HP to build Android flavored tablet?

0. phoneArena 13 Feb 2013, 18:39 posted on

Sources with connections to HP are saying that the tech titan will be turning to Android for its next big mobile device, a tablet and not just any tablet but a high-end model that will be running a NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor; the source is not allowed to talk about unreleased products, but says that the tablet will be introduced soon...

Before anyone jumps on the "HP tried that already" wagon, take notice: This is not a WebOS tablet like before. That tablet (and OS) was doomed from the start and only started selling big after they discontinued it and marked it down.

I think HP could really break the mold with a solid tablet, especially if it holds a quad-core Tegra 4, LTE, and the latest Android OS. Throw in Beats Audio and you have THE multimedia powerhouse for the masses.

Nvidia doesn't even make the best chip, duh...they are grossly overrated in thetablet/smartphone universe..oh and Beats is just a software tweak...nothin special

Not the best chips, but Nvidia is still impressive. The Tegra SoC is one of the most common processors out there, used in devices such as the Transformer Infinity, the Surface, One X and Nexus 7. Well-balanced and capable of handling a workload.

As for Beats Audio, it's a tweak, yet a noticeable tweak. Beats is pretty much a custom equalizer that allows higher quality output, but it does make a difference depending on what hardware/peripherals are used. For multimedia, it's a good way to go..

We'll just have to wait and see this "high-end" tablet and judge 4 ourselves.

Since they are making a Chrome book this isnt to much of a shock. and with them using a tegra 4 will make this very interesting. I wonder if they will try and stream games from there windows laptops and desktops to the device.

I bought the TouchPad when it was first launched. It was not a failure by any means. HP simply gave up on it. Big difference in deeming it a failure on arrival - in my opinion.

WebOS was not doomed. That was one of the best OSes available at that time. I would say that was equal to or better than IOS or Android and definitely better than Windows Phone (7/7.5/7.8/8). That failed because Palm did not know how to reap the benefits of their rocksolid os and HP being HP (read "dumbass") killed it before it even breathed its first. Who on earth would spend millions / billiions in acquiring a company, working on the products, manufacturing so many devices and then pronouncing them dead before they even hit the market?

HP, Please dont do a halfassed job with this at least.
