HP Omni 10 looking promising: runs on Intel's latest quad-core Atom Z3770 and Windows 8.1 for $399

A new tablet has been sneakily outed by the lately slumbering HP, and it's actually good enough on paper to raise questions as to why it wasn't drummed up by the company...

Fairly good looking deal for me.
If you care more about using a tablet rather than narcissisticaly rubbing it's premium, expensive design on other's face you will be quite ok with this HP.

Past experiences with HP hardware problems and their horrendous customer service have forced me to never buy from them again :|

$200 cheaper than the iPad Air.....not bad at all.

Can the ipad air run full x86 applications? Also the ipad air cpu might be good compared to other arm ones but baytrail crushes it in cpu performance.

A7 is beast...cpu performance of atom 3770 is almost equal.

And the comparable tablets price wise to the iPads are i3s and i5s that are 3 to 4x more powerful. The a7 is fast but it is not as fast as a quad core baytrail. The per core performance is about equal.

This could be best windows tablet for real.

Its far from it. It lacks a ssd which should be a requirement for these tablets. Emmc is garbage. I would wait till some 4GB versions of windows 8.1 baytrail tablets come out with 128gb ssd storage for like $500.
The Asus T100TA-C1-GR is the best for the $ right now.

You want 128 GB SSD, 4 GB tablets for $500.
Why don't you ask them for free?
eMMC though not as fast as SSD, they are good enough for most.
Just check the videos of dell venue 8 pro. It has similar storage and even slower atom than this one.
But its very fast as day to day performance. They can even run desktop games.

I would like my tablet to boot in 10 seconds not 2 minutes emmc can go die. Also an i3 with a 120gb sad and 4gb ddr3 is $600 so yes a baytrail chips are $100 cheap $500 is right on target.

Dell Venue 8 pro boots in 8 seconds.
As I said above it has slower atom and eMMC.
Get the facts before spreading lies.

Just go and try it first...then write it down!

i think the other Transformer Book T100 is the best for the $ right now.
8.1 bay trail tablet with SD slot. It runs only 2gb of RAM but seems the 64bit stuff coming in Jan will run about twice as much as this $300 option that comes with a keyboard

Hmm Tech site device testers say that Windows 8.1 uses 16 gigs of main memory. you can get some of it back but folks 64 gigs seems to be the best minimum size any Windows 8.1 device should have for it's main memory so you definably have to use it's 32 gigs of it's
expandable memory to use to store data on it. 400 dollars is in the price range to move a lot of these HP 10's off the store shelves. does it have an dock/Keyboard.

I've seen pictures of the dock but neither MS or HP have any information on it. Any Bluetooth keyboard will work so that's not an issue. This teasing with product launches and accessories is sure frustrating. Do I buy something that's out or believe the release dates when they are often vague? As far as storage, 32 is pretty slim but it has an SD slot. Mostly it's video that takes the storage and for me I would only rotate a couple movies on it so I can live with the storage. The shortcomings make it affordable. MS told me it doesn't come with office. Other advertisements I've seen have it coming with Home and Student. All in all I like the bare bones offering because some people like me have a copy of office I can load and I don't want to pay for a dock or keyboard. Good luck getting one of these tablets though.

Is that a full sized USB 2.0/3.0 in that picture?

Besides the Dell Venue Pro 8, this is the best W8.1 tab for the price. It puts Nokia's RT tab to shame.

Look up The Transformer Book T100. Already out, supports SD, and comes with a keyboard all for the same price. The specs are the same too. But we all can wait for a side by side later

No they aren't, the T100 has a weaker Z3740 , HD screen and weaker quality overall

Does anyone actually have this tablet yet? It was on pre-order at the MS store on 11/2. It was officially on sale at the site on 11/7. They offered overnight shipping so someone should have one by now. I pre-ordered on the morning of 11/2 with standard ground shipping when they opened the pre-order. MS gave me all kinds of promises. The first one was that I would have it on the 11/7 release date. Five subsequent inquires later and assurances with each one, I was told they were out of stock. Yesterday I was told I should cancel my order and go with overnight shipping and I would have a tracking number yesterday as well. I'm kind of wondering if MS actually has any of these.

Intel Atom Z3770... Sounds like Core i7 3770K
