD will be the supreme Droid while the DNA charges. ;]

4. androiddownsouth posted on 05 Nov 2012, 19:47 3

I lol'd hard on that one, but I'm still getting the DNA bro.=)

31. KingKurogiii posted on 06 Nov 2012, 00:02 1

go for it. it's a worth-while purchase, just not the one i'd really want to make. it's a device worthy of the Droid name and i'll look forward to seeing it in action. (:

Until a Nexus rises up and shows everyone the way.

27. KingKurogiii posted on 05 Nov 2012, 23:32 1

without LTE that Nexus will need some luck on it's side here in the states.

32. thelegend6657 posted on 06 Nov 2012, 00:03 2

But it support 42mbps Hspa+ on t mobile , which is fast enough .
For me LTE is nice , but I don't need it

41. Aeires (unregistered) posted on 06 Nov 2012, 07:11 1

Sounds like someone hasn't experienced HSPA+, this phone will do fine without LTE.

48. KingKurogiii posted on 06 Nov 2012, 10:26 1

i've experienced HSPA+ 42mbps but the experience doesn't compare to the one received from using Verizon's massive LTE network.

17. Birds posted on 05 Nov 2012, 21:00 1

Actually just reading the first five lines of your sentences....the Droid Rise will be a perfect name for another droid in the future....Just saying...But Droid DNA does stick better for a 5 inch 1080p phablet with a S4 pro chipset and the sexiest sexiest piece of sexy on the biggest sexy sexiest slab of red and black hardware on this side of sexy. Not to mention this device WILL BE SECKSEH!!!!!

28. KingKurogiii posted on 05 Nov 2012, 23:33

hahaha, well said. at least someone is rather fond of the name. Droid DNA just isn't doing it for me. i would've liked the Droid Supreme for a powerful phablet like this. ;D

3. mydi.maus posted on 05 Nov 2012, 19:40 1

htc dna will smoke all motorola droids

49. KingKurogiii posted on 06 Nov 2012, 10:27

yeah, maybe it will in all of the 5-6 hours it's alive. :P

5. oldghost posted on 05 Nov 2012, 19:47 5 1

Please, oh please let it have a Micro SD slot.
Irregardless of what Mr. Duarte claims, choice is good for consumers.
If I wanted less choice in my cellular hard wear I would go to iOS.

8. androiddownsouth posted on 05 Nov 2012, 19:49

It will have a microSD card slot from all sources I've found and been emailed by.=)

11. greekmanx posted on 05 Nov 2012, 20:05

it does not have a sd slot nor removable battery

16. androiddownsouth posted on 05 Nov 2012, 20:47 1

I have to disagree with that. The closest phone to it, the J Butterfly in Japan, has a microSD card slot. I know it doesn't have a removable battery, but that hasn't stopped the RAZR line.

I seriously doubt you can say for certain that it won't have one. Please do provide some sources that says it won't, b/c I'm an agent location manager for Verizon, and all sources I hear(inside and out) say it WILL have a microSD card slot.

If it doesn't have one, I will be happy to say I was wrong and you are right, but I believe it will have one.

44. greekmanx posted on 06 Nov 2012, 09:22

Well I work for Verizon corporate and I had the device in my hand. I can tell you it is 16GB internal storage and no SD slot and 2500mah battery Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and Sense 4+ as they are calling it. The Sim card slot is on the top of the device. The screen is mind blowing don't know how I can read all these articles saying that 1080p on a phone won't make a difference it does. Also it is fast the s4 quad core is blazing fast and google now works well also.

47. androiddownsouth posted on 06 Nov 2012, 09:56

If that is true then I apologize, and will have to rethink buying this device, as I need more than 16GB of storage. Plus, I like the security of knowing that if my phone fries for some reason, my pictures etc are still safe on my microSD card.

Can't tell you how many customers I've had with a fried phone and no microSD card get very upset that they have lost their pictures, and I don't want to be one of those people......

52. greekmanx posted on 06 Nov 2012, 12:01

that is what dropbox camera upload feature is for

53. alouden posted on 06 Nov 2012, 12:05

I would have to rethink buying the DNA also. 16 GB is not enough storage for me. Even if it were enough storage, I too am hesitant to rely on the phone's internal storage. Moreover, accessing on-line storage (assuming it's available) will tax data allotment. Well, I guess I will have to wait and see...

54. androiddownsouth posted on 06 Nov 2012, 12:08 1

The data allotment doesn't affect me since I have unlimited data and will buy a phone at retail(no discount for agent reps on phones that amounts to anything). It's also not just pictures but music. I've got my iTunes sync'd to my Rezound(iSyncr app ftw) and other music I've downloaded and I'd rather not have to replace it.

As I've said before, I've got a 32GB microSD card filled with movies, music, and pictures, and actually have a need for the card that the dropbox storage just can't cover.

61. alouden posted on 06 Nov 2012, 16:00

Glad I read this...I must get iSyncr to ssynch my itunes to my cell phone. Thanks for the inadvertent tip...

