webOS might be the first thing that pops into your mind when you see a portrait QWERTY slider, but this latest leak could change your perception of an HP-branded handset altogether. This yet unannounced device by HP comes…

I'm hoping that at&t will carry the pre3 as well. I really like webos. For me, it's the only os that could rival ios in capabilities. And I really like the way the pre3 communicates to the hp touchpad. I'm impressed.

iOS and webOS really haven't changed much.
I love webOS and think its hell of a lot better than iOS.

Why? Other than multi-tasking, because thats pretty much all it has over it. That said I'd rather have both over Android

If the pre3 has LTE then it is the only phone I'm interested in, and yes I do live in a LTE area. I'm a college student at ithaca college and I use my phone for basically everything, which makes the hardware keyboard a big plus. But If it doesn't have it then I'm not so sure what to get.

I doubt the Pre3 will have LTE. Most of the LTE devices coming to market in Q2-Q3 are very large, probably due to the need for additional space for the LTE radio/antenna. While the Pre3 is significantly larger than the Pre/Pre2, it's still on the small side for a smartphone. The Pre3 will probably be a CDMA/GSM "global" phone given how HP is marketing it as a business oriented model, but LTE is not likely.

And per the current specs on the Pre 3, even 4G is not likely. Nor is a dual-core processor.

I am truly bummed by this, only due to the fact the HP branded handsets will probably come out to late for our phone upgrade decision. I am a HUGE fan of WebOS, as most people who discuss the Palm/HP phones are. It is a fun, full featured OS, only lacking Apps to be competitive. (Which truly doesn't put them too far behind RIM or Microsoft.) But what upsets me the most is I enjoy portrait slider phones more then landscape sliders, so Palm 3 is a very appealing handset. I will be happy with the choices out this summer, and a full touch screen does give a bigger screen to enjoy. But I would love to have seen these devices as an option.
While I do not live in a 4G area, and will be among the last to get it, these phones being 3G is not a major loss to me, but I worry how competitive they will be without 4G as late in the year as they come out, as every other market they need to sell well will have phones with those options. Also worry they will have a smaller processor, when even Blackberry devices will have 1.2 G single core. A 1G may not be enough to compete on a new brand. Hope HP is listening to someone with Mobile Industry experience.....

The Pre3 has a 1.4ghz single core cpu.

Wow. Very Respectable. Most powerful single core I have heard yet.

I will buy this phone IF hp greatly expands their app market, and put a battery in that will keep the phone going all day. I've endured the short-comings of the Pre since its launch in June '09. I hate knowing that if Im going to be making a lot of phone calls that I'm going to need to plug the phone in to a power source. WebOS is awesome, but it's just missing the fun factor.

iphone sucks so bad! so old and grey her stuff is. long live android! world's #1 OS!!!

You wish the iPhone sucked. Thing is, Palm is a joke now. The Pre sucked hard even though WebOS is a good OS. It just needs a more competent developer.

oh, they don't wish, because its already true. Also, its called HP palm.

Eh...very little faith in Palm or HP Palm whomever. I carry a Pre2 for business & even tho the OS is not bad the design of the hardware is mediocre. I'm not sure what is with Palm and this eggish look but it's a terrible idea. Even though it has a 1Ghz processor it doesnt seem to have as much girth as the other guys out there. HP needs reinvent the hardware for webOS b/c the Pre line has been a failure. Look at the pricing drops...looks to be failing to me.
