Google hits a homerun with this prank for sure, and frankly after watching a few times, we're still giggling ourselves...

Other than point out that this is, indeed, an April Fool's prank that I am not convinced is really aimed at Microsoft at all.

It never mentions Microsoft at all and is not intended as an ad.

In the meantime, Microsoft's Scroogled campaign is a clear attempt at spreading FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt). And frankly, that's what most of Microsoft's advertising is about these days; trying to make the competitors look bad without any commentary on what makes them different.

And no, I won't thumb you down. You don't need that in order to know that you're a dumbass.

This clip - April Fools prank. Doesnt even mention MS......at all. Yea it could be seen as a dig at MS....a funny one at that....lol.

Scroogled - attempt by MS to lie to make Google look bad. At the same time MS does similar things with its web email that GMail does...but doesnt tell folks that in the Scroogled campaigns...

Yea....you're right....how foolish could we be!! :/

How in the world can you begin to compare this to Scroogled? Did Google anywhere say anything bad about MS, Windows, Bing, hotmail, outlook.com?

Exactly.

And might I add that it can be opted out in GMail....just like in hotmail and outlook.com.

MS ever so kindly leaves that out in the Scroogled campaign.

Yea...its exactly the same.... :/ :/

11. Dynamac (Posts: 20; Member since: 01 Dec 2012)

It's aimed at Windows 8 Blue (Windows Blue) which is expected to be the code name for a series of developments and updates to Windows 8 and WP8. Since it's being readied for release so soon after Win 8's release, the joke here is that it will be very superficial changes (ie change the colour) and nothing substantial at all, yet Windows is likely to headline it as relatively new versions of Windows.

The important part was the "barely literate" bit.

Defend Microsoft all you want, despite the company being composed of scumbags whose fingers are about 20 miles off the pulse of society.

Just do it intelligently. Above was not an intelligent remark by any means. (Not you, the other asshole).

''Defend Microsoft all you want, despite the company being composed of scumbags whose fingers are about 20 miles off the pulse of society.''

and google are there just to heal the world and sing songs of peace right? face it no company give a crap about society all they see is money. google though are experts at making themselves look like the good guys. i mean look at most of these hating one big company and defending another.....both are the same

i just think this sites gone too one way with google been seen as the victim and good guy where every other company is labelled evil....if google found a way to increase there income that the ones on here didnt agree with they would still do it they only want money is what im saying in a very long way

all companies are evil and have as you say scumbags in them

What has Google done that shows they are in any way interested in profit at the expense of customer experience and happiness?

The answer is: barely anything. Sure, it could all just be one big charade. Google could really be the personification of Snidely Whiplash. And once its current crop of executives retires, moves elsewhere or dies, it's possible the new generation could be Snidely Whiplashes as well.

However, as of yet there is no evidence that is the case. Every project Google does appears to be aimed at improving the lives of every human on earth they can reach.

Microsoft, on the other hand, is ruled by a sweaty asshole with a Super Saiyan temper and who very publicly poo pooed both the iPhone and, months later, Android. Also, Ballmer has the most unbelievably punchable face I've ever seen. Apple teases us with hints they're coming out of the Darth f**king Vader period they lived in under Jobs, but then they keep pulling asshole moves too. Blackberry is just now showing signs they have something positive to offer the tech world again, and I'm actually kind of rooting for them to make a comeback. They used to have unbelievable assholes running the company, but those idiots have left and the new guy seems pretty capable.

So....no, Google isn't the only company I like. Far from it. In the discussion of them versus Microsoft though, I'm definitely going for Google.

i already justified my point...and boy you need to change your perspective...i didn't ever mention google was a bad company....my point is if another company does the same thing in a different way....you can't let them get away with it....just mindlessly supporting google doesn't make sense....also have a broader sense of understanding..(if you can manage)...

Only 5% of people even know that it is poking fun at microsoft and since they don't even mention them it isn't at all comparable to the scroogled campaign. Most people are just laughing at google which is good publicity for them anyways.
I like that they added the treasure map to maps as well. They're way more fun than all the other tech companies. I see no reason to trash talk the effort they put into this video. If you don't like it then show us something equally amusing that came from your company of choice, anything else just makes you look a fool...
