Google and Waze already combining efforts

When Google first agreed to acquire social-navigation app Waze for what has been revealed to be just under $1 billion, Google said that the plan was to keep Waze and its development team separate from Google while cross-integrating features between Waze and Google Maps. The FTC hasn't even formally approved the deal, and is still conducting an investigation, but that isn't stopping Google and Waze from moving ahead in combining efforts...

Sooner or later Google will make another "spring cleaning" killing Waze in the process. For me Google is becoming unreliable and voracious somehow.

agreed and i dont know in other countries but i was using waze some days ago and suddenly a advertising from a brand car pops up pointing that there is a dealership from that brand if i took a right....another one was from a bank saying that it has a branch near where i was, so, i think the advertising planning phase started already....never had this ads popping before... they didnt pop everytime, sometimes only when i was not moving just like the other popping messages, but still ANNOYING!!! i live in Brazil btw.
WHY WAZE, WHY?!?! it was perfect before google!! it was clean.

I'm happy that I can do a Google search in Waze. I am often unable to find things with Bing.
I switched to Waze several months ago because it was simply better than Google at selecting better routes through traffic. Also, I like the look of the app and the presentation better in Waze. It also remembers the zoom level I used. In Maps, I have to change the zoom level every time I open the app. Then the traffic zoom level is just annoying as it keeps zooming in and out depending on what street you are on.
I'm hoping this information goes both ways. Google Maps does a great job at updating their maps when streets change due to construction or when a bridge collapses. It seems that Maps is updated the very day that roads change. With Waze, the one road change this weekend hasn't been updated yet. It's still telling me to take the old road which is now closed.
