HP cancels some TouchPad orders placed through their web site?

Interestingly, one of our readers managed to inform us that a recording being played through HP’s customer support hotline is informing them about cancellations on recent TouchPad orders. Specifically, it’s played right away when calling up...

It's likely because a slickdeals poster found a way to create a link to a shopping cart with the touchpad saved in it on Monday, and by clicking that link, you could buy one even though you couldn't find it on the rest of the site. It was pretty ingenious, but I feel like one should expect cancellation and be happy if it goes through in that case

You have to wonder if some of HP's went to retailers that oversold.

People have to face reality and buy someone else's property for more than $200-$250 for 16GB model and $300-$350 for the 32GB model on eBay and Craigslist. I was lucky enough to trade my PS3 for the 16GB model and have a 32GB model on the way from Best Buy.
My impressions of the TouchPad's are mixed at best. I have been/still am a Android user, iOS user and now WebOS. Personally, the iPad a much much more polished and is much smoother in operation over the WebOS. Its no comparison. I have done all of the speed tweaks and the web browser on the Touchpad and I find slightly better, but there is lag in the browser. However, the plus is that WebOS is a true multi-tasking OS. You can listen to a song onYoutube in the background while browsing the net. That is a great feature in which you can't find on Android or iOS.
Overall so far, I give it a 7.5 out 10. The iPad I give it a 8.5 out of 10.

So you traded a PS3 for a 16GB Touchpad? Are you insane?

Not at all. I have had the PS3 120GB slim for nearly a year. It was in excellent shape before the trade. Hardly even used it, but mainly used it for only Netflix and not even for Blu-rays. The retail price of the Touchpad was $399. The retail price of the PS3 was $299. Touchpad 16GB are going for $250-$300 on eBay. At most I can get roughly $200 for the PS3. The pricing is now $249. My TV is the Samsung PN63C8000 series with Netflix and widgets with wifi built-in. No need for a separate box for Netflix. I'm not a gamer, as I don't care about the gaming experience.
For blu-ray I can get the Google TV Sony NSZ-GT1 for $165 on Amazon.
So this deal worked out for both of us.

you didnt look very hard on ebay, I got 2 32gb for 200$ each yesterday. Had to wait and refresh the page a few hundred times but the deal came. You just have to click buy it now only options and navigate to the cheapest one for sale, then refresh the page until a deal comes up but you gotta snag it right away because a ton of other ppl are doing the same thing.

wow that surely is a good deal.
cuz i ordered a few 32GBs from HP and it was roughly 167 each. 149 + tax of 12 + freight charge of 6.xx
I don't know why but coupons were not working.
If the seller pays ebay fee of 9% and paypal fee of 3-5%, he is not able to make money off of it. If he was lucky enough to apply coupons he would make 30+ dollars.

How about a swedish galaxy S2 ? : P
Disclaimer. I do not own a galaxy S2, it was just a joke about me buying one for you and shipping it to you.

I was reading about the 8/22 04:00 cutoff on slickdeals.net I believe on the afternoon of 8/22 (Monday). I'm one of those who managed to get an order in to HP late Sunday night. My order is still out there, not cancelled yet, so there's still hope. I could give a rat's patoot about WebOS. I'll be slapping Android on there as quick as it's available.
