Google+ comments already added to YouTube app; YouTube creator hates it
0. phoneArena 08 Nov 2013, 21:20 posted on
Google has been slowly working towards shifting the YouTube commenting to Google+ for a while now. It has been a very tricky transition because the YouTube commenter community is notoriously one of the more vocal and vicious groups of people around. Of course, this is the exact reason why Google wants to make the change in the comments section...

The slow death of YT continues under google. Google needs to stop trying to force G+ onto everyone.

Have you ever see those comments on YouTube? there is a lot kids with Youtube channels and there is a lot of haters. Im ok with G+ but there should be a choice for those who don't want G+ to comment. you will see more mature ppl and lest trash talker there,

It's inevitable that a troll, like you (mxy), would resent that fact that other trolls, will find it hard to hide on YT anymore. Soon you guys are going to run out of bridges to hide under. I await that day with joy.

I don't comment on YT. I guess you feel mighty stupid right about now.
28. downphoenix (Posts: 3165; Member since: 19 Jun 2010)
actually Im with Myx on this. Google + for comments suck. And actually it does nothing to stop trolls, as trolls can just setup a Google + account with someone else's name on it. Also since the comments allow you to post links now, this can be a potential way to spread malware via links, something that wasn't previously possible with the old comments system. Finally, if you look around, people can still mess with Youtube 4chan style.

Simple but completely true. Now i understand that Google owns youtube and if they are going to force google plus its just gonna happen most people will put up with it, but if google really wants to make people happy they make it an option.
People want Youtube and google aint selling it anymore IMO.

Actually I see some upside to it... Not only will obnoxious trolling be less common, there was always a bunch of spasm comments as well.
I'll miss the way it was for many reasons, but I understand Google's decision.

Actually I think this is good, this way people can avoid most people's misleading comments and opinionated BS. Also spamming?
Also you can just created a fake account on Google. Can't ya?
4. pookiewood (Posts: 631; Member since: 05 Mar 2012)
I've had a fake account since google MADE us get a Gmail account to access the comments section. I've had a Youtube account before Google came in and pissed all over the walls.

Problem is, people got around it with a G+ page without a name and continue to post junk.

There goes my Youtube account...............................................................................:->..............................
17. true1984 (Posts: 823; Member since: 23 May 2012)

I hate it. I was trying to comment on a video I was watching on motortrend and it wanted me to sign into Google. Apparently you can't comment unless you have a Google account and you sign in. Its so stupid.

I had the same feeling when i wanted to rate an app in the Play store. Since i deleted my G+ account i can't rate an app. Thats pretty non constructive imo. Perhaps the walled garden of Apple isn't so walled anyway :-)

This is a really bad idea, Google was looking for a closed ecosystem by integrating G+ to Youtube. G+ is not as good with getting things social, the whole 'circles' and +1-ing ideas just don't cut it and a lot of anonymous people keep adding you to their circles esp the ones from say india or pakistani :(
10. sprockkets (Posts: 1611; Member since: 16 Jan 2012)
People can add you all you want - if you don't add them they don't get to see anything.
7. galanoth (Posts: 425; Member since: 26 Nov 2011)
I like this idea.
YouTube the way it was, was very bad.
So many spam and troll comments in every video.
Anything Google can do to try and clean up YouTube is a good idea.

I honestly don't see why everyone's flipping out about this. Google bought YT ages ago. They created G+ and they've been pushing it ever since. They've been combing all their services together for easier management. It was only a question of time when this would happen, honestly.
I mean, if you're the residential troll who just likes to throw sh×t while remaining anonymous. In that case, I understand your frustration.

Why can't they just leave it as a share option? I'll never use Google+, I can guarantee that.
13. woodshop20 (Posts: 459; Member since: 14 Sep 2013)
Unfortunately you don't have a choice. This is the only way Google will ever stay competitive with Facebook.
On the other hand it's ironic how Android is focused on freedom and open-source.
25. Beijendorf (Posts: 340; Member since: 27 Aug 2013)
The question is whether they really need to compete with Facebook. You can't strongarm your way into the social networking sphere by forcing your service onto users, since it'll just result in people creating fake accounts and hating the service even if it gains a shred of popularity.
I really like the idea of Google service integration, but I can't help but to think that a better option would be to have the tabs up top for the various Google services. Click on it and you're asked if you want to enable the service if you haven't already, and get asked if you want to choose a username or use your real name.
This way people would perhaps make their G+ account eventually, and be logged in to it by simply using some other service, making it a very easy-to-use service.
It's how Google used to work - be open, allow anonymity and don't force people to use things they don't want.

Literally no one I know used Google+ it never took off. They should maybe integrate Google accounts if you want but not Google+. Google+ at least in my personal circle is pretty fail.
23. zombiewolf115 (Posts: 38; Member since: 16 Jul 2013)
its just so stupid, i cant even comment on my own youtube videos, and when one of my subscribers comments on 3 times on my vid, google+ counts it as spam when its not, there isn't even a way to say his comments aren't spam. worse i cant see youtube notifications on damn youtube i have to find them on once again google+, its utterly retarded
24. GrmanR (Posts: 41; Member since: 09 Apr 2013)
They ruined time stamps! And now the "best comments" and "recent comments" are on separate sections, that was unnecessary!
26. Pancholo (Posts: 380; Member since: 27 Feb 2012)
Why is everybody getting their panties in a knot? If you want to comment so bad, link/create a G+ account and just use it for that; Ignore it afterwards. If you're sure you won't ever try to look like an asshat by commenting in YouTube, you could always comment from your real G+ account.
Gee! It's so hard to click/tap on some buttons! Now I NEED a G+ account? Eff you registration forms! Thou hast shackled me for so long, o' bearer of complicated tip-taps!
Calm your tits, boys and gals. When you were a wee lad, your parents left you on your own for 6+ hours in a building they call "school" for years. I'm sure you can handle this.

Those that have issues with this are the same people who like to talk behind people's backs in real life. It is a sense of "I want to say something, but don't want to be responsible for what I say." Drunk talkers.
31. McLTE (Posts: 819; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
while I don't necessarily agree with having to have a G+ account, I think SOMETHING needed to be done. The abuse and downright awful behavior in the comments is HORRID.
Find a way to get rid of the little spineless, sailor mouthed trolls.

PA took away the 'thumbdown" to cut back on the trolling and negative comments.... I am still waiting on that outcome...