56. greekmanx posted on 06 Nov 2012, 14:55

that's why unlimited data is awesome

60. alouden posted on 06 Nov 2012, 15:55

Unlimited data is awesome. But I cannot afford to pay $600 for a mobile phone. So I will lose unlimited data when I upgrade. Of course I could get one from eBay, but I couldn't get the latest releases. So when I upgrade to the DNA, Note 2 or Optimus Blaze (A guy can hope it is an option, yes?) I will lose unlimited data.

Irregardless lmao go to school much? that's not even a word! #grammer police

19. crankyd00d posted on 05 Nov 2012, 21:22 5

Umm isn't it GRAMMAR? /slap

21. KParks23 posted on 05 Nov 2012, 21:42 4

Haha yea but misspelling using a phone keyboard and making up words are 2 different things!

23. Izzy_V posted on 05 Nov 2012, 22:53 1

Grammar includes punctuation, capitalization, etc. Major fail when you pick out spelling mistakes, call yourself the "grammer" police, but forget or don't know what makes up grammar.

#Grammar FBI. :P

it says right in ur link its not a word! that regardless is..LOL sorry u guys missed the humor in my post

37. Berzerk000 posted on 06 Nov 2012, 05:14 1

"The most frequently repeated remark about it is that 'there is no such word.' There is such a word, however."

You should read more carefully. It says it IS a word, just not hugely accepted as of yet.

39. KParks23 posted on 06 Nov 2012, 06:13 1

its not proper english so its not a word. the proper word is regardless.. it only says its accepted as a word because people are retarded and keep using it in other words its slang. Y U MAD BRO?

42. Berzerk000 posted on 06 Nov 2012, 08:09 1

I never said it was proper English, I said it was a word. My point still stands on the fact that your original statement, saying "irregardless" wasn't a word, is wrong.

Y U USE WORN OUT AND STUPID INTERNET SAYINGS BRO?

51. KParks23 posted on 06 Nov 2012, 10:59 1

O ok my bad I mean... Y U MAD BRUH?

38. skier51423 posted on 06 Nov 2012, 05:53 1

Your phone did not misspell 'grammar'... you did =)

On a side note, why does it always seem like the grammar police are equally guilty of flubbing up the English language?

Don't worry man, I'm all about tech, and right now, Android has the best tech imo. WP8 could be awesome, and Apple is always capable of making really cool stuff, IF they could gtfo of the courtroom lol.

7. The_Innovation posted on 05 Nov 2012, 19:49

I only have one question.

Where, is Harvy Dent....

Just kidding. I'm actually curious on what the battery capacity is with all these "beastly" features. Because they're useless if the phone doesn't last.

9. androiddownsouth posted on 05 Nov 2012, 19:50

Current speculation is a 2500mah battery, which isn't bad. Hopefully this is the case, b/c otherwise it will have the 2020mah battery the J Butterfly does in Japan, which is not so nice.....

12. greekmanx posted on 05 Nov 2012, 20:06

it is 2500mah battery

20. GALAXY-STORM posted on 05 Nov 2012, 21:34 1

only 2020mah battery? seriously not enough for a 5 inch quad core behemoth.

57. greekmanx posted on 06 Nov 2012, 14:56

2500mah

the DNA of a beast!! wow.. likey!

25. MorePhonesThanNeeded posted on 05 Nov 2012, 23:07 1

The jury is still out on that 2500mAh battery, it still seems too paltry for a phone this size and packing such a high density LCD. I seriously hope that S4 Pro is a power miser and that Super LCD screen doesn't use much power for this thing to last anywhere near 8 hours of regular usage, which is garbage on a phone this big. Big batteries are a must, Motorola has shown that this is key, even the Note II comes with a 3100mAh battery, why HTC why would you shoot your greatest phone by spec standards in the foot before it even gets out of the gate?

I swear it's like some Android manufacturers go to lunch on some part of the decision making when it comes to their kick ass products. Motorola tends to do that when it comes to cameras, HTC does it with measly batteries, Samsung does it when it comes to having sturdy outer shells...what the hell is wrong with these guys?

26. downbeat4 posted on 05 Nov 2012, 23:19 1

I got to use this device tonight at a VZW quarterly kickoff....it's badass! It's VERY light and considering its a 5" screen, it's easy to use with one hand. Also saw the Note 2 (real big), the HTC 8x and Lumnia 822 which got me thinking about given MS a shot, but when I saw the DNA I was sold. The screen is unreal, the OS is snappy and the camera was impressive. I got caught trying to snap a photo of it. The rep wasn't too happy with me...to put it mildly. We have some nice devices coming to the line up, but the DNA is a standout fo sho!!

45. greekmanx posted on 06 Nov 2012, 09:25 1

I was there also it was an amazing phone I was sold on the Note 2 until I played with the DNA and now I want that phone it is amazing looking.

46. McLTE posted on 06 Nov 2012, 09:55

Ugh.. now you've got me thinking.. Note II or the DNA???

I'm generally not all that impressed with HTC phones and their UI, though my wife LOVES them.

I was really impressed with my brother's Note II.. the size is BIG.. but its' great for web pages and the S-pen is awesome!

I'm not sure what to do now..

55. downbeat4 posted on 06 Nov 2012, 12:41

I walked away from the Nokia table thinking "im gonna go for it", but then I held the DNA and quickly changed my mind.

58. greekmanx posted on 06 Nov 2012, 14:57
