HP on Microsoft Surface: it's no competition, "slow and a little kludgey"

0. phoneArena posted on 15 Nov 2012, 05:51

The Surface tablet is off to a “modest” start, but that does not stop Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer from trash talking…

Lol this is so funny for hp to say ,how can you criticize a company that u depend on 100% what would hp do without windows ,oh maybe sell web os on computers lol , hp shut the hell up and start making more good products cuz last time I check Lenovo took first place and u didn't even notice.

How about bring back WebOS for starters.

these OEMs did not make any changes for last 10years and now with MS brought a big change and surface is key to push the new OS not just itself.
If HP makes good devices like this it can be in game again along side of MS.
Acer and HP are loosing game and trying to stop surface.

"slow and a little kludgey", ironic seeing how HP mass produces craptastic hardware with tonnes of bloatware while having ZERO reliability whatsoever.

WebOS is an open scource project. Its being made into a TV for the first version of open scource. Closed webOS has nothing to do with this. So don't criticize and OS that isn't even in the market.

Its slow because MS decided to go with Tegra3(T30)...not sure why they didn't go with qualcomm's 4core S4(2.0 ghz maybe)...may be they'll refresh lineup soon!

I guess this is all about budget allocation. MS has spent too much on the construction of the tablet and they don't have much money left for internals and screen.

But precisely those things are what people need, just look at the way Nexus 10 and Nexus 7 are built, it's complete opposite approach.

And who's the one losing money; especially, who's the one who cut the price of their tablet by half because it wasn't selling well? That's right HP. Shut up!

I have to agree with HP on this one. Windows 8 has a lot of potential, but windows RT is just awful, and the Surface does not showcase it as well as I'd have believed one month ago. Many manufacturers can do better on the processor and the screen aspects. I mean they said that it's screen is better than the iPad's with it's 1366*768 resolution, which in fact is not according to display mate (can't argue with that). Heck samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1 has a very slightly worse screen. Asus, HP and Samsung can do better. I'm a bit excited for the surface pro, but much less so than I did before I saw the surface RT.

That may be true, but if we think about the Surface as Microsoft's Nexus tablet, it makes more sense as a mid-range device. For what you pay you get a good tablet with very good build quality and an ecosystem that, while young, has a lot of money and momentum behind it. The screen is adequate, as most honest reviewers haven't noticed much difference between an ipad4's and the Surface, and sometimes prefer it for text reading, and especially for writing (mostly when used with the Touch/Type covers). Future updates will bring further improvements (there's already one out, I believe), and future generations of the device will undoubtedly improve upon the formula.

I won't buy another HP product the rest of my life based on how they treated me while I was getting my degree. The computer I bought sucked, I had to send it in to be fixed twice in 6 months b/c it would crash playing an effing DVD!!!!! And it was allegedly an entertainment edition laptop. In the end, I sent it back to them for whatever check they would cut me to buy it back, and I'll never use them again for any personal items. They have no room to criticize ANYONE b/c no matter if their products are any good(imo, the aren't), their customer service is the worst I've ever experienced.

HP should throw stones at no one b/c they are in one hell of a fragile glass house.
