I agree 100% with this article.. HP mismannaged WebOS so badly that I hardly see a come back.. Palm is long gone, and with it, everythiing else... :(

This is just sad. Even Microsoft knows that it needs to mix its FUD in with positive points about WP7. Meg impresses me less each time she opens her mouth.

Well, at this point I don't know if believe that Android will continue be Open Source.
look what Google did with Samsung Galaxy nexus ( contract exclusive with Verizon ) that is not Open source ??
6. bigdawg23 posted on 17 Feb 2012, 11:19 3 0
Verizon only get a launch exclusive. Its headed to T-Mo and Sprint.
8. victo410 posted on 17 Feb 2012, 11:35 0 4
Well, launch exclusive or Forever exclusivity is too late for Galaxy nexus. right at the corner you have Galaxy SIII , HTC, maybe Motorola Atrix 3. (exclusivity just worked with att&t and apple Iphone ) but With Android don't work.

The rumor is that the galaxy nexus is going to get a small bump in specs to stay competitive when it relaunches on other carriers.
Besides, it was never meant to be the biggest beast on the block. Its a reference device for developers and the only device for people that dont want to play the update waiting game.
People hear dual core, no update games, and look at that big beautiful screen and they will buy it.

I`m agreed with you ( Galaxy nexus is a nice piece Hardware ( I love stock android and Ti processor )
but I`m not mad with Samsung or galaxy nexus.
I`m mad with the f**king Google for be part of ( Circus exclusivity business.

Yeah the Nexus is as fast as any reasonable person needs (for now at least).
I don't play games on my phone so I actually underclocked my Nexus to 1.0GHz for battery saving reasons and even with a conservative governor in place it is still extremely smooth.

Specific hardware being exclusive to a specific carrier does not have an impact on whether or not the OS is open source. It's the OS that is open source and currently available to all manufacturers to roll out on their own hardware.

It's also available unlocked for GSM carriers (Steve Wozniak has one)

It's clear you have no idea what the hell open source means. So please stop talking.

I do not thing Google will do this. If Google do this then companies like Samsung and HTC may try to go away from Android. As we know South Korean government trying to create Android alternative. Samsung and HTC are the major players in Android phone than Motorola. These two companies have more than 60% Android market share. in my opinion Google just purchase Motorola mainly for those 17000 (important) patent only.

She is just a jealous c♣nt (let ♣ = u) who has no business running a company like HP; she is better suited for Apple…

Speculating on others as opposed to hyping your own OS shows no confidence in your product. Sell those HP share NOW.

That is so against Google's operating methods.. that this will NEVER happen.
Google makes it's revenue by advertising.. it would be suicide for them to go closed source and limit their HW to Moto.. that will NEVER happen.
Google will only ever acheive total world domination (pinky in cheek) by remaining open source and getting their OS into the hands of as many people as possible, whether it's through mobile phones, TV's, appliances, or whatever..
Android will remain open. No point really in even discussing it.

Okay, I just figured it out: Ms Whitman is taking pointers from our old buddy Peter, the Bada Cheerleader. She called him up in Sweden, asked him how to pump up WeBOS to the unsuspecting public, and he gave her all his talking points on why Bada was going to run the mobile world in a couple years. Than she just crossed out Bada and inputted WeBOS. Peter lives on.......

Many have said this but I feel Google's OS is going really strong open sourced . There hasn't been anything drastic to make them think about closing the OS. It sets itself apart from the rest and how it can continue to give the paying customer's what they look forward to.

HP is a good company. They should put WebOS back on its feet, strenghten their product line with Win8 and most of all: Innovatoons, innovations! Otherwise they will be just another manufacturer like all the yellow ones like Samsung, LG, etc.

Memo to HP Board of DIrectors - dump Meg! Now. You made a mistake. The longer you wait to do the inevitable, the worse it will be for HP.

that was very lame, i was able to try a webos well i can say way back before its a topnotch., but its downfall came when HP decides to dumped it despite its potential, and now what? they are trying to relive it once more? its not yet too late, but i think if they wanted to get the crowd of techie's attention once more. they better do the work not a chat! and they must double the effort., double the effort that the WP7 just did.
