The back of Monday's New York Times has a full page ad for the HP Veer 4G with the device shown in its actual (small) size; the copy brags about the device being the smallest 4G smartphone in the nation...

This Veer is way to much of a niche product due to it's size. I think it is brilliant to package a smaller device to all the 4" plus products out there. But this thing is so small, it is near unusable. Not sure if this was the best choice to kick off the new WebOS devices. What would have been wrong with the Pre 3, Touch pad, and say a 3.5" to 3.7" landscape slider or pure touchscreen to offer a smaller option to the Samsung Infuse and Droid X2?
Nothing against the Veer, but like Will Smith said in "Men In Black" about his first gun, the Screaming Cricket-
"..I think I am gonna break this thing!!!"

I think releasing the Veer now and waiting to release the Pre 3 is smart. It's a neat little device that peaks people's interest and once they hear good reviews about it, if it is too small or unusable for them, they will jump on the Pre 3 train and wait a few months for it to launch. I hope WebOS does well with these devices, it would be good to see another big dog in with all the iOS v. Android stuff. More options for O.S. will drive competition and all O.S. will work harder to gain or maintain and edge

HP/Palm told a blatant lie to it's customers about webOS 2.0 & Flash coming to Legacy Devices; to their most loyal customers who have stuck with you through the tough times. Me entire family will all be getting non-webOS devices come fall. I'll never buy another HP mobile product ever again.

It ain't whining if you own the phone. It's called experience, then. You are allowed to be irritated.
Now, people who cry about the system and have never have owned it- that's whining.

1: Att not real 4G
2: Isn't the tiny thing the reason the first failed so bad?
3: everyone should thing about how this would look on a 4.3inch screen....some noobs only by phones because of the screen size....thats how you get more sales.

I Agre, i do like web os. and 4.3 is too big. 3.7-4"in perfect. Keyboard is a turn off unless its landscape.

Saw this phone first hand on Saturday at Best Buy Mobile.
Key pad is too small and difficult to type
Does not have an SD slot
At first sight looks cool but not very functional phone, reminds me of the Kin 1 & 2
