Gowalla beta now available for Android
Gowalla is the location based social networking site that right now has issued a beta version app for Android. While a higher version build will be available before the end of the month at Android Market, the current version can be downloaded from this link from your Android browser, or by scanning the QR code below. Founder Josh Williams notes that this version is not complete as he calls it beta release 0.1. Not included in this download is Gowalla Trips and Items and graphics display slowly because of the lack of caching at this time. Still, TechCrunch says that the Android beta beats the release for the iPhone. And because the former version starts off the bat by checking which of your friends has checked in, it makes it more socially oriented than the latter's app where the friend list is the very last tab.

Gowalla allows you to visit certain locations, post to other social sites like Facebook and Twitter, and "stamp" your passport to get rewards from the places you visit. You can also share your experiences at certain locations with other members. It's a fun and games way to get around.
