THANK GOD THEY GOT A BIGGER DISPLAY. that was one of my complaints with the original Pre. now it has a fighting chance

HP/Palm must have won the award for shortest time to obsolescence - the Pre 2 got obsoleted in what 4 months?
Interesting how there is no CDMA edition. Guess HP/Palm are not exactly feeling the VZW love?

kinda like the droid 2 and droid 2 global?
they'd be making a big mistake excluding CDMA.

So, they aren't going to really push the Pre 2 but are already getting ready for the Pre 3? I say that's kind of lame.

What the hell is the difference between this and the Pre2, and Pre1?
They're all HIDEOUS!

Single-core processor and that tiny screen? Exactly what the high end is all about

who shit in ur sundae? its still a great phone and there still isnt even any dual core processors out right NOW. there maybe then but it in no way makes this phone a steaming pile. it will still b faster than any droid currently on the market. Not everyone want a giant screen. relax, have a beer or whatever u need to do, and come to grips that they make phones for the average joe, not average Jeromeo.

technically, the Streak7, which released last week on Tmobile carries the dual core Tegra2 processor, so yea, they are out :).
I dont know which will be faster, but its also not a fair test regardless of who wins. They arent the same system so they dont run things the same way. Comparing this to the pre2 would make a much more fair comparison since of course its the same OS.
Let em fight for it. Many people love the OS but hate the phone. Hopefully with HP in charge, that will change. This is definately a solid step (though i wish they would fix that cramped ass keyboard)
The more competition in the marketplace, the better we all are.

what a tiny upgrade. i love my pre plus, but the 2 and 3 are just jokes. and the 2 is coming to verizon now? when will the 3 be here? bye bye pre.

i dont get it. there was all this hype for the webos event and this is what they come out with. basically the same pre with faster processor and no other form factor. and where is the pixi remodel. i dont care what anyone says, the veer is not it. hp better learn quick what people want if they want to be the new apple.

I agree this was a big let down i had my hopes set on 4inch webos enabled dualcore dragon but instead i ended up with a 3.6inch webos enabled singlecored fish

Well, this is exactly the right upgrade:
- The keyboard is said to have been improved; that's what's been necessary.
- The camera had been upgraded in quality and can take HD video. Previous Palm WebOS devices had been a let-down in this aspect.
- The screen (hopefully still Gorilla glass protected as the Pre 2) is the right size with a substantially better resolution.
What are you guys ranting about? (Warning: The easily offended might want to read another posting...)
No dual-core! So what?
Current mobile OSses don't make good use of them. Read some tests and educate yourself - for now you've just fallen for some marketing bullshit.
In phones it's still CPU speed that's important. And the Pre 3 is high specced.
Tiny screen! You're kidding me, right?
4.3" monster barely fit comfortably in normal sized hands. Also, the screen's free of and virtual keyboard, so it's real 3.6" size, not some 4" minus 40-60% for the vkeybd. Think, just a little please, before posting utter nonsense.
Same design. Yes, please!
With competition of the Dell Venue Pro and the Blackberry Storm 2 (which is only rumored up to now) the form factor is not exactly overrun and something Palm owners have come to love. Why should HP be concerned with YA full touch phone before updating the existing line? And there's still the "Mansion" to come, remember?
I very much hope HP will resist closing the platform in the way that seem's so appealing to larger companies. WebOS specially has a strength in easily development and install - I hope that HP can conceive this as an asset.
From my point of view, I'm in.
That doesn't mean to say, that other approaches aren't valid, of course.
I'd be very much in love with the "two apps display" of the "Palm Pre HD" and I could like the "Palm Superior HD" from the precentral mock-up contest: http://www.precentral.net/next-palm-device-mock-up-contest-winners
But didn't Jon Rubinstein promised a new WebOS device any two months from now on? Well, wait and see...

Why Can't they get more creative with the design of the phone. Are they ever going to change the style.

I'm using PrePlus & I ought to say that I'm fairly excited about #HP WebOS development as on "OS". Looking forward to seeing it on desktops/laptops.
Quite frankly, I expected following attributes from #HP flagship device to take on competition fiercely:
1. Sturdy aluminium/metal casing instead of plastic.
2. Better resolution & OLED/SuperAmoled gorilla glass screen.
Screen size & qwerty is fine with my preference.

The Pre 3 will get my purchase!
I don't want a 4" display.. the 3.6" is just big enough
This is just the beginning, I am sure there going to have more to come and they would be stupid to let this generation of the smart phones go out to all carriers
