Hell even if they did it at cost. If Google makes it money from data mining, and they can get, possibly, hundreds of millions of Americans, and probably other countries at some point, using their service they would still boost revenue. Kind of like Google fiber.

I doubt it would be free, but what they may do is finally give us the option paying $30-$50 a month for a plan and having a unsubsidized phone. Sort of like what they have over in Europe with their cellular plans. Instead of buying a subsidized phone on a 2 year contract with excessive costs associated with it, imagine buying an unsubsidized phone with low monthly costs. Normally, people would be turned off by this idea because unsubsidized phones normally cost $500 and up, but Google has shown us they can create a high-end phone at a $300 price without a contract. So, you would only pay a little more than you would by buying a subsidized phone but save on your monthly fees. I think this is the route Google would go if it does get into the cellular business, and I'm all for it.

I think google would be better off buying Tmobile or a regional carrier and expanding. I don't see much benefit partnering with Dish based on their current state.

Probably won't happen in the US. It is likely a violation of net neutrality rules.

And they should rename the phone's tethering app to "G-spot!" On second thought, they might want to pass on that one.

Either way, I am all for your idea. Knowing Google's business model, they'd probably provide excellent service for a lower price than the competition. At worst, it would be superior service at the same price, so I see this as a win-win. Count me in if it ever becomes a thing.

The reason is if google buy tmobile then the data service wont be cost at low as 30 or maybe as low as 20 a month....... google can go low on mobile data and make it up in ad.

Do you realize that ALL of that can be done now without a Google-owned carrier? Anything you fear Google can learn about you, so too can Verizon or any other carrier. Best of luck with your Windows phone, as if it's impossible for that to be used to track you. I think you ought to loosen the tinfoil hat a little. It seems a bit tight.

Forget AT&T and Verizon
AT&T is overpriced
Verizon and sprint are still using CDMA(not sure whats its called), which no one else in the world uses

There business model is in advertisement, and data gathering; I would leave my carrier in a heart beat if Google have their own network and the price is right..

Google has always sought to bring its stuff to any platform it can, regardless of its status as a competitor. I'm pretty sure they'd be willing to carry non-Android devices without hesitation. After all, they aren't an insignificant proportion of the market. At least, not right now.

Every business, whether we like it or not as consumers, are in the business to make money. Google makes majority of its money on advertisements. Sprint and T-Mobile may charge less rates, but see how their network expansion has taken a hit because of it. People may hate on Verizon and AT&T for their prices, but you truly get what you pay for. Verizon has the largest 4G LTE network in the US right now and AT&T is catching up greatly. Sprint barely has 4G LTE and T-Mobile won't have it until 2013.

Google would be no different. If anything, I could see them being a MVNO, but not a full blown national wireless carrier.
