Google phone is alive and real; HTC hot shots carry the Passion/Dragon

This article contains unofficial information.
In other Android news, Tech Crunch is reporting that the phone du jour that the big boys at HTC are carrying around for testing, is the Passion/Dragon that is heading to Verizon. As we previously reported, this is expected to be an Android version of the super spec'd HTC HD2 with a huge display and Snapdragon processor. The phone is supposed to be thinner than the DROID since it won't have a physical keyboard and the word is that it won't be too long until it is launched. Those Big Red customers who have been turning green with every HD2 video might be soon on the other end of that equation. So far, all we have seen of the device is a picture of an HTC display that is supposed to be that of the Passion.

Wonder why verizon would release what could be a better phone then the droid so shortly after droid release... I am getting a new phone for christmas, probably the droid, I would be kinda peeved if the Passion/Dragon comes out 31 days after...

If I am not mistaken, look at late 1sr/early 2nd Q 2010. They can't launch it until Motorolas exclusive ends on the droid for 2.0

You are mistaken. Mid-December for the HTC Passion. There's no exclusive on an open source OS.

biggles, the OS is open source, the enhancements are exclusive, otherwise all the other android phones would have 2.0 by now instead of Q1 2010 at earliest.

I don't know about that the original HTC Touch came to Verizon almost 9 months after everyone else and by then the Touch2 was about to come out.

some said mid november, than mid decemeber. I hope it comes out by mid decemeber. We'll just wait and see. I believe the htc passion will be better than the droid.

I don't. But how could the Droid be better than what the Dragon/Passion is? The specs are ridiculous! Yes, same Software/OS, but the processor, the screen size and the fact that it is HTC makes all the difference in the world. There is no doubt that the Droid is a good phone. However, I think the Dragon/Passion is flagship for sure... enough to make me switch to Verizon to check it out.

I really wonder how much does Samsung makes.... I mean they make everything you could think of. #2 cellphone manufacturer, computers, lcd monitors, makes one of the best HD tv in the world, RAM, soon to be Bada, Cellphone processor, not to mention every iPhone has Samsung CPU, kitchen electronics, etc etc etc woa..

My question is if the HD2 comes to verizon can you flash it for sprint since there the same technology? This is the phone i have been waiting for since the original HD. This phone is SICk

I'm not sure if people have done full flashes of windows mobile handsets to run android natively. You can boot up android from the windows mobile file manager, there's a linux based program that you download onto your winMo device that boots android. Haven't seen clean winMo wipes though with android replacements. That would be SICK though!

You missed his question. He was wondering if the phone can be flashed to Sprint from off Verizon. Don't know.

An HTC Dragon/Passion that's equally spec'ed to the HTC HD2 sans WM sub in Android 2.0 would be FABULOUS.
