lol, Since Microsoft has its own ability to make hardware, does that make windows 8 closed source or semi-permeable sourced?

I'm not sure what the NYT is talking about regarding the HP Slate. I can belive there were conflicts between HP and MS but the problems with specs are based on specs that are just plain wrong. Here are the specs for the 2010 Slate and the 2010 3G iPad:
Dimensions:
234 x 145 x 14.7 mm - Slate
243 x 190 x 13.4 mm - iPad
Both weigh 680 g. Both are passively cooled and silent (the Slate doesn't have a fan).
It sounds more like they were describing the OQO 02 which I used to own; a device from many years ago which was an inch thick with an annoying fan. It was highlighted by Gates, not Ballmer, at the 2007, not 2010 CES.
Sent from my HP Slate 500.

WebOS..... What a waste.....
But, I could see this as being true. A little ego, sprinkle in falling behind, add a dash of unreasonable expectations and bake until it boils over. Both HP and MS learned something, meanwhile Apple and Google became Kings of the Kitchen.
Can hardly wait for the movie.....
