Google VP again says Motorola is 'just like HTC or Samsung' to them
0. phoneArena posted on 01 Mar 2013, 04:55
Just yesterday Google's CFO mentioned there was not much "wow" factor in Motorola's product pipeline when they bought it, and they are still working through the existing production plans, yet are "actually building the next wave of innovation and product lines" at the same time...

By putting their crappy TouchWiz UI on top of Android OS...

Samsung is choking other Android phone manufacturers .
Also , monopoly halts innovation .
And this has nothing to do with the Samsung vs Apple s**t , I view it more as an android vs apple .
By replacing apps on android with their own suckswiz apps they are hruting Google's revenue . Example such as :
Google calendar with S planner
Play store with Samsung apps
Google talk with chat on
You get the idea .
Those apps sync with Samsung account instead of Google account

are you human? Most people are smart enough to know that samsung is better than everyone else, moto lg and sony deserve to make losses and i cant wait to see htc make loss this quarter
9. adjou posted on 01 Mar 2013, 05:56 14 7
Coming from 'Samsung_royally'... :S
The only reason why samsung is top is because it is turning into Apple, people get it for fashion. Just like what BB was in UK.
Honestly, moto, htc and sony all build better quality phones than samsung. And whoever thinks plastic is better than glass or metal, please get yourself checked out.
I do applaued samsung for getting the top spot, but that is because of their amazing marketing team, nothing more.
Sort of sick of samsung fanboys putting down anything that's not samsung
10. evil_slayer posted on 01 Mar 2013, 06:16 5 2
samsung is going down the same path as apple
i mean samsung fans now bash anything not samsung...and even to some people now android=samsung and nothing else
yes..samsung release great phones(note II is my fav among their galaxy line) BUT their fans are taking it too far...and acting like non could ever match it or come close...or anything not smasung means it simply can't and wont be good...
11. tiara6918 posted on 01 Mar 2013, 06:28 3 2
Yep,it's terrible how people buy things nowadays. Galaxy line is a great product but many people are going too far as to say that if it's an android smartphone it has to be Samsung but what about the other manufacturers? They get overshadowed by what the majority chooses

I only disagree on Glass better than polymer for mobile devices construction. Maybe Dragontrail or Gorilla Glass 3.
But The Glass in the back of Nexus 4, the Optimus G, iPhone 4/4S... Only makes the phone heavier and fragile!
33. Taters posted on 01 Mar 2013, 19:58 0 0
Samsung is successful because they manufacture the best parts and includes them into their Galaxy S series and they try to cover all bases.
Only morons think it is only marketing and only morons think that casing materials decide the build quality.

I'm a samsung fan...i know they deserve what they have...but that doesn't mean others deserve losses....a guy like you can damage the image of whole group....
To others....i think removable battery is more for me than metal or glass....functionality is more for me than look....samsung is not heading in apple's way...you know idevices are considered as premium device...but s3 is considered as ugliest baby 2012 flagships...then how is samsung heading in apple's way???

The more defensive Google sounds of Motorola the more likely the X Phone will trash competition. It makes no business sense to downplay your own product unless you can afford it, because it's going to be THAT good. The downplay is simply to regain manufacturer trust that they are not giving Motorola special treatment when in fact it's 100% that they do, they bought them after all. So this is a political statement.
21. cretinick posted on 01 Mar 2013, 08:04 0 0
I don't think they have to give special treatment to Motorola make great Phones. Don't need to be a Nexus, neither have to come with KLP to make the X-Phone a sucess
They just need to change the culture of developing handsets from Motorola and adopt a model closer than they do when they develop Nexus handsets with other manufacturers.
Creating a device sturdy, beautiful and with a guarantee of quick updates, Motorola will be half way to re-grow.
But the real Achilles' heel of Motorola today is their cameras...

this is funny why would Google make war with all the other boys they need them around and they will make some great phones. And if the shoe was on the other foot you don't think they would do the same. motorola just needs a little help get back on top and google will do that for sure

Reality check! If you buy a new company wouldn't you put your best and latest hardware into your product and make it number one and profitable.

No appreciation to Motorola the company who started the android success?!!!!!
13. SonyXperiaNexus posted on 01 Mar 2013, 06:38 0 0
yeah, its just like htc and samsung to them.... until they finish draining motorola's pipeline. Bring the MOTONEX!!!! show us what wow means in google's dictionary!
14. dragonscourgex posted on 01 Mar 2013, 06:50 1 0
I find nothing wrong with Google using Motorola to it fullest. They have ever right too. They should not be held back from doing so. As long as they keep Android in it's full open source glory, no one should care what type of hardware they make.

Does this mean google is worried about aggressive posturing that samsung may take ?
27. gwuhua1984 posted on 01 Mar 2013, 10:35 0 0
Google welcomed the Firefox OS... the only aggressive posturing Samsung will take will probably be to drop Android and fully use Tizen on their phones. If Google welcomed Firefox, it'll most likely welcome Tizen, as they did say competition is good.

Honestly still haven't gotten over a Samsung Phone I bought like 5 years ago it was using Windows 6 on phone, but I did want to give Galaxy 4 a try, but with what I see in HTC that might wait even longer, and I know LG is a carbon copy or exact replica of Galaxy Note 2, but even with that who wouldn't want over 3000 mah and what was it 32 GB expandable to 64 in their phone I think?
22. Atlas posted on 01 Mar 2013, 08:11 0 0
I can't wait for Motorola's phones this year, I agree that they haven't been used to their full potential and this year they can make up for the lost profit. Waiting desperately for MotoX!
24. BesnikRrustemi posted on 01 Mar 2013, 09:01 0 0
Google is a great company,i don`t think that we will see a Motorola X Phone this year.
i think its too early to release a product like motorola x phone, they wont do something unless they make something cool, they wont do such a mistake like apple did with google maps, releasing its own maps application before finishing it
Releasing a service or product before it is ready.the result is failure so for my opinion i think this year we will see a nexus 5.
28. gwuhua1984 posted on 01 Mar 2013, 10:40 0 0
Why would it be too early? The X Phone's rumored specs are all possible with all the technology available at this moment. Apple's fail with maps was because they have absolutely no background with maps. Motorola is still Motorola, but just owned by Google. I think if the X Phone gets released later this year, it will be fine. If they rush the product just to get in the competition with HTC and Samsung right now, then it'd be a problem. Knowing how Google is with Nexus line, they'll be fine.
26. lubba posted on 01 Mar 2013, 10:11 0 0
Google literally destroy Motorola. And all thanks to that numskull former fired CEO of Motorola, Sanjay. Motorola had the tools and the chance to do so much. Buy no! Had to sell themselves to the devil.
29. gwuhua1984 posted on 01 Mar 2013, 10:41 0 0
They failed when they only sell on Verizon... Motorola phones are really nice, but we could only look when it's not coming going on all carriers.
30. Whateverman posted on 01 Mar 2013, 11:19 0 0
Nah, like g1984 said, the exclusivity is what re-killed Motorola. You would think they would have seen the kind of success Samsung had with the Galaxy S2 and followed that model for the Razr. But no, the had to put the Droid label on it, which locked out all other providers from carrying their most recognizable brand. That just wasn't smart.

Something similar happened during the "Fall of the Third Reich". "Quick, rally the troops, moral is getting extremely low".

I have my 3 yr old Captivate running 4.2...I am def willing to get another from Samsung. As for Motorola, I have enjoyed my droid RAZR, locked boot loader and all. If I buy another moto product it better come with an unlocked boot loader, or imam going somewhere else for my next phone
