lol The Verizon Galaxy Nexus is still stuck on 4.0.2 and they are talking about Jellybean. Oh well that is the process it seems. Forget about the past devices and just release new ones.

"The Verizon Galaxy Nexus is still stuck on 4.0.2 and they are talking about Jellybean."

But they also say:

"...and we'd love to see the carriers get pushed aside a bit, because it would not only lead to faster updates (Verizon Galaxy Nexus users still haven't seen an update)..."

Anyway, for me it sound good. :)

only 5% of android devices have ICS. Also this article is mentioning fall releases. Also they have agreed to update OSs up to 18 months after they are released.

I can say there are somethings that carriers do the are cool but I do miss it with my Nexus on T-mobile. Its wonderful really nice thing. Hope google comes out with more device's with out carrier lock down.

It doesn't make sense to make a Motorola Nexus device, as more than likely the bootloader will still be locked. The Nexus phones are supposed to be developer friendly, and Motorola has proven to be just the opposite.

Motorola was loosening its stance on locked bootloaders even before the Google purchase. Now that Google is in control, there is no reason to worry about this, especially in regards to a potential Nexus device.

You would think this practice will change since Google should be Motorolas official parent company by that time

On the contrary the demand by OEMs to get the honour is outweighing the 1 manufacturer a year policy so much so that Google is coming up with this model.
Every world cup more teams want to be in the mix... Does that mean the football world cup is not special anymore?

the big four should make a phone by helping each other (samsung, lg, motorala, htc)

this phone should have

1. super amoled + hd (full rgb when its ready and the blue pixels dont hurt the display)

2. 2gb ram

3. 3300mah battery

4. design from all of the companies above

5. mali-t604 gpu

6. dont know which processor they will use???

7. and ANDROID 5.0 JELLYBEAN

This is great news!.. for everyone not on Verizon. Unfortunately their use of proprietary CDMA tech will (most likely) preclude them from multiple nexus love. At least until they've gone to a full 4g LTE network, which is still a ways off. Maybe Motorola will make a CDMA nexus? One can only hope.

Sooo... Does this mean my hopes for all the major manufacturers coming together for one device is coming true? Or is it individual devices from the manufacturers? Sorry if that is a silly question, studying has made my brain go fuzzy. Will I have my device with HTC build quality, Motorola antennae, Samsung (or Qualcomm S4 Pro) processor, and... Well, I don't know what I want from LG, maybe the display (hopefully full RGB matrix HD and 4.5 inch screen). Or will I have to choose between the 4 different devices? Either way, I'm gonna have to wait. I'll keep an eye on this topic, see what happens. Until more is known about this, I'll just stick to my plans and get the new EVO whenever my contract ends.

i like the decision as well as hate it. You see what i like is that now i get to have my prefered manufacturer nexus device but what i hate about it is that a Nexus device was like having a only one google flagship phone like iphone it was only one android standard setting phone.

If google goes this way, then it will be a very good desiscion. We will see some top notch nexus devices, due to competiton among all the OEM's, and now atleast people will stop complaining about camera of 2009 in 2012 models........... :)
