Google and Samsung just came out with a joint statement that they won't be holding the Samsung Mobile UNPACKED event at CTIA next Tuesday, which was dubbed "Something BIG is coming" in a teaser recently, and was widely expected to see the announcements of the Samsung Nexus Prime and Android Ice Cream Sandwich...

Sad that it might take something tragic to bring about a temporary cease-fire in the Apple-Samsung war.

I think this is to do with the "Mr. Steve's" death. May be it is not the right time to introduce an product within a week's time of Jobs death, I would consider it has a good gesture from samsung and google to show the respect.

I doubt it has anything to do with Steve's passing. Perhaps it's just not quite ready. I believe the real reason though, is it may interfere with the sales of SGSII on the other carriers, particularly Tmobile who hasn't even released theirs yet. Announcing this phone to the general public so soon after GS2 might cause people to hold off on buying a GS2.

If it's a Verizon exclusive, why would that matter? GS2 will still be the best phone in T-Mo's lineup.

It's only thought to be a verizon exclusive for a brief while. A phone that good could also cause someone to switch carriers. I can tell you personally I'm holding off on a GS2 with ATT myself until I see more of what the nexus prime has to offer and when it will be available to other carriers. I'm also wondering if it will cause a price drop on the GS2s.

I told you I rather wait. Too much hype for what?

Well I will continue with my GS2... The Beast all the way.

Hmm. I wonder if the marketing campaign centered around making fun of Apple or something similar in which case with the passing of Steve Jobs it needs to be revamped.

It may be that they are improving it, adding to the suspense, or tweaking some last minute bugs.

PEOPLE!
Calm down!
I don't know what is the big rush towards all new announcements?
Those mean only that we have to spend our (hard earned) money on little more advanced gadgets.
I say NO!
Until manufacturers came out with something spectacular and mind blowing must have device, like 2-3 days battery life of battery with heavy usage, bendable displays, holograms or projectors at least or something like that - No I won't buy slightly more tuned processors and little higher resolution screens, or super duper plus HD ultra fancy schmancy AMO-or-any-other-LED and 3D, not even 9D.
Give us something worth of that high price tag you ask!

Samsung buy time for new products, build more Galaxy S II, allowed Apple to sell more iPhone 4S and Big surprise on the way.

Just because Steve Jobs pass away doesnt means they cant show the Nexus Prime. It probably have too do with the leake video. And Jobs is NOT PART OF SAMSUNG OR GOOGLE, so please dont bother putting his name their. Its bout GOOGLE NOT APPLE.

It might also have to do with the T-Mobile launch of Galaxy S2. After Nexus, who in their right mind would want to buy a S2 and google might be adamant on releasing the prime in the US first.
So to sell some more, S2s they may have postponed Prime

Question, for those who have vwz and still have unlimited data is that unlimited for lte as well? I ask cause I only have a droid 2 with 3g.

As of the last time I looked to upgrade (like 2 weeks ago) it appears that as long as you have VZW, and an unlimited plan, you keep it. Pretty solid incentive of theirs to stay with smartphones and stay on VZW.

Ok so let's say I upgrade to a LTE phone...does the unlimited data include LTE as well or is it just unlimited for 3g?

I just picked up the Bionic and my bill still shows unlimited. My Mom upgraded to the Revolution and she also still has unlimited data still.

Awesome. I never used an LTE phone yet and nor am I going to assume things based on what I read online if I never personally used it...so with that does your bionic display when your using LTE?

It just shows a "4G LTE" icon where your 3G icon would be.

I think that after the disappointment from Apple, Samsung and Google don't feel as much pressure to have a great product out ASAP.

They weren't rushing it. They're changing the announcement date, not release date.
Also, according to both Samsung and Google's reasoning, it's because of your lord and savior's death. Be happy Samsung and Google are showing mercy on Apple.

ohh ok lets see.. before the passing of Mr. Jobs... they maliciously plan the event to take the thunder from the Apple and now they show consideration... i dont buy it... they realized that their Prime is half baked and that ICS showed bugs... so the Prime will come with Android 4.1 out of the box...

btw.. in the article it never said it was because of Mr. Jobs.. dont assume ...

Don't put Google/Samsung in the same category as Apple. They're actually considerate for human life.
btw, the articles never post everything. Don't assume they're everything.

From Google.
"We believe this is not the right time to announce a new product as the world expresses tribute to Steve Jobs's passing."

From Samsung.
"Samsung and Google have decided to postpone the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event during the CTIA in San Diego, previously scheduled for Oct. 11. Under the current circumstances, both parties have agreed that this is not the appropriate time for the announcement of a new product. We would ask for the understanding of our clients and media for any inconvenience caused. We will announce a new date and venue in due course.”

Look it up on Google. I'm pretty sure you can trust their sources right?
