Google's co-founder Larry Page steps in as CEO, Eric Schmidt staying as Executive Chairman

Google just announced at its quarterly earnings report that the CEO Eric Schmidt will be replaced by Larry Page, one of the co-founders. Eric will still be in charge of the business partnerships and Google's government representative as an Executive Chairman...

Only time will tell if Larry is up to the challenge. If not Apple (and others) stand ready to eat Google's Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. And even the midnight snack.

My question is what has Larry done recently (or at any time in the past) that is analogous to running a company the size of Google? Techies rarely are able to make the transition to CEO.

In any event, we will know soon enough. Internet time as the saying goes....
