Google once again delays the Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for the HTC One (M8) and (M7) Google Play editions

The saga around the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the HTC One and HTC One (M8) Google Play editions continues. Earlier this month, it was confirmed that these stock Android warriors will have received the sweet firmaware update by November's end. Unfortunately though, Google said "No!" and did not approve the Lollipop builds that HTC had submitted. At the time, Mo Versi, HTC's VP of Product Management, promised that those donning such a device will be rocking Lollipop as soon as Google gives them the green light, which was expected to happen yesterday, December 1.

Well, the saga has taken yet another most unpleasant turn - Google has once again delayed the approval of the Lollipop builds for the HTC One and One (M8) Google Play edition devices. Once again, the one who brought the news was Mo Versi. According to him, the exact reason for this hold-up is Google's busy schedule. The "current workload" that Mountain View is experiencing means that those faithful adopters of these stock Android warriors will have to wait a little longer for the most recent version of the OS.

In the meantime, the most recent data about Android's current state are somewhat uninspiring. Android 5.0 Lollipop's currently running on less than 0.1% of all Android devices on a global scale. It will probably take it a whole year before it climbs up to the current adoption of its predecessor - Android 4.4 KitKat now powers 33.9% of all 'Droid handsets.
